Summary: small gripes but satisfied
Review: great deal for the price. I had to use a headphone amp to eliminate the hiss from my computer's output. The cans are light and sound quality is pretty decent. One warning tough, if you leave it on for a few minutes without using it (no sound output) the base unit will automatically shut off and you'll hear a loud pop. One time I had the volume up pretty high and the pop left my ears ringing.

Summary: Treadmill Interferes with Headset Reception
Review: I bought this headset so I could watch a TV while using my Pacemaker treadmill. However, as soon as I turn on the treadmill I either get so much static I can't hear the TV or the sound disappears all together. There is no way to change to another frequency that might not cause as much interference. When the treadmill is off the sound quality seems good and the range is reasonable.

Summary: Ok for TV sound, not for music; get something cheaper
Review: I guess no matter what wireless technology is used -- infrared, 900Mhz, 2.4Ghz, whatever -- sound quality simply cannot be called "good." Of all the wireless headphones I've tried, none is good for music listening. The only use is for watching TV late at night without disturbing other occupants of your living space. This Sony infrared set is the same. It's no better or worse than other infrared sets. Be prepared for lots of hisses, even when you are just a couple feet away from the transmitter.
While this Sony set is inexpensive, you can get a similar-performing pair sold under the Radio Shack brand at Radio Shack for under $20. For all the hisses and poor sound quality, I think that's a fairer price to pay. Radio Shack part no. 33-1234.

Review: i liked the lightweight design of the headphones and the simplicity of the whole system. but i have to disagree with the description about other statistics. - i only got about 12 feet of range. meaning i could be in the same room and could not get reception.
- the headphones only worked within a very small angle. not 90 degrees as advertised. i could hear fine in the middle of the couch facing the stereo, but move to the end and i got nothing.
- when someone got between me and the antenna, the music would cut out. the price was right and i'm sure these are fine if you are sitting directly in front of your stereo or tv without moving and making sure no one walks in front of you. but that's not what i wanted.

Summary: Died after 1 year
Review: I loved these headphones. Lightweight, never had to worry about charging them. You did have to stay in line of site with them, which was a little irritating. But my pair was flawed. After a few months the right side started to short out. The problem was in the volume control. It would short out at some levels. The right earpiece died completely at about 8 months. Now a few months later, both sides have shorted out. I bought them in December 03 and now January 05 they are dead. When I contacted Sony during warranty, I was given the choice to send them away for repair (I pay shipping). Seemed to be too much work and expense to save these headphones. Too bad. I liked the design.

Summary: Ideal for students
Review: I received these around June 15, 2004, and on November 28, 2004, the battery finally ran out. I use these every day and every night to go to sleep by, and am not even always conscientious about turning them off or putting them in the charger, so I have found the lifespan of the included battery to be wonderful. If you live in any kind of shared room, as in a dorm or barracks, these are perfect. Mine are hooked up to my computer and I can watch movies, listen to music, and hear anything on the internet without my roommate having to hear what I'm listening to. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable for most normal people, and the limited range isn't an issue in a dormroom setting. I love these.

Review: I use them in a bedroom for TV, stereo, and PC; range has not been an issue at all. If you chiefly want range, buy RF (radio frequency) 'phones. I've owned these for a good three months with no more than the initial charge (using them an avg of 2hrs/wk)! I just lay them over the stand instead of in the upright charge position. Sound quality is good; I notice no degradation, only the change in audio channel type. They are comfortable. I don't see a drawback to the top part resting on your head like normal 'phones do. The earpads are like a Walkman's, not the "plushy" kind that make your ears warm in a short time. Small and lightweight like Walkman 'phones, this item passes every test of functionality and looks good doing it!

Summary: For casual use like tv...not for music lovers
Review: I use these headphones primarily for computer use. Just because it's infrared doesn't mean it's free from background static noise. If your intent is to listen to music, then I'd steer clear of these. There is still a slight hiss, no matter how close you are...at which point you'll ask why you even bought a wireless.
The construction is not all bad, but you can tell why this thing is inexpensive. The ear muffs feel rather cheap and get uncomfortable in a short time. Then there is this annoying metal twang that you hear as it settles on your head. I kept wondering what it was until I realized that was something internal with the headphone's structure.
In sum: get only if you can't afford anything else and really must have a wireless. This is bottom of the barrel stuff...hence the low price. But hey, it does work, although the tuning quality isn't great. Good for non-serious use like watching tv, but not for listening to music.

Summary: A great buy!
Review: I've had these headphones for about a month now, and they have performed excellently throughout.
My previous set of wireless headphones required constant tuning and often lost the signal of the base station. These headphones, conversely, have a large range of reception and generate little static throughout that area. Charging is simple--simply place the headphones on the base station to recharge. While the included rechargeable battery supposedly has a 15-hour limit, I've yet to lose power--although I've never really put them to the test, as recharging is so simple that it becomes reflexive.
The battery can also be replaced by 60-hour AAA Bateries (not included).
Sound quality is good--not as crisp as some high-end pairs of headphones, but about as good as a pair of around-ear headphones and certainly as good as traditional PC speakers. While there is a faint hissing noise produced by the headsets, I didn't find it annoying or hindering in gaming, listening to music, or watching movies.
Bass is decent.
My only issue with the headphones is that they don't turn on instantly when returning from "standby" mode, which they enter after a few minutes without use. The delay is only a second or two, however, and not a major concern.
Otherwise, I wholeheartedly encourage the selection of these headphones.
