Summary: Not what I had hoped for
Review: I bought these to use after the rest of the family had gone to bed, so I could listed to music & watch movies without disturbing them.Unlike some of the other reviewers, I found the sound to be generally perfectly fine. Unfortunately, the sound was only clear when my head was stationary. Moving around the house or even turning my head cause a lot of cracks and pops in the sound. I found this so intrusive that these went back to Amazon after only a few hours. I couldn't see the point of paying ...for headphones that made my CDs sound like they were being played on a distant radio station. I guess that this is unavoidable to some extent, given that it is a radio signal that carries the sound to the headphones, but I was appalled how bad it was. So, I guess my take-home message is that if you're considering these as your first wireless headphones, be prepared that the sound quality will not be as good as a pair that come with a cord.

Summary: Terrible
Review: I got this headphones on December 18,2004.As of March 23,2004,today,the headphones keep shutting down after a few minutes,the system just doesn't stay on.When I do get them to work(just for a few minutes) and turn my head the sound cuts out.There is a two year warranty,parts and labor but according to Amazon's customer service you have to address the manafacturer to honor the 2 year warranty ,and guess what?THE MANUFACTURER IS IN GERMANY.

Summary: Terrible, but one of the best
Review: I have been going through wireless headphones like kleenex, trying to get it right. 900 Mhz technology is just not good enough. But these Sennheisers were overall the least noisy. I ended up buying the Amphony 2.4 Ghz too, which are almost totally quiet, unless a stray wave comes from somewhere and then prepare to have your head blown off. And definitely don't try to run the microwave while wearing the Amphonies! And you can't go into another room with the Amphonies. But if you sit very still right in front of the TV they're the best. What I was doing was switching to the RS-65s everytime I wanted to get up or run the microwave and it worked out pretty well for awhile, but then the stupid cheapo design of these Sennheisers the earcup broke off! I fought with it for awhile, with one earcup dangling down, but it was ridiculous. I just tried the Acoustic Research headphones and they were a complete joke. So, I guess I'll probably order another pair of these junky things and try to be careful with the earcup.

Summary: Good sound - poor durability
Review: I have now owned two sets of wireless Sennheisers, the RS-65 and the prior design, the T4-9. Sennheiser has made great design improvements in the past few years, especially regarding comfort. Specifically, the prior version had a flat foam surface that pressed against your whole ear. This version has a velvet-like cup that surounds you ear without pressing it into your head. It's interesting that some people say they are uncomfortable. I disagree - I find them light and reasonably comfortable. The sound quality is good, but there is an important caveat: wireless headphones always come with more static than wired headphones. I found that it was not a problem when I was in the same room as the transmitter. In the old version the static would increase slowly as you walked away. The RS design blocks noise until a threshold S/N ratio is reached - then there is no sound at all. It would be nice if you could choose that functionality because when I'm using them for the TV it's more important to at least hear something than to hear clear sound and then no sound. MY BIG COMPLAINT: The first Sennheisers I owned lasted for a year and then the structural headband broke. They still worked but you had to tape them up. The second Sennheisers I owned lasted for a year and then, you guessed it - SAME PROBLEM. I'm not knocking these things around, just taking on and off. For expensive headphones, these are just not made well enough. I don't know if I would buy Sennheisers again without evidence that the band was made better. I strongly recommend you buy them with an extended warranty.

I thought that I stepped on one to break it but the other one definetly broke during normal use. So far I have been searching for replacement brackets online but no luck. I will call Sennheiser directly tommorrow. I paid alot for these headphones and expected longer service. We did like theses headphones very much until they broke after a year or so. Previously we had Advent headphones that we had to tweak the tuning on constantly to get reception. I am thinking about gutting the electronics out of the headphones and building a little box that I can put in my pocket and plug wired headphones into so that when they break they'll be cheap to replace.

Summary: Sennheiser RS-65 vs AR AW721
Review: I just bought these and have a few obvservations that might be helpful. I replaced the AR AW721 with these. The foam on the ARs were starting to break down and flake off after a couple of years. These have valour so should hold up better. The Sennheiser sound better than the ARs. There is less static and the range is better. I think they are both comfortable with the edge going to the ARs because the ear foam is softer and a bit larger. The Sennheiser is lighter weight which I like. The ARs are a closed design and the Sennheiser are an open design. You will hear more room noise with the Sennheiser than the ARs. My daughter uses them to watch movies when we have people over so she likes not hearing as much room noise. The Sennheiser is more money, better sound and reception, lighter weight, but are all plastic. I have concerns how they will hold up over the long run. The AR is heavier, a bit more comfortable (especially for those with larger ears, and I think more durable. Ours gets thrown around quite a bit. I bought an extra set so two people can listen at the same time. If you are thinking of a second pair I would recommend getting two COMPLETE units and not getting the ADDITIONAL second unit. The complete units are about twenty dollars more, but you get two addition batteries instead of one and another charging base so I think it's a better deal. I did audition the new Pioneer 800 5.1 surround sound headphone also. They sound fantastic BUT they work on IR (line of sight) and the range was not that great and cut out pretty quickly. I suggest you check these out is a store first if you are interested in the Pioneers.

Review: I just recived my headphones last week and am very pleased with the quality put into the product. I'm a audio nut and can be very hard to please. The Senneiser phones are true hifi sounding headphone. I've run them through my equalizer also and that will push the sound level to the max. I like the fact that you can still here someone talk to you with them on.---But If you have big ears you might have a problem with the fit. Summary: Agree with the poor review...
Review: I picked up a pair of the rs-65's cheap from Amazon for watching movies and listening to music at night, so as not to disturb my wife and daughter. I have to agree with the previous reviewer's negative review---though they are not the worst headphones I've ever heard, they are not a good value for the money. When I first took them out of the box, my impression was, "Gee, these things are made of some pretty cheesy plastic." Getting a good, comfortable fit for me was impossible, and wearing them through a whole CD or movie was not a pleasant experience. While the range for actually hearing some kind of sound may be ok, even a few feet away from the transmitter there is still static, which is very distracting while listening to music. Watching a movie is a little better, as you sit in one position, but even turning your head from side to side creates noise---I just can't bear to have noise interfere with the sound. Even aside from the static, the sound from these headphones is not good for the money. My corded Koss Portapros (you can check them out here on Amazon---much cheaper) sound infinitely better, and they are by no means an audiophile set of phones. These headphones also have a surround sound feature which adds some "space" to the sound in your head, though the overall effect is pretty weak and does not compare with a true surround sound 5.1 system. Overall, I thought these headphones had tolerable sound for movies, but were just too uncomfortable to wear through an entire feature. After doing more research, I think wireless headphone technology still needs much improvement, and I plan to stay with corded phones for now.

Summary: These have worked great so far.
Review: I purchased the SR65, and been using them for an hour so far. The sound is great for wireless headphones. No distortion of crackle, and Im sitting about 15 ft away from the base. The base sits behind the TV, so it's not in direct view of the headset. I get a litle crackle when I go in the next room, but it only does it for less than a second and then it sounds just fine. I was going to buy the SR85 when Amazon had it for 169.00 but decided against it. If you are undecided about what model to get, my vote is for the SR65. Will see about the comfort level, I have a small head and they feel very cormftable so far.
Very satisfied.
