Summary: No Doubt Anymore
Review: After reading the mixed reviews here I wasn't sure if I should get this monitor. Still, I knew I wanted a 17" Flat CRT and the EN-770 was a good price so I went to a couple local retailers and checked out the selection. After seeing the Envision a couple different places I felt better about it and purchased it from Amazon (better price than the stores I visited). I've had it two weeks now and I couldn't be happier. It's nothing too flashy but the picture looks good and it was easy to use. I didn't have any problems with funny lines or distortion at all. You can chalk me up as another satisfied customer.

Summary: Good Quality...
Review: For the money spent on this monitor I believe it to be a great bargain, I had a monitor just go on me and needed to replace it, I wanted something that was reasonable priced and fit the same needs as my previous monitor. For the amount I paid this monitor does the same and more, and the colors are far more vibrant and of course the Flat CRT makes a big difference in removing glare and just giving a generally nice picture.
Only problem I had was the intital setup, took me a little while to get it right, but I did and can't complain.

Summary: Good deal but shop around
Review: For the money the picture quality is very good. The only shortfall is that the emissions spec is MPRII, which is the minimum.

Also, there's rebates (source intentionally left out) with lower shipping charges. One rebate just ended, but a second is still available.

If you have an opportunity to preview one, that would be a good idea. I found it to be superior in image quality to the newer 775e, which is perplexing given they most probably use the same tube.

Summary: Doesn't Last
Review: I bought one of these for my wife about a year ago, and within six months the picture had become so fuzzy that text was almost unreadable. Numbers were especially bad, with 5, 6, and 8 looking identical. Shipping charges to send it back would cost nearly as much as the monitor had. There are adjustment screws inside the case, so if you are comfortable braving the "Shock Hazard" warnings on the case, open it up and fix it yourself. I'm keeping it around since I like to tinker with hardware, but it is definitely not a monitor I would recommend for the average user.

Summary: Great Monitor
Review: I bought this monitor for a new system that I built six months ago, and have been very pleased with it. The picture is very clear and bright at 1024 x 768 resolution, and the colors have been awesome with an ATI Radeon 7500 video card. The display is very, very easy on the eyes, and I've been glued to it for hours on end without any hint of eyestrain. It installed easily, but it took a little while to get the picture centered and straight. I did get it tweaked with a little patience, though, and that's been my only gripe about this monitor. The on-screen menu is nice and offers a lot of options.

I didn't get this from Amazon, but from another retailer. Watch for rebates on these monitors, as Envision offers them quite frequently. I also recently bought a different Envision monitor for another system I built, and that one has performed wonderfully as well. Envision makes good quality monitors at a good price, and I highly recommend the 770e.

Summary: Bad experience with the EN-770E
Review: I bought this monitor from Staples because it was a very good price for a flat screen with a mail in rebate. Immediately upon powering it up I noticed that the CRT was poorly centered in the 'window' of the plastic surrounding the glass and I felt it was inexcusable for a new monitor to have such a obvious defect.

I took it back and exchanged it for another monitor of the same model. That one also had a defect that caused the bottom left of the display to curve in just enough to be annoying. No amount of adjustment could completely compensate for it.

Back to Staples for a third time to return it for refund. If the manufacturer had such poor quality control that it let very obvious defects slip through, what can one conclude about the parts you cannot see inside the monitor?

Thanks to Staples though for accepting the first exchange and the final return without a problem though!

Summary: promising but major flaws
Review: I bought this unit as a lower cost secondary monitor for my home office. Even though it has great specs and can do really sharp colors and text at high resolutions I had a major problem with the geometrics. It was so hard to get the pincushion out of the picture and keep the whole thing straight that I returned the unit for the Samsung 753df which was so much better.

Summary: Envision Rules
Review: Last year I bought an Envision LCD because it was by far the best deal available. To my surprise, it turned out not only to be a great value but it performed better than the "name brand" monitor I had at work. So this year when I needed a second monitor for my house I compared specs between Envision's 17" flat CRT and some other major brands. I was not surprised this time when I found they were all almost identical! Plus the Envision was $40 cheaper. I've had it for three weeks now and it's working great. Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation recommending Envision to anyone looking for a solid monitor.
