Rating: Summary: Superior perfomance Review: I am very impressed with this monitor. When I bought it (to replace an 18" CRT which blew up), the Amazon description said the contrast ratio was 600:1 - turns out it's 450:1 - but hey, it's still good. Backlighting seems a little uneven but that may be a tweak I am yet to discover. I have tried it with both its analog and digital video inputs, and I suggest you don't bother with an LCD monitor unless you can connect digitally - the difference in clarity is amazing, esp with small fonts. Response time also seems quicker with the digital connection.Built in speakers are fine for everyday use, and you can control volume / muting using the bezel buttons instead of opening the audio control on the taskbar (which you sometimes can't see without closing the application you're in, right?) Setup was hassle-free and there are a couple of neat applications included to keep colors true-to-life.

Rating: Summary: Pricey...but an very, very good LCD monitor. Review: I bought the VX800 back in November 2002. After 5+ months of usage, it's been a great monitor. Married to a dual processor Macintosh w/ a 64MB video card, this monitor has performed flawlessly. No shadows, not one bad pixel - not one bad thing to say about the quality of the monitor. But..... a couple things worth mentioning. First, the speakers that come with this monitor are barely adequate. Good for basic sound but that's about it. And finally, this was my first LCD monitor; knowing I'm paying more then I should when compared to other quality LCDs with the same warranty period and bad pixel policy. With that said, there are monitors just as sharp as this VX800 for much less money. If you're comfortable buying an LCD with a top of the line brand name, ViewSonics and Samsungs are who to turn to. But when I buy my second LCD for my other computer, I'm going to look very closely at LCDs from Hitachi and Envision. These two companies make terrific LCDs with great warranty/bad pixel policies for significantly less money. You won't go wrong with any VX series LCD, but you'll also do well spending less money for the same quality buying a Hitachi or Envision. This VX 800 gets 5 stars based solely on the quality of the monitor. If price was to factored, I'd drop the rating to 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: One of the best I've ever have Review: I got my vx800 from Dell. No dead pixels at all. I use DVI with it. Ths image quality is awesome and the response time is good (no problem with gaming or seeing DVDs.... though still slower than my SONY Trinitron CRT if you compared them together with some monitor test program.) The view angle is wide enough. This is a great LCD monitor.
Rating: Summary: One of the best I've ever have Review: I purchased this monitor 3 months ago and have absolutely loved it. In reference to the review referring to compatability issues with ATI video cards, I would like to mention that I have used this monitor with both a lower end ATI 32 mg analog video card and encountered no problems whatsoever, and I have recently upgraded to a new ATI Radeon 9000 128mg video card and have encountered no problems. This monitor has worked flawlessly for me, and I love it.

Rating: Summary: Superior perfomance Review: I recently bought this monitor and i choose it because the reviews from a games website and for the features that the viewsonic website say about it, i chosed this monitors exclusively to play my pc games and i tested with FIFA football 2003 and a mmorpg Dark age of Camelot. First FiFa looks great, the architecture of the stadiums looks beautiful as the players in the court besides the anmation and all, with Dark age of Camelot the experiece is outstanding i adjuste the resolution and now i can see a beatiful panoramics view from the forest, if you dont know Camelot this is an online 3D game and is a game that demand a great videocard and a very good monitor to apreciate the vivid colors and animations that this game give, and let tell you this Viewsonic monitor can handle even better i was espected and i enjoy even more from this game. Im very impressed for the perfomance of this monitor is really good, about movies i tested with DVD movies and only the quality decrease a little bit but that is because for the high resolution of the monitor but don't worry you can still enjoy the colors, light and shadows effects from the movies, Star Wars episode I looks great and the WarCraft III DVD cinematics are breathtakin. If you are a gamer that lookin for a new monitor i can recomend this.
Rating: Summary: VX800 has problems with ATI video cards Review: I recently purchased a Viewsonic VX800 LCD. The monitor itself is great. The probelm is that there is a compatibility issue with ATI video cards. If you have an ATI video card, the display has horizontal lines of snow and is unusable anytime you restart. I have called Viewsonic tech support and they acknowledge the problem but have no answers on a fix. Do not buy this product if you have an ATI video card.

Rating: Summary: Great LCD Monitor! Review: My husband and I just purchased the ViewSonic VX800 and we love it. The sleek lines of the monitor, easy installation, and beautiful color make this a wonderful choice for anyone looking to upgrade from a CRT to an LCD. The speakers aren't bad either. They don't have the depth and richness of stand-alones, but again, they're not bad for windows and web use.
