Summary: Winner in every category you can think of
Review: A quick explanation why this notebook is your best option. I'll try to be as objective as possible :)

Recently it's got very trendy to put laptops in different categories - Desktop Replacement, Business Productivity, etc. I think the reason is that most of the laptops have one or more flaws. For example the GRX VAIO Series are pretty powerful BUT their battery life and weight is awful. The Toshibas are also powerful but they look really ugly, etc, etc.

The Titanium has no flows. Really. It will be whatever you need it to be. You buy one, you don't need anything else.

It looks cool - it's prettier than the photos on Apple's site. It's ... fast (multitasking is better than Windows). It has iTunes (I got used to Winamp on my PC, but I start to like iTunes). It connects to Windows networks very easy (there's a shortcut). The Jaguar OS is maybe two years ahead of any OS you can think of - it has 3D effects, antialiasing, speech recognition and text-to-speech capabilities, user management, whatever you can think of.

End of ad. Any cons? Well... I missed the Del key on the keyboard - then I found the workaround - Fn + Backspace. It tends to get hot after 5 or 6 hours intense work - but not under your hands, just near the screen. The paint on the back of the screen latches can scratch. Something else... I don't know really. I'm too attached to it to say anything bad :)

Some more details to make you salivate:
- The power adapter has five unique features not found in any other adapter.
- The battery shows capacity hardware and software-wise
- The slot-loading CD is just so cool
- The apple on the backside really glows
- The speakers are too good for their size
- The keys are slightly transparent with fantastic white and gray labels in italic on them (eject, volume and brightness on keyboard)
- 1280x854 px is great for lots of applications
- It's so quiet it's scary
- People around you tend to forget their stuff when they see the TiBook...

C'moooon - buy it already! Or, if you just need the glamour effect - take an iBook :)

Summary: The only Mac to buy
Review: I got burned by an iBook that I returned (so slow I couldn't run any usuable software), broke down and went out today and bought a Powerbook. I am much happier.

The screen is a usuable size! Yeah! The 12" iBook screens are unusable and the 14" screens are poor quality. The screen on my Powerbook is great!

My only complaint? I use PCs at work and they have left Apple behind by a mile when it comes to performance. The first thing I did was go to work and installed some benchmarking programs. The result? My Powerbook BLOWS AWAY the iBook! However the PC (a 1.8 P4 notebook) was 20-100%.

Still, I will take the performance hit (it's good enough for me) in order to stick with the Mac. Hey, I'm a nerd and proud of it!!

Summary: back to the mac
Review: I have had this baby for about 2 weeks now and there can only be one word that can truly describe it... AMAZING! All the perceptions I have had about macs were... let's just say... wrong! Compatibility issues? Not a problem. After using PCs for the past 7 years or so, I was afraid that I'd have trouble switching files between Windows machines and my new mac.. nuh uh.. they work flawlessly. Only 800mhz, you might say? This thing feels snappy! I actually think that my productivity has grown since getting this machine. If not, it sure seems like it because the environment is a lot more pleasant to work in, thanks to OS X. I don't see any speed differences doing what I do between my 1.8ghz P4 desktop (which I haven't touched since I got this baby, it does everything I need!) and this machine. Too expensive? Not really... a comparably equipped Dell laptop is about the same price, but without the sleek exterior and the wonderful OS. No floppy drive? lol, I haven't used one of those since.. I don't know.. been too long to remember.

If you're having doubts about this machine, go check one out at an apple retailer and you won't be disappointed.

Summary: From a long time PC user.........
Review: I have to say after three months with this baby, I'm pretty satisfied. OS X is easy and manageable, and has never, ever crashed on me; applications have though. Yet, the keyboard does push into the screen slightly when closed, so you will see little keyboard marks on the screen when turned off. A few other problems are that the notebook can get very hot if a CPU intesive app is used and the 802.11b Wi-Fi looses some of it's range (about 150 ft) because the titanium is blocking signals.

Summary: Simply Put, the best computer I've ever owned
Review: I think the title says it all, the display is wondeful and big with a viewing angle that is amazing. The feel and the look of the laptop is great. The battery has a long life as well as everything I need standard. It feels snappy, much more snappier then I expected from a laptop and OS X is just a joy to have. I love almost everything about it, and I wouldn't give it up for anything.
But, there are always buts, I do have a few problems with it (hince the 4 stars). First and foremost is the paint chipping problem. It is kinda annoying and I wish it could be better. Second, is that it is extremely hard to get the ethernet cord out of the back of the machine because the hinge interfers. Finally, the Airport range is smaller compared to iBooks. But do not get me wrong, I strongly reccomend this computer to anyone and the problems I have are only minnor annoyances.

Summary: Computer is great, screen is average, support is nonexistant
Review: I use a Powerbook at work for most of what I do and I don't know how I lived without it. I only have two complaints: the LCD screen is clearly the cheapest component on the machine and isn't very bright. I bothered to look up the specs one day and yeah, it's pretty low on the scale for contrast and brightness. Shame on you Jobs. Still it is more than adequate for my needs, I just turn the lights down when I use it. My other complaint is Apple support is the pits. You can't get a human on the phone and they are ignorant of the most basic computing questions. I work for a small graphics company and we don't have a big IT staff. We are a good customer for Apple and you would think they would give us the time of day! Nope.

Summary: Wonderful Machine, Lots of Happiness
Review: I'm personally surprised to see the Powerbook G4 listed so low in comparison to the other laptops and powerbooks on the list. No doubt this is because fewer people own Macs than Sonys or Toshibas. This is a shame, really, since it means so few people know about Mac power and beauty, which overshadows PC's every time. I bought my first computer, a Mac, in 1994 (Performa 636CD!) and I've used it nonstop since that time. But I decided it was time to upgrade this year and I bought my baby G4 a month ago. It works like a dream and has yet to give me one ounce of trouble. I surf the Internet like a pro and I'm a huge fan of iTunes. Unlike another reviewer, I have switched from OS X to OS 9 for some programs and it was easy. Don't be a fool. Get a Mac and you'll have it for years and never feel deprived.
