Rating: Summary: No restore CDs Review: First of all I am not 12, I just didn't want to go thru the signup process and get spammed even more. I would have to advise everyone to stay away from any HP products, the lack of restore CDs is an obvious effort to save a few dollars and at the same time get more money from you when the warranty runs out, and it seriously devalues your significant investment. Buyer be warned, go elsewhere!

Rating: Summary: Value Computer Review: I have had this computer for over half a year and still love it. I have had no problems with it. With a Pentium 4, 256 MB of RAM, and a 32 MB video card this model has a lot of speed for the price, making it a great value. It has alot of software included including a great cd burning program. This is a great computer.
Rating: Summary: The 7955 is a real deal! Review: I recently purchased a HP7955 from Circuit City. The machine is a dream. Something new for me, everything worked - correctly - as soon as I plugged it in. I'm not a novice with desktop machines and I can only say this one is superb! It came loaded with Windows XP (which some have said is short for extra pain)however, Win XP with the 7955 is a great match. The computer is quick and very forgiving of stupid things that I do from time to time. If you're considering a new computer, I recommend you consider the 7955. It isn't the top of the line but unless you're doing extreme graphics or nuclear physics research style number crunching, it will be a most satisfying investment. This machine would be a good choice for the high schooler who is headed to college soon. It will perform more than adequately and will take all the abuse a youngster in school might dish out. Plus it has a bulletproof warranty.
Rating: Summary: the best pc around Review: i would recommend this desktop to anyone looking for a great computer,i am greatfully satisfied with this product.
Rating: Summary: good starter PC, but thats it Review: I've owned this machine for about 4 months now, and it's my first computer purchase. I needed a computer for school and didn't have a whole lot to spend, and given a choice between HP, Compaq, e-Machines, and Sony for under $1000, I went with HP after inquiring a number of people about their experiences. Now I knew I wasn't buying a top of the line computer, but $1K isnt exactly pocket change either. PROS: The price is decent, it comes pre-loaded with Windows XP, a 16X CD/RW drive, and a (useless, but nice to have )DVD-ROM. It has a good enough USB ports to hook up your scanner, digital camera, joystick, and printer. It's easy to hook up, and easy to use. I really had no prior experience with computers before and found myself installing hardware, software, and running programs in no time. This thing is great for playing games, but if thats your bag, just buy an xbox or somthing. CONS: There's a few. First, is HP customer service. They dont have a toll free number, and the quality of service you get depends on the luck of the draw...will you get the disintersted, rude but knowledgable tech, the nice but clueless tech, or will you get that rare person with a balance of both? In comparison to the excellent service from Apple and Dell (whom I did deal with before for other people), HP's service is plain awful. And to boot, you have to pay for long distance charges. They dont have an 800 number. The "Instant Support" option on the PC is anything but instant. I have seen other complaints about this as well. I have waited up to a half an hour to receive an acknowledgement of my questions. The 40 GB hard drive stat is misleading. What they dont tell you is that HP opted to put their system recovery on the Hard drive, instead of on CD's. So in effect, the factory software is installed twice on your machine. The recovery partition takes up 8GB, and then 8 more GB is used on the user partition. So you only have about 24 GB of usable hard drive space out of the box. Im a bit ticked off about that. I am going to pursue this issue with HP and demand a CD recovery be sent to me. If the whole hard drive crashes after the warranty is up, what would I do to restore? Pay for a new hard drive perhaps? There really is no spectacular software installed either. I dont know what is taking up 8 GB on this thing, but there's nothing useful that came with this machine that I use regularly. This thing is a bit glitchy. I have kept my PC up to date with all the latest patches, etc, but programs will occasionally just shut down and dump all the data for no reason. If you own this computer, make sure you SAVE SAVE SAVE...at least once every couple minute. I lost 2 nearly full-length speeches and college papers so far. The CD burner fails an average one of 5 times, and has turned a large number of my blank CD-R's into drink coasters. Despite HP's recommendation to use only 74 minute discs, it still does it. Lastly, DO NOT install McAfee VirusScan on this machine. It made everything go haywire and wont uninstall. Use Norton or something else instead. Trust me. For the basic things I need, I'll live with it. If you're looking for a realiable PC to do serious work on 24-7, I would steer clear. I do not trust this thing as far as I can throw it. I save everything onto CD-RW's so in case the thing crashes (and Im sure it will one day soon). But if I had to do it again, I would have taken the money I paid for this HP and put it as a downpayment on a Dell. For your first PC to learn on, surf the net, or play games, I'd say its a good cheap buy. But now that I know a little more about these things, I wish I would have bought something else a bit more reliable.

Rating: Summary: Nice machine but support could be better. Review: Machine has alot of good features, but it could do with a few less pop-ups.I find that all the distractions by the reminders really get in the way of enjoying the programs I really want to use. The system restore feature is a life saver, if it used properly. The other nice programs are HP record,The MP3 player, photo studio, the tools in help and support, and the PC doctor, it kind of makes up for the down side of this machine, the telephone support (that you have to pay for, no 800#)and windows xp! What's with all the updates anyway,I feel maybe this window system may need a few more updates. Can anybody really tell me what system I relly have, or what system it was before all the updates. I seem to be getting conflicting info on that topic, when your tech support has a different property screen than you for the network adapter, it gives you some food for thought. Like I said in the being,it really has alot of nice features that you can use,or a multitude of tasks that you could perform if you didn't have to spend so much time to get the window platform and hp instant help to see your broadband connection,if your not part of the NETWORK. Well, I end here, with, where's the reboot CD's while I still have few good thoughts about my computer.
