Rating: Summary: best laptop Review: I did a lot of research before buying this computer, and I can say that this is by far the best laptop you can buy when you consider mobility, performance, and style. You will not find a computer that has better hardware specifications than the Sony VAIO PCG-Z1RA for under $2250. If you're willing to pay this amount for a computer, the Z1RA is the best out there. It's definitely worth the price.
Rating: Summary: Great package, upgraded to XP Pro with no problem Review: I have Sony cameras so I wanted something with firewire and memory stick to do photo and video editing in the field. I started with a Sony GRV-680, or some such, but that was a beast of a laptop, so I got this. So far I love it. I upgraded to XP Pro so I could use offline folders on my wireless network at home, which has worked flawlessly. The built-in 802.11b found my network automatically. I also have an 802.11g card that I pop in when I want more speed. This notebook is a great looking and great performing package. I definitely recommend it.

Rating: Summary: WARNING NOT COMPATIBLE WITH WINDOwS XP PROFESSIONAL Review: I upgraded from Windows XP Home to Professional, and the modem and wireless card do not work. I have been on the phone with Sony support for a few hours and their best answer is that they only support Windows XP Home and that is what the machine was designed for. I cannot believe this answer, particularly given the fact that software and operating systems get upgraded all the time and that the machine has a label that says "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP"
Rating: Summary: like it Review: I've had half a dozen laptops before in my life and this one is the best ever. I leave it on all day at work and it makes no noise and doesn't get the least bit warm. Unlike one of the previous reviewers, I upgraded from Windows XP Home to Windows XP Pro the first day I got it without any problems at all.

Rating: Summary: like it Review: well, i think the laptops great. i love the way it looks, feels, sounds. it was hard for me to get used to the screen - being that the screens big but that everything you're reading is small, but everything seems super, except that i've had it for almost a week and when i leave it on for a little while the enter key seems to stop working. i don't get and sony has no explanation. i would think that being only a week old there should be no problems. but once i get this resolved, it will all be good.
