Summary: Pretty but un-usable!
Review: After 2 days of this, I am returning it.

What I liked:

- Nice 3D nav screen

- the use of AAA batteries and long continuous use.

- fast re-routing.

What didn't work:

- map info was INACCURATE for even the metro Boston area!!! The first locations i tried, my home, work, and friend's house, it was off by blocks, and even no info on the street at all! There is no way for user to edit and correct the map data!

- You cannot set your own route by selecting way points like a Garmin. You are left to the mercy of the software's choice and you can't plan multi-stop trips either.

- You cannot adjust the speed assumptions of classes or road. it keeps wanting me to go out of way to a "highway" when it would have been a straight shot to work via local street. And you can't do anything about it!

- Bluetooth drops out every few minutes even just 2 feet from my iPaq 2210. Annoying at best. Really not usable. And this 4410 had supposedly one of the better bluetooth signal strength!

Summary: Was This Really Supposed To Work?
Review: Great Paperweight!!!!
That's About it
I Gave it one star for the packaging. Comes With A Nice Assortment Of Mounting Goodies, Which Is Great IF This Friggen Thing Would Work.
The Bluetooth Lost Its Connectivity At 1 Minute 36 Seconds everytime. I could never get a lock on my position.
Good Luck With Yours

Summary: Works as advertised
Review: I am happy with the unit. It worked with my iPAQ 5455 after about 20 mins of configuration. I had a little trouble setting the Bluetooth COM port on my iPAQ, but after that it worked and continues to work great. I also bought a window mount for my iPAQ so that all I have to do now is slip the iPAQ in the car, turn on the GPS RX and start the program. With my common destinations already loaded and my "avoid" area's programmed it works very well. I do wish I could program way points though. I am currently looking for a copy of the Western European maps as I'm travelling there soon.

Summary: bad product, bad service
Review: The SmartSt v2 that comes with the 4100 has good interface and design, but it LOCKS UP A LOT(the lockup frequency is worse than win3.1 10 years ago!) !!! and the routing is definitely horrible. I do'nt see how following its route would be the "quickest" way.. also, entering address is very bad.. it won't look up street name such as "s. el camino", or "n. chessnut street".

also, i sent them email regarding bluetooth problem. Here's the question and "solution":

***********question:

I have:
gps4410 bluetooth

smartst ver 2.00.0036 SP2 (latest)

Dell Axim x30 624Mhz w/ bluetooth

the following steps works the 1st time after installation, but lock up the
second time starting SmartST. What will lock up the axim:

1)on the axim, connect bluetooth device ''Navman gps one''. successful

2)start SmartST v2, finished loading maps

3)agreement page. click ''I agree''. AXIM LOCKS UP. Have to reset the ppc.

the reason i mentioned ''2nd time will lock up'', it's because SmartST
specify using GPS the first time. So the second time starting SmartST,
bluetooth will lock up SmartST.

I have to do the following to avoid this problem. Which is VERY VER
cumblesome using Navman products

1)Disable bluetooth

2)load SmartST v2, maps

3)got into the main screen(map) of smartst

4)switch out of smarST, enable bluetooth, connect to ''navman gps'' device

5)switch back into SmartST. Go to ''menu'' and enable GPS.

6)THEN gps will work for smartST.

this is too much steps. I installed the latest service pack, and it can
not fix the lockup problem. Tried menu time. Hard reset AXIM, resinstall
the SmartST software, still the same problem.

I am returning Navman and going for TOMTOM soon, unless i find a way to
avoid lock up.

*****"solution":

Sorry for the problems ... apparent issue with the bluetooth for the Axim. Product exchange may be the best course. Our regrets. Regards, NAVMAN

Summary: Tricky set up but works fine for me
Review: This is a great little addition to your pocket PC. I am a college student and can't afford a real GPS for my car (not that my car deserves anything new!) and this has been awesome. It is small enough to go everywhere with me. It runs for a longtime before changing batteries. One of the best features is how fast it will re-route you if you get off your route. I feel a lot safer driving my old clunker around in unfamiliar territory! You can't beat it for the price!
