Summary: This thing rocks
Review: I got The Rio 600 for christmas and imediatly installed the software and starting putting songs on my rio at first i could only 5-7 songs. When I was looking in the options menu when you go to portable section, set it the transcode bit rate to 64kBits/s and it reduces the space dramatically i'm now able to fit 17-21 songs and it sounds just like if you heard it on a FM radio.

The only problem I had was with the Rio Audio Manager, Constantly not detecting the rio and the headphones broke the first week i had it. Also buttons are to small you try to stop and it skips tracks and the accesorries are waay to expensive its [$] dollars for only a 32Mb memory backpack and [$] for a faceplate.

Summary: Great MP3 player!
Review: For Christmas, I asked for a mp3 player. I wasn't specific of what I got, but I did ask for a mp3 player that had cool features and it would be a good buy. Well, on Christmas day I got the Rio 600 mp3 player. It was great! I instantly installed the software it included and started transfering songs to it. But, I had a problem. When listening to the mp3 player, in the middle of a song it will make a twerp sound, or it sounds like it is skipping. I tried eliminating all the problems it could of had, and it still did it. Well, I aks my parents where they got it and they said at Circuit City. They also said that they were out of stock of it and it had to be shipped to the house. So, I repackaged it and we took it back to Circuit City for a replacement. Luckily they had another one in stock and in less then five minutes I had my new Rio 600 mp3 player. When opening the package, I noticed that it came with a small carrying case (which the one before didn't) and my new one also came with more songs pre-loaded on the mp3 player then before. The only thing I can think of is that the Rio 600 I got the first time, must have been a returned item and I happened to be the lucky one to get it next :) Since getting my new mp3 player, it has been great and it sounds just like my CD's! I took all my favorite songs from CD's and loaded them into the mp3 player. I love it! But, if you are going to order it from a store or something, I recommend not buying it if it's not in stock and they have to order it for you. I would only buy it from the store if they have some in stock, doing this I hope you will save yourself some trouble!

Also, the only thing I don't care too much about the Rio 600, is that the buttons on the faceplate are so small, that if you are trying to skip to the next song, you might accidentally pause the current song. Or if you are trying to pause the current song, it will skip to the next song instead. You have to be very gentle with them if you want it to last a long time. There not like portable CD players which can take some abuse.. Mp3 players are very delicate.

Summary: Good product, but I wouldn't recomend it.
Review: I got the Rio 600 for christmas. I loaded it up, and threw on some music, and it was very nice. Decient sound quality. Clock, and costomizable play list. After about 2 days or so, my menu button broke. So I took back to the store and got a new one. it worked for about 2-3 days, and now it's broken again. No sound will come out. so I'm taking it back to the store and getting my money back today. I'll look around for another mp3 player. The Rio 600 is good, but it breaks all the time. Buy it if you want.

Summary: The Rio 600 Is More Trouble Than It Is Worth
Review: The Rio 600, on the outside, is very appealing and seems easy to use. However, it is, in truth, unreliable and cheap. The Rio 600 simply does not work.

For Christmas, I received a Rio 600. It worked beautifully for an hour or so, but then suddenly the sound stopped working. It was not the headphones, I tried another pair. Therefore, I returned it, thinking it was just a faulty player. I ordered and soon received my second Rio 600. That too appeared to be working just fine.

Disappointingly, when I tried to download some songs it simply would not work. Also, the MP3 player indicated that some memory was being used although there were no songs on the player. I ignored this, thinking that perhaps it was supposed to do that, and then tried to download a few songs onto the player. It simply would not work. The software on the computer showed that the MP3 player was downloading the music, but the MP3 player itself was not. These are only a few among many problems that I encountered with the Rio 600 software, alone.

Obviously there are a few bugs that need to be worked out before the Rio 600 should be on the market. I see that the intent of the Rio 600 is good, but the actual product is not. I do not understand how the makers could not have noticed all of the problems with the Rio 600.

Truthfully, the Rio 600 is not all bad. The sound quality is wonderful and I adore the headphone style. Also, it is incredibly easy to use (when it is working correctly).

However, I would not recommend this product and I strongly discourage you from purchasing it. It seems that I am not the only one who has had problems with the Rio 600. A few friends of mine have also bought the Rio 600 and they too have had many problems with it. In short, the Rio 600 is more trouble than it is worth.

Summary: DON'T BOTHER BUYING
Review: When I purchased the Diamand Rio 600, I was expecting an excellent player from what I had heard and it's reviews. However, that assumption was proven to be wrong. I was very disappointed with it's overall performance.

*Weight- I was surprised when I felt how heavy the Rio is. Compared to other mp3 players, the Rio is especially heavy compared to it's small size. It's hard for you to walk wth it in your pocket because it weighs down your pants.

*Lighting feature- The way the lighting feature is programmed on the Rio can become a nusaince. Everytime you press a single button, it illuminates for about ten seconds. This feature may come in handy in the dark, but in broad daylight when it is not needed it only drains the battery faster.

*Sound- The sound on the Rio is horrible. First of all, it skips within twenty seconds of each song (I had tried re-downloading the song into the player and trying different Rio players, but the result came out the same. Also, the Rio tends to make strange bleeping noises that weren't there before in the song. It sounds like washing windows while listening to you music. The Rio doesn't have an equalizer. You can't increase the bass or change the quality of the music, which is a great feature that isn't included.

*Battery Usage- The Rio is supposed to play for up to ten hours using one battery. However, I'd never once used one battery for up to ten hours without it going out. In fact, it plays about five hours before dying out. I have anouther mp3 player [the RCA Lyra] that I've had since October, and I listen to it every day. It uses two batteries, but I've only had to change them twice.

*Software- The Rio software is acceptable, except for the fact that it takes up a large amount of space on your computer.

*USB Port- Even though the USB port is supposed to be much faster than the alternative Parallel Port, I have compared the two to be the same speed.

*Backpacks- The Rio uses 'backpacks', instead of Compact Flash like most players. Because of this, you can only buy Rio brand backpacks since they are the only company that makes them, and for a high price. Most of the time you have to order directly from the company if you want to expand the memory. I have also observed that they are hard to open up, and easy to break. They are also very large compared to the tiny compact flash.

I hope my review was helpful to those questioning whether to buy this product. Please don't, it is a waste of time. In my opinion, the RCA Lyra is preferably a much better player, maybe you should check it out. And for the same price, it has all the features anyone should need and it uses Real Jukebox, a program many people already have. Thank You.

Summary: What? No belt clip??
Review: With only 32 Megs I'm lucky to get 30 minutes of play. I tend to exercise for at least 45. Also, with no belt clip I have to hold on to it for my run. That is inconvenient and simply not acceptable. On the other hand the software, sound and sexy look are awesome.

Summary: BUYER BEWARE
Review: I bought my Rio 600 and got it home and it was working great. The next day, for some reason it decided that it wasn't going to let me turn it on at all! The day after that, it fixed itself somehow, but the volume buttons broke because the material the player is made out of is the cheapest you can get. That fixed itself aswell after 2 weeks. It worked for about a week after that then, another problem, No Sound Would Come Out! I pressed play and the minute:second counter ticked by as if it was playing, but no matter which headphones i used, nothing came out. That problem was permenent. I sent it to Diamond\S3 (which has HORRIBLE technical support and service, their tech support is a long distance call to somewhere in california lol)about 2 months ago and still havent recieved a new one in the mail because they shut down their shipping wharehouse until the end of january. DO NOT BUY

Summary: Great!
Review: When I first bought this it was really exciting and i used it and still do use it every day. But after you have had it for about 2 weeks you start to notice just a few things that are bad about , only a few. Number one is that the head phones that they supply you with will feel very uncomfortable if you start to sweat at all, and will also stop working for no reason (mine did). Also, even though it does nearly work for 6-8 hours on one battery it says that it runs for 15 or something like that. It might run for that long if you have the volume really low :). Also when I first got it, installed the software on my computer, and imediatly started copying music over it made me mad that it could only hold about 30 min. EASY SOLUTION open the options window and look throught all of the windows that can be brought up from there and you will see something that talks about the compression. There will be NO compression CD quality compression NEAR CD and FM. So if you like me and you take out your brand-new Rio 600 and dont read the instructions, this might help.
