Rating: Summary: O.K., but not as good as the MX-500 earbuds Review: After reading some of the good press that the PMX-60's received at the time of their release, I decided to try them. A/B-ed against the Sennheiser MX-500 earbuds, the PMX-60's, to me, were a disappointment. In my judgment, the MX-500's better the PMX-60's in just about every category: price, comfort, sound quality, aesthetics. The MX-500's have a much more open, clear and detailed sound--and better bass--than the PMX-60's; in short the MX-500's are much more involving as well as more affordable. I'll continue to do a bit more A/B-ing, but the verdict is already in: Save $10 and buy the MX-500 earbuds instead of the PMX-60's!
Rating: Summary: Great for Sony converts Review: Alright, after a little bit of hassle I finally got these headphones. I really prefer the behind-the-neck headphones for portability, as when riding bikes or doing out having clunky, huge headphones isn't always the most convenient. So, the first thing I noticed when I took these out of their packaging was the amazingly short cord - its tiny! My Sony MDR-G72LPs and MDR-G82s cords were almost twice the length it seemed (realistically not that long, but still, much longer than these headphones - almost too long...). So, looks like I will need to buy a 3ft headphone cord extender... The second thing I noticed is that the plug isn't gold plated - both of the Sonys were, although the MDR-G72LPs was already almost completely worn off. Anyways, I plugged these things in and listened - I was amazed how loud they could go without distortion. I pushed these to my personal maximum and they still weren't distorting... the MDR-G72LPs would distort at these volumes, and the MDR-G82s impedence is a bit higher I believe so my portable players never pushed it to the max, but still, through my computer these things were excellent. With a direct comparison to the MDR-G72LPs (for about the same price), the bass wasn't as heavy but if you utilize a functional bass-boost, these headphones can handle it. The MDR-G72s were a bit heavy in the bass in comparison, but the highs were reproduced horribly compared the the PMX60s, and the bass they did have would easily distort with an increase in volume. Also, about the weight and comfort - these beat out both of the Sonys, by far! The MDR-G72LPs would hurt my ears after about an hour, and the MDR-G82s after shorter (although I would endure the pain as I needed a closed ear design at the time) - these things I have been wearing for an hour now and I can hardly tell they're on, with absolutely no pain! ;) Also, I dont know what this "bass tube" thing is about, as these things seem to have weaker bass by default than the other headphones, but they will handle bass if you feed it to them. All in all, these things are very much worth their cost, and I can't help but recommend these to those looking for street-style headphones that perform well. Now all we need are some street style closed ear Sennheisers... :)
Rating: Summary: Luv'em! :-) Review: Beat to dirt Sony MDR-G52 I used before in all respects but price: crisp, crystal-clear sound; light weight and light, gentle grip on ears; short and soft cord. Also these are LOUD! Technically speaking they are 3 to 4 times louder than Sony, practically - they take all the range of my Philips EXP431 w/o distorting the sound, while Sony's cannot be used at over 6 or 7 out of 10. And did I mention their sound quality? Yes, but it sure is worth mentioning twice and more :-)
Rating: Summary: Light in weight and bass Review: Bought these as a replacement to similar Sony phones, which I found uncomfortable on long runs. They have incredibly clear sound in the mids through highs, great for classical music, though that isn't what one typically listens to while working out. Despite the assurances of other reviewers to the contrary, these headphones do, in fact reproduce bass quite badly and they WILL distort at moderate volumes in the 100-800 Hz range. On an album like Speakerboxxx, the drivers give off a sound like a leafblower instead of thumping with the bass. Sennheiser has clearly sacrificed the potency of the driver to reduce mass. They are very comfortable for this style of phone.
Rating: Summary: Kick sony's butt totally !! Review: First it shocked me that Sennheiser got into the low cost portable market. I had to try them and the sound quality is absolutely mazing, overwhelmingly superior thant the Sony's that cost twice as much. These bozos who talk abouot the "weak" bass compared to the Sony are hilarious. What they are used to hearing is not the music but DISTORTION. Let me repeat that, the Sony ones are cheap sound and DISTORTED. I would recommend [$] headphones for them to enjoy their distortion. I thought Koss (who totally kick Sony's ... in the portable headphone market), made the best portable/sports headphones, but the Sennheiser takes the lead at a great price. If you want unbelievably clean, non-distored music, get this. Also, because of the lack of distortion, these sill people were playing them very LOUD, which is why people heard them.
Rating: Summary: I can't believe what I'm hearing Review: For $25 you really can't go wrong here. I just got my pair earlier today and I couldn't be more happy. These headphones are really, really light and comfortable. The sound is unbelievably good. The cord is a little short as others have said, but I'm using these headphones with a new 40GB iPod, so they're fine for what I need 'em for.
People can definitely hear your music if it's loud enough and your location is quiet enough. In a louder environment you'd be fine, but if you want these headphones for use at the gym or something like that then you may be in a bit of a quandry.
All in all, this product is excellent and unbelievable for the price. If you're looking for affordable headphones to use in conjuction with a portable music source I doubt you'd find a better pair than these.
Rating: Summary: Amazing sound... Review: Great sounding headset with hardly any wieght to them. The earbuds hurt my ears and did not stay in when excercising. I am no audiophile, but this headset sounds amazing... Well worth the money IMO.
Rating: Summary: The usual Sennheiser quality Review: I am a HUGE Sennheiser fan and own three different sets of headphones. These are fantastic for the price. They sound better and are more comfortable than the comparable Sonys.
I'll add to what others said:
The cord IS too short. Unless the device you're listening to is on your body or right in front of you, it's too short. Another 12" would have been nice.
You have to crank the music pretty loud for others around you to hear it. I'd say it's not a problem in most environments except where you're trying to overwhelm outside noise.
Rating: Summary: rubish, rubish, rubish Review: I bought these headphones a few weeks ago and after no time at all the foam was ripping around the seal and the right phone was buzzing and distorting. Before this happened the headphones sounded harsh and there was hardly any base. These headphones are by far the worse puchase i have ever made and i recomend you do not buy them.
Rating: Summary: Great sound.. for others as well Review: I bought these headphones after being totally dis-satisfied with the Sennheiser MX300 earbuds. These are very uncomfortable and sound too bright in my opinion. I went out and bought the Sennheiser PMX60's. These were perfect as I cycle and need something that doesn't go on the top of the head. As sound quailty goes, these things are amazing! Beautiful, strong bass and crisp highs. The volume even goes very high compared to other headphones. Well done Sennheiser! The reason why I am returning these, is because although they are one of the best sounding headphones I have ever heard, they leak WAY too much sound. Anyone in the same room can here the music that I'm playing quite well. Every word is audible to the outside listener. For me this makes then very unattractive. I'm sad to part with these as they sound so good, but I need something a bit quiter to the public.
