Summary: Good sound and sooooo comfortable!!
Review: I was less than thrilled with my portable MP3 jukebox headphones so I decided to shop for an alternative. After reading a bunch of reviews, I purchased these and have really been thrilled. The audio quality is very good. A little equalization for the mids and highs and they sound amazing. Of course the absolute best thing about them is the comfort. The parts which touch your ear are made of a soft silicone so there is very little pressure. I can wear them for hours at a time and barely remember that they're on. The sound isolation is outstanding. They produce a full sound which will drown out almost any environmental noise yet they don't leak sound and annoy everyone within 10 feet.

It so happens that I work for a company which develops digital audio processing technology. We have some of the best headphones and headphone amplifiers commercially available. When I need to really critically listen to audio, I reach for my Sennheiser HD600's. Unfortunately, while they sound stunning and can reproduce very subtle audio nuances, they're also bulky and press against the sides of my head. After an hour or so, I need to take a break or I start to develop headaches. I simply can't use them for daily constant use. The Sony Fontopias are just the ticket.

Summary: Unbelievable sound.....
Review: I was looking for new headphones for my iPod and PowerBook G4 computer.

I read all the reviews, and decided to take the plunge with the MDR-EX70LPs.

They are, in short, stunning.

I broke open the package, determined that the medium-sized ear buds fit best, and plugged them into my laptop. The sound is the best I've ever experienced from a pair of headphones this inconspicuous.

I sat in the coffee shop that day and worked on my laptop all afternoon. I had the earbuds in for 3-4 hours straight with absolutely no fatigue or discomfort.

They make the iPod sound even better.

Best 50 bucks I've spent in a long time. Run, do not walk, to find a pair of these headphones!

Summary: Excellent Sound Quality-Minor Discomfort
Review: I was skeptical about claims regarding bass reproduction, clarity, etc. However, once properly set in my ears they deliver astonishing sound. This is great if you have excellent source material. But any flaws in the recording that could in the past hide behind sloppy reproduction will be bright and clear. One caveat: I get the best sound reproduction when the ear buds are set securely in my ear canal. Sony provides silicone cushions of several sizes to accommodate the expected variation in anatomy, but they may still cause some discomfort for some. I find that if I wear them for more than an hour, I run the risk of this discomfort. For relief I simply remove them for about a minute. They also do a fairly good job of blocking out noise from outside--be aware of this if you find yourself in circumstances where you need to hear what's going on around you.

Summary: WOW!!
Review: I would give these 10 stars!!
I purchased these earbud headphones thinking I could use them at times when I didnt neccesarily need my big bulky noise cancelling headphones. I thought I would just use them as a backup. After using these earbud headphones I was amazed. They delivered great bass and loudness and delivered nice crisp sound. They are nice and compact and come in handy when I am traveling. They also fit great into my ear and were comfortable. I replaced my other headphones with these. BUY THESE!!

Summary: Without a Doubt - The Best Personal Headphones I've Used
Review: I'll make this quite simple for you, these headphones are quite unlike any other personal headphones you've ever used - whether they be in-ear, or the larger variety.

I'm a very keen hi-fi enthusiast, and have always considered personal stereo headphones to be a compromise. After all, you don't want to be walking along the road with a huge set of 'cans' on your head - they might sound great, but it's just not cool.

And this, friends, is where these little fellas come into play.

The usual trade-off with personal headphones, is bass. They sound tinny and hollow. Not so with these.
The bass is deep, the mid-range even, and the treble relatively crisp.

The design of these differ in that they seal themselves deep inside your ear. Sounds uncomfortable, but don't worry, with the three different 'adapters', you'll be catered for.

As a downside, all I will say is that some people have reported that they can fall out whilst jogging. I don't jog, so I don't have that problem. I do walk a lot, however, and they've never budged yet.

Enjoy, and happy listening.

Summary: Great Value
Review: I'm sure there are higher end earbuds that sound better than these for twice the cost but I am very pleased with the Sony's. Most of the time I listen to classical and jazz on my bus ride to work and these earbuds have enabled me to hear things in the music I never noticed before. They do a great job of blocking external noises. Bass, midrange and highs are well balanced. I keep my walkman in my brief case and the cord (with the extension) is fine. I just ordered an iRiver SlimX imp 450 and am hoping that will further improve my listening experience. One thing I noticed was that I felt light headed the first day or so when I started using these. Perhaps just a coincidence.

Summary: Sounds good
Review: I've gone through probably 20 ear buds throughout the years, various brands and different models and currently use these and am quite pleased. I like to listen to a variety of music that requires a good frequency response and these do a good job without spending too much. The sound is more than adequate with a range suitable for most music with a bass that isn't over the top. You get just enough bump and thump. The fit is the best of any I've used. A snug fit that closes the external sounds pretty much and cancels out unwanted interference to your music with the exception of wind when you are moving fast. When you are still they are perfect.I get plenty of use on the road with at times jarring movement and find that they do not fall out like many other models. Although the manufacturer does not recommended them for cycling they are perfect for tunes on the road. A good choice for comfort and above average sound reproduction. If you're looking for something to put in your ears to listen to your tunes than these indiscreetly stylish ear buds are for you.

Summary: Thoroughly overated earbud
Review: I've read many a review waxing on about these earbuds but having listened and compared them to many other units imho they are overated and overpriced. They seem totally unbalanced with a muddy boomy bottom end and a high end that tends towards sibilance. Some bass improvement can be made by putting small pieces of tape over the three holes on the back of each earbud, but I much prefer Koss KSC-50 and Sennheiser MX 500. If you absolutely have to have an ear seal I can't recommend anything more than the Etymotic ER4S although pricey.
