Rating: Summary: Did Their Job Review: I'm a teenager, and like any other I ride a bus in the morning. To try and start my day off ok I like to listen to my cd player or portable radio. But the people on my bus like to start their day off by talking. Although the converstaions were still there, my music seemed to override them. These headphones drastically made my day better.
Rating: Summary: Great deal for the price Review: I'm not sure what people are expecting, but I feel these are a great deal, especially for the price. In noise-cancelling headphones, I'm looking to reduce repetitive ambient sounds (that's REDUCE, not eliminate). These have done a great job not only on my dishwasher, air conditioner, and local traffic, but even reduced other sounds, such as talking, at an unexpected rate. No, these won't make things silent. Their purpose is to reduce noise, which they do, even when not plugged in to anything. They have a slight white-noise hiss when activated, which personally is relaxing, but I can see where others might find it annoying, particularly when listening to music. If you're an audiophile, pass on these. If you'd just like to reduce ambient sounds, these might be good for you.
Rating: Summary: Great Value! Review: I'm very satisfied with the purchase of these headphones. ...You can't go wrong. They are great for college! I live in a quad which is very noisy and was looking for a solution to make my environment a little quieter. These headphones take out a lot of the bass in the background which makes doing homework and studying very peaceful and enables me to be more efficient with my time. I strongly recommend this product.
Rating: Summary: Not worth a penny Review: No noticable reduction in noise. Look for something else
Rating: Summary: REVIEW Review: NOISE CANCELLING FEATURE IS ADEQUATE FOR THE PRICE, HOWEVER I FOUND THE HEAD PHONES TO BE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE ON THE EARS AFTER ONLY A FEW MINUTES OF USE. AN EAR PAD THAT COVERED THE ENTIRE EAR WOULD BE A GREAT IMPROVEMENT
Rating: Summary: Great value Review: Pretty good and comfy for this price. Sound quality can't compare to my expensive Bose QuietComfort, but at 1/10th the price, the Panasonic is an excellent value. If you have been able to live with inexpensive headphones/earphones, this upgrade will make your music-listening life more enjoyable without spending a fortune.
Rating: Summary: Works very well. Review: Some people who reviewed this are unclear on the concept. It is NOT supposed to reduce the sound of people talking around you. It's supposed to reduce low frequency hums. This it does admirably. It nearly completely silenced the din of my kitchen dishwasher. The effect is dramatic. Audio/music quality is quite good. Fred
Rating: Summary: Non-noise-cancelling with all the disadvantages Review: The "noise-cancellation" consist of a slight addition of white noise. The sound quality was decent, but irrelevant, since the whole point is cancellation. I'll just wait until I can afford the BOSE QuietComfort 2
Rating: Summary: uncomfortable and not very effective Review: The main problem is they fit ON the ears instead of over them. First problem is that this makes them tiring and irritating to wear for more than a short time and, second, the lack of an over-ear cuff doesn't let them cut out much ambient noise as plenty still comes thru the configuration of the ear (and I don't have large ears).
Rating: Summary: Somewhat of a disappointment Review: The sound quality in general is fine, but there is an annoying hiss when noise reduction is turned on - louder than I've experienced with other models in the same price range - and as a result, I've ended up never using that feature, despite the fact that it was what I purchased the headphones for. Another serious problem with the noise reduction, at least for me, is that it seems to be very sensitive to RF interference - when I plug the headphones into my laptop and turn on noise reduction, if the laptop is plugged in, I hear a low-pitched hum, and if I put my hand next to the box which houses the battery and the noise reduction electronics, the hum grows much louder. I have a lot of computer equipment around my desk, which might be contributing to the interference, but I've used other brands in similar environments with no problems. I have a co-worker who uses Bose noise-cancelling headphones in the same building; he tried mine on, and said that his were much more effective. I would recommend the Bose headphones to anyone who needs good noise cancellation.
