Summary: Best Laptop I've Every Used or Owned
Review: I've used Sony's, Dells, HP, No Name laptops from taiwan and hands down this is the best laptop I've ever used or owned. Why ? Three things. 1. Discrete video chipset. Most low end laptops have shared video memory. This makes them dogs. 2. DDR Memory. DDR is so much faster than SDRAM it's not funny. This makes for very snappy performance which is more like a traditional desktop. 3. IBM quality and Support. The T and X series laptops come with 3 year warranties. 3 Year! Most companies only offer 1 year. I also bought a T22 for my girlfriend and it ended up frying it's own motherboard about 2 years in. Well I call up IBM and they say no problem. They sent a box to pick it up. It was gone on Tuesday and Back by Thursday good as new! I will probably never buy another laptop unless it says Thinkpad on it.

Pure sugar on top of all that is that the T & X series have Titanium Composite covers which means they are far tougher and more durable than any ABS plastic laptop you'll find out there. I certainly cart mine back and forth all the time and it keeps on ticking. Oh and a vastly underated feature the keyboard light. I wish every laptop had this. You can use a thinkpad in a dark room because it has a small white LED lamp above the keyboard, great in darkened conference rooms and late at night.

If you hunt around and wait for models to be close to End Of Life, you can get great deals. We're talking about only 20% more (say twelve hundred usd) than an equivalent one from one of the other big three (Dell, HP/Compaq). But with a better warranty and IBM quality.
