Rating: Summary: WOW!!!!!! Review: I expected a great iMac but what I received was far above my expectations. Fast and loaded with software. Large built in hard drive. This iMac even has a fan, yes thats right a fan (long known to be Steve Jobs pet pieve, fan noise), the fan is so quiet you don't even know its there and it speeds up depending on the iMacs temp. The number one winner for me though is the flat panel display. This is the first flat panel that I have owned and it has improved my health. The standard monitors are terrible on your eyes and I was having headaches as well as eye fatigue. Well I am proud to say that all those problems have gone away with the introduction of this flat panel and being that it is a new gadget I have been in front of it longer than normal & that is quite a feat. One more thing, Apple has not been clear about memory on its web site or other literature. These iMac G4's use 133 mhz memory. If 100 mhz memory is installed the iMac will act like a lemon (working fine then doing erratic behavior, locking up, ect). Many resellers were (& some probably still are) putting the wrong type of memory in these new macs. Beware 133 mhz must be used, up to 512mb in the user slot & 512 in the apple slot(apple slot must be installed by authorized Apple personel or the warranty will be void). So if you plan to spend the money on memory which you should have the Apple internal slot upgraded to 512mb since you can add or remove from the other slot (user slot) without voiding the warranty at a later date. This is my 4th computer and by far leaps and bounds above anything I have owned.
Rating: Summary: Before you buy a Mac know: Review: The top reason not to but one is the software compatibility issue. Before you buy keep in mind you can not run windows software on this Mac. The software that you can but is unreasonably priced. For the price of this Mac you can get a Intel PC that is twice as fast or even faster if you build it your self. I play games at plenty of LAN parties this requires me to bring my PC to the building. I could not do this if I had a Mac. The bottom like is Mac lost the race for the computer market and if you purchase a Mac there is a lack of software and it is not compatible with the majority of the PCs in the world. I have Mac users come to me with their papers on a disk and want to work on it at school and they can not. The majority of schools do not use Macs so. If you do think you want to waist money on this computer keep in mind that you can not put that Mac disk in other PCs and you will have a hard time finding software. So purchase a Intel based computer if you are interactive with people or go to school or plan on brining your work home. Purchase a Mac if you are computer illiterate and do not ever planning on using a PC at school or at work. One other thing the Macs mercury switch is to sensitive, a gust of wind could come by and shut the thing off. From all the users I talk to they love their Mac but they also have PC so they can install new programs and transfer software from work or school to their home.
Rating: Summary: Best Computer I've had the pleasure of owning... Review: For the record, this is my 10th Macintosh I have purchased over the last 18 years and it rocks in terms of innovation, engineering, power AND value. I agree with the other testimonials, but wish to emphasize the eloquent integration of hardware, operating system and application software that makes this machine THE digital hub. I plug in my iPod (a must if you are into music) and my entire music library is instantaneously copied to my handheld digital wonder. I plug in my digital camera and photos are swept into iPhoto for archival storage, organization and the creation of slide shows set to your own music that can then be burned into a DVD. You can even add titles and incorporate video footage with dazzling effects via iMovie. This year my family members are getting DVD players so I can take them firmly into the wonders of digital multimedia familly movies. All of this through the magic of this remarkable computer.
Rating: Summary: Love the imac hate the red dot in the middle of my screen Review: I got my new iMac a week ago today. I am a long time PC user but I love the way this Mac looks and works. Yes it takes a little translation of terms and there is a learning curve to make things work but it all works really well -EXCEPT!!!!!! After three days of using the computer a little red dot showed up in the very middle of the screen as well as in the left hand corner, it is a pixel anomoly, meaning a sub pixel of a pixel is stuck on in red. I contacted Apple support immediately and had even purchased the Apple Care protection program. They emailed me a very vague document basically saying the that it was impossible to build a perfect LCD screen without it costing to much for consumer production and that mine did not even warrant an evaluation much less replacement or repair. In others words tough luck....
Rating: Summary: iMac Family Review: I ordered this computer the same day that Steve Jobs announced it to the electronic world. For those who are not sure if they want to purchase this computer let me me tell you this: You already know from the description on the iMac and other reviews what you get with the computer, but let me tell you about the bottom line. You open the box. Take off the protective shipping material and you have only one thing to lift out the computer/monitor. You unwrap it, place it on the desk, plug in the keyboard, mouse and power unit and within 3-5 mins your done. Turn it on and enjoy. The computer is so quiet you'll think it's not on. But soon the brilliant color of the detailed monitor will light up. This new iMac lives up to everything it promises. If you are still not sure about buying this listen: there are now 2 new iMacs in my family and planning on more. And i come from an IBM computer background. Oh, before I forget if you are comparing this to a Sony Vioa or what ever its called. Don't waste the money on Sony. You have found the ultimate computer. Maybe I should work for Apple..haha.....Enjoy!!

Rating: Summary: The Greatest Personal Computer On Earth Review: Absolute breathtaking industrial design combined with Apple's mezmerizingly beautiful and absolutely crash-proof OS X operating system. Using this computer at home makes my Pentium 4 Dell with Windows XP at the office seem like cave-man technology. I will never buy another Microsoft-based second rate machine. My only complaint: Apple seems to have run out of these so quickly that I haven't been able to buy more of them for the rest of my family.
Rating: Summary: The Computer As Modern Art Review: Even though I had studied every picture available of the new iMac, I was simply shocked at how beautiful it was when I started taking it out of the box. The brochures and online pictures don't really capture the effect you get when it's sitting there in front of you. Once I had it all unwrapped, I just stared at it a few moments, stunned. (And that's before I even turned it on.)I plugged in the cords, pressed the on button (that's all there is to set-up) and sat back amazed as the opening notes started coming out of the speakers and the first images lit up the screen. For an instant treat when you first start it up (and to check out the INCREDIBLE quality of the flat screen) click on one of the songs preloaded in iTunes and turn on the visuals full screen - the colors and effects are amazing and beautiful! Other folks here will go in-depth into the features; I just wanted to give you a sense of those first few amazing moments with the new iMac. BTW, this is my first Apple product, I went from just curious to total fan in .001 seconds! The flat screen iMac really is a modern design marvel. When you unpack yours, invite a couple friends over because you won't want to be alone. I was, and it's really hard to pass on the wonder over the phone. When my friends did see it, they pretty much all had the same OMG reaction that I had. Enjoy, this computer is all about being enjoyed! (And so worth every penny, did I mention that?!)
Rating: Summary: This one brought me back to Macs. Review: After doing quite a bit of research on these, and checking out the store demos, I decided to go ahead and pick one up. I lucked out and found one in a CompUSA that had just been stocked, snagged it and took it home. I have a lot of good things to say about this. I've always been a closet Mac person, but this one is worth bragging about. The screen is phenomenal, it looks very cool, and the performance is snappy. I do not experience the DVD playback problems I've seen mentioned (audio sync problems). Pros: Cool looks, good performance, OSX is great. Cons: For some reason the new keyboard doesn't have the power button anymore, and the button on the unit is toward the back. Would rather have USB/Firewire in front or on the side, more accessible, instead of on the rear. Not sure why Apple isn't including a scroll wheel/two button mouse yet, OSX is supposed to support it.
