Summary: Great Product from Acoustic Research
Review: I bought my AW791 from Ebay a year ago and all I can say is it's money well spent. It sells for about $200 but I got mine cheap for $120. I had a problem with to much hiss at first, but it went away as I continued to use it. I also tried different types of connections and cables and I had to settle for Monster Cables. I found out that utilizing the Digital Coax or Optical input jacks at the back of the unit, combined with FULLY CHARGED batteries, (this is very important) would eliminate the hiss. It has Dolby Digital capability so I use the Surround Sound when I'm watching a movie and switch to Dolby Stereo whenever I want to just listen to music. The Bass is hefty and the Surround effect is fantastic. Your ears will be ungulfed in sound details, which in my opinion can rival any sound from a studio room. You can connect 3 audio sources to this baby, 2 Digital and 1 Analog audio inputs. I connected 1 Monster M1000D Coax to my computer and 1 Monster Cable Ref Optical to my Onkyo receiver outs, and I can walk around the house listening to just about anything.

Summary: Good sound, unfortunately plenty of static
Review: I bought these yesterday and returned them today. No matter where I put them I had static and a definate whine in the background. The static I could have handled. The whine though was just to much to tolerate for a 249$ product. I was going to use these for movies and I must say the actual sound is better than my Sennheisser RS65's. I really would have liked to have kept them but that high pitched whine in the background was just to much.

Summary: Save your money. This is pure junk
Review: I bought this headset with anticipation of high quality surround sound wireless. What I got was PFfffttt every few seconds, and a constant desire to change the position of my head (8 feet from the transmitter). Fortunately after a couple of sad attempts at watching movies with these headphones they simply broke for no reason at all... no stress, no kid playing with them... just cheap plastic cracking like a kids toy from burger world. I tossed them in the trash with disgust. Save your money.

Review: I concur, if you can tilt your head just right, the sound quality is nice (but the whine is still there). But the static and whine are horrible, even 2' away from the base. Returning.

Summary: Buyer Beware of Breakage!
Review: I got for Christmas, great sound, but they physically broke the second day from normal use. It appears to be a design flaw in the piece that connects the lower section of the headset to the upper, just above the earpiece. If you've had the same problem please let AR know so they will re-design or make a modification to fix the problem. Luckily I was able to return them for a full refund, which is when I was told by a store rep that they have had a lot of returns for the same reason. I also sent an email to AR customer service for them to notify me of any plans for a fix.

Summary: I love these things!
Review: I got these for my 15th birthday and since I'm always up watching movies in the late hours, listening to music around the same time and in close proximity to parents I can't use speakers which I'd always rather have, but can't always. Anyways, I love these headphones. My brother got a pair about 2 years ago and loved/s them, but I had no need really. All of a sudden I'm in his position so my parents got me these about three months ago and haven't proven any huge problems. I had read before on here that people had a problem with them breaking, which mine did not too long ago (and seems too be a common problem), but other than that they're SOOO perfect. I went around the block and they cut out a little bit, but I hadn't tuned them for a month and it was still way above average and far beyond my expectations.
All those other people giving 3 and fewer stars complained about too much and gave them a whole lot less credit than they deserve - technology always has flaws but these are just about top of the line technology even for now. They need to figure out about that little "Frequency Adjust" knob on the back of the receiver and try it out - turn it all one way and it'll work for you up to about 600 feet - or at least it did for me. I hate the breakage, but it's been taped and they work still, so I'd have to give them a 4 7/8 star if I could. I would super-recommend these to anyone who wants or needs them, but be warned about the left side and if you have a fat head like mine they get a little tight after a while.
They came with a standard large headphone jack; a 2-prong wall adapter and an adapter to plug into those excessively large stereo jacks if you have one that big. I never get any hiss unless I'm too lazy to tune (which takes about 30 seconds max - if you know what you're doing), and even then a little turn of a knob fixes everything. My review is super long and you should realize these are great things and take advantage of technology - even if it does break in little places. I LOVE these.

Summary: Backgroud "Hiss" ruins the experience
Review: I have been shopping for wireless headphones to watch t.v.
for awhile and I was very excited to try these out.
After connecting them to the Digitical Optical Output on my
receiver I was ready to be blown away! What a dissapointment.During the dialog of a movie there was a constant "hiss" in the backgroud and the max. volume is not that high. So, if you want to crank up the volume while watching a music or movie DVD movie you will be disappointed. The one positive is that when watching a movie, if they are not talking and it is an action scene, the sound is very good.
But, as soon as they began to speak the "hiss" happens again. Do not buy these, buy Sennheisers HD-65. They don't have the constant "hiss" and the max. volume is much higher. Trust me, I tried half a dozen wireless models.

Summary: decent sound, fragile headphone
Review: I have had the headphones for about a month and only used them every few days. The left earpiece broke off as I removed the headphones from my head. The headphones were never dropped or mistreated. The sound was good with occassional snaps and hisses but for a wireless product its hard to expect more sound quality.
I am returning the headphones and buying another brand.

Summary: They work well for me!
Review: I like them alot! The tuning dial on the base allows for a slight changing of the frequency just in case you need to alter them. Then you just tune the headphone dial to sync them up, simple! Tuning the input is easy also if you read the directions thoroughly. I'm surprised at how well they sound, much better than I expected. The only thing I don't care for is the headband. They should have a soft headband of some sort. I also think that they squeeze a little too tight. I do like the hear through design too, so that your able to hear sounds around you while listening, so you don't miss the phone or the door being knocked on. Overall, I think they're worthy. Oh yeah, battery life in mine seems really good. Fell asleep with them on last night. Started using the H-phones about 3pm yesterday, used all last night, and am using them today for 3 or 4 hours so far, all on the same charge. I have a 900mhz security cam system, a 2.4 DSS phone, am frequently next to a PC w/2 monitors, and have no interference. Check your frequencies to see if their different before purchasing if you have other wireless stuff.

Summary: be afraid
Review: I read all the reviews with all the complaints, There is a hiss, there is a squeel, they broke. I paid no attention. What a fool.
First-there is a hiss, almost continuosly,unless you get into that perfect sweet spot(almost never). Even when standing right next to the receiver-still hiss. Not a big problem when listening to music or a movie with a lot of sound, but in silent spots its a little annoying. Second-when there is heavy bass,mainly in surround sound mode, you will hear a slight high frequency sound(especially in low rumbles). Still not that big of a deal. Third complaint-they broke. I threw this off as the owner mishandled them or let their kids play with them. I was wrong. After hearing the compliant I took extra care to be very gentle with them. Didn't work. And alas for some unknown reason, did not fit on my head one day. Confused, I took them off finding the left ear piece was broken. BROKEN! I had them for a week. Used them not even every day (max may 1.5 hours once). I was extra careful to handle them gently and still. Move away slowly. NO RUN!! RUN!!!
