Rating: Summary: Slim, Classy, Durable Review: A good quality product. Padded inside. Very slim and classy. Slips in and out of a pocket easily--doesn't bind like leather. Closes securely and opens easily. A few minor sharp edges that I will sand off with 220 grit paper. My wife has the Palm Plastic/Aluminum case--it is cheap looking compared to this and not nearly as protective in my opinion. I know I will be hard on this product and wanted to get the best protection I could find. I think I have found just that.
Rating: Summary: Good, attractive case Review: Don't doubt the ability of this case to protect your Palm (despite another review you'll see here). I had my RhinoSkin Hardcase-protected Palm Vx in my back pocket last night. I had to jump off a retaining wall to a concrete sidewalk, and misjudged the height. I took a roll upon landing, and of course rolled right over my Palm. I'm 6'7" and weigh 265 pounds. Results: the case was bent a little, but the Palm Vx survived unscathed. My case has more than paid for itself!
Rating: Summary: AS GOOD AS IT GETS Review: I bought the rhino skin aluminium molded hardcase about 2 months ago, Ladies and Gentlemen THIS IS THE ONE you have been looking for, padded inside, light, and very hard, (if this one is hard enough, imagine the one made of titanium) smooth and very cool looking surface (everyone has to do with it), the rail that holds the Palm V keeps it in the center of the case, creating small spaces inside in order to avoid the palm to crash against the sides of it. The finish of the surface, most of the time, remains clean, so, you cant see spots, unless you throw it inside a dirty trash can, haha! (it does not mean you will never have to use a soft cloth with a little of window cleaner - like rhino recomends- to clean it) and most of all if you want it to stay as nice looking as the first time you saw it, TRY NOT to carry your rhino in the same pocket along with coins, keys, etc. Another PRO for this case, is the fact that you can put it in your back pocket pants and sit on it and even not noticing it is there. Im a College student so, most of the time Im in a rush and I needed a case which could resist the tough treatments my palm had, so I found it, if you want your Palm V or Vx to be protected this one is the right for you. I dont use the stylus that came with the palm, I replaced it with the very little but easy to use and much better than the one from TTools, the "Cross" stylus/pen is very stylish, very good mechanism that remains like new a whole life, you can put in the silo like the original stylus that came with your palm (you can find it at styluscentral.com , and the best of all is the price) I was affraid to buy it and not to use it because of the tip of the stylus, (the one you use to pull it out the silo) might be too big for the rhino case, so it would not close normaly, I fixed the problem and I will tell you how! first take a sandpaper not too rough and use it on the tip I told you before (BE CAREFULL NOT TO USE IT ON THE TIP YOU WILL USE TO WRITE ON YOUR PALM, WHICH IS VERY CLOSE TO IT) use the sandpaper vertically until you get the exact shape that will not interrupt the closing mechanism of the case. During this process be carefull not to scratch other parts of the pen. If you decide to buy this usefull stylus/pen in order to use it on the rhino aluminium case these instructions will help you a lot, but in case you dont want to make all this and have another place to carry a stylus I still recomend you to buy it anyway. The ink replaces are cheap too. I dont believe all the publicity and the magic products I see, so, as a researching costumer, I only buy the product if I believe it is worth the price and most of all the quality. So I took the time to write this in order to help you out in finding the best products for your palm. I really hope it helps. Thank you for reading.
Rating: Summary: Good, attractive case Review: I constantly receive compliments on the aesthetics of this case -- I haven't dropped it, so I'm not sure if the protection is great or not -- I assume, however, that it is; it looks and feels to be of high quality.
Rating: Summary: REAL, 100% aluminum, not aluminum-clad plastic like Palm's Review: I like to carry my PalmV in my back pocket since I'm not always wearing a shirt with a pocket (besides, if you bend over to pick something up and forget you have your Palm...*crash*). I'm a big guy with a tendency to "flop down" hard on my car sear, couch, desk chair, etc. No other Palm cases other than Rhino's could possibly stand up to this abuse. I actually bent the hinge alignment once (which wasn't too hard to fix), but this case is very durable. The fit on my case was good (the edges aligned well), but I have the same complaint as other users about sharp edges. I quickly fixed this with some 600 diamond grit sandpaper, though (easy to find at Home Depot) -- no problems now. An excellent product with great design: the "ribs" across the front and back of the case add a lot of strength to the case. When you consider that it's a hundred bucks to get a broken screen fixed, this case is good insurance.
Rating: Summary: really really worth the money Review: I've had this case for 3 months now, and it's definatly worth the money in my opinion for the following reasons: 1. TOUGH - it can handle some good falls despite the lack of inside padding. What I like most is that I put mine in my back pocket and carry it around all day (even sitting down on it). 2. LOOKS COOL - Everyone comments on it! 3. TINY - it barely increases the size of you Palm 4. NOT PLASTIC - the 3COM hard case is plastic (i.e dont sit on it) It does need improvement in the following areas: 1. scratches easily 2. rough edges may cut your fingers if not careful 3. tough to take out stylus without lifting palm up a bit 4. could use a little thicker padding inside
Rating: Summary: Faint Praise Review: The pros: it is lightweight, effective protection. The cons: its sharp aluminum edges and crude clasp are uncomfortable to the touch and can scratch your PDA. And in my opinion it's rather clunky and not attractive in comparison to the Palm Hardcase.
Rating: Summary: Real Protection, Good Price Review: This is by far the best protection on the market for your palm. It is very lite, very strong, and looks sleek. I have had mine for over six months now and am very glad I bought it. I carry my palm in my back pocket regularly and have never had a problem. The clasp could have been engineered a little better but it works well.
Rating: Summary: fabulous Review: Well, it sure does look cool but the latch scratched the stylus of my Palm Vx as I was opening the case for the first time. In addition, getting the stylus out once the Palm is in place is awkward and frankly, I don't want to deal with it on a daily basis. Putting a little slot for the stylus on the outside would have made more sense. There's a very thin layer of foam inside but I'm quite skeptical of this case's ability to protect from falls or impact. In short, poor ergonomics, cool look. I'm returning mine.
