Summary: anyone else?
Review: Since this is the top seller in this category right now, obviously a lot of people are buying this monitor. Does anyone else have something to add to the two reviews here? Just looking for more opinions... (Please disregard my rating, I had to pick some number of stars to post this and I didn't want to change the current average.)

Summary: You get what you pay for
Review: The old maxim holds well here. My employer recently bought a set of these monitors and they have been universally poor performers. In particular, they were all plauged with the 'pixel jitter' that is so common to low-end LCDs. If a 17" panel is something you must have, try a Phillips, a Samsung, or a NEC model. Your eyes are worth the extra cost.

Summary: After three days...
Review: After being stunned by its low price, I picked this monitor up last weekend and so far have been very happy with it. Unlike the previous review, I found the in-store display to be quite poor as the shop I visited was displaying 1024x768 images on the 1280x1024 capable monitor. Be sure, if you go to look at it, that you can dink with the settings and make sure its running at the proper resolution. With a small amount of tinkering with the "clock" and "focus" settings it will give a seemingly *perfect* image. Decent contrast, good brightness, no text shadows, no flickering or shimmering. Unfortunately there is one dead pixel on the one I got, but I guess that's not too bad considering. Button layout is pretty sleek, and the monitor is at a good height. I'm happy I didn't buy a 19' crt and am loving my newly freed deskspace. And it looks great under X!

Summary: After 2 years, still perfection
Review: I'm amazed that people buy OEM monitors with their Dell/Gateway computers when something like this is available. CRYSTAL clear and sweet to use all day. This monitor is amazing. We've used it (heavily) for 2 years without a hiccup! Auto-adjust works 100% of the time. Yes, it's $400+ but if this is something you'll be using a lot, it's worth every dime of the $100 premium over lesser monitors.

Summary: This was an excellent buy
Review: I am not a geek at all. I just love this monitor. It was easy to set up and is bright and easy to read. I would recommend it to persons like myself who just needed to replace their old CRT's and wanted a monitor that took up less space and was easy to see and read. The only problem I have is that I bought this monitor in December of 03 and it came with a $50.00 rebate that I sent to Envision on Dec 18, 2003. I have yet to get my 50 bucks. It is now March 11,2004. If there is a any kind of rebate promised from this company, don't expect it any time soon.
Thanks-Susan from Seaside, Oregon.

Summary: excellent monitor
Review: The first monitor had a problem with the screen. Fortunately, I was able to exchange it for a new monitor.

Unfortunately, the second monitor worked fine for about 3 weeks but then a portion of the screen started getting lighter than other portions of the screen. Another reviewer stated that black isn't 100% black. Well, it is a defect and since Compusa only allow returns within 14 days, I am stuck shipping this monitor to Texas.

I am without a monitor for a few weeks. Obviously, I am disappointed and it is a hassle. I guess you get what you pay for. With the cost of shipping and insurance, I could have purchased a Samsung.

Summary: just ok
Review: i use this monitor for cad, and after using other viewsonics, this one is pretty darn good. lines and text are all very sharp using the native resolution of 1280x1024. i would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for one bright green dead pixel, and a more discrite one darker and off to the side. from reading other reviews, it seems to be common for this monitor
