Hewlett Packard Jornada 520 and 540 series cover - french beige (brushed silver)

Summary: Functionality is nice but fit is so-so
Review: As a cover for the delicate and pricey color screen on a Jornada 525 it is fabulous. The holder for the spare stylus is a great idea and actually adds structural rigidty to the cover when the stylus is stored. My problem with this cover is that it doesn't flip up and lock nicely into place. The hinges spread apart and want to force the cover closed. Variety of colors is a nice idea with everyone wanting to express themselves these days and the colors are not repulsive. Overall I think HP could have designed it better but it works OK.

Review: I was ready to return this item because the cover would not stay up when I opened it. This made the Jornada worthless when it had the cover on. I decided to try it one last time, before I put the item back into the box to return it, and I noticed that if I pressed the connections between the Jornada and the cover when the cover was opened it locked into the open position. After a number of manuals locks the cover settled (I guess) into the connection slots and would lock open when I flipped the cover up.

Review: I'm still trying to figure out if there is a 520 cover!
I ordered this one for pick-up at Circuit City, and (after 40 minutes of them trying to find the order) wound up with one that stated it was for the 540, NOT 520.
We did try it on a 520 in store, but the fit was very poor: cover did not open all the way, hinges did not stay in slots causing cover to fall off.
So either this is a very poor design, or this one is being marketed & sold for an item it was not intended for.
I just hope there is a cover available, somewhere............

Review: The cover works great once you figure out how to get it in place. The instructions are useless, but, fortunately a little common sense leads you to remove the rubber pieces that cover the hinge slots. The cover then snaps into place easily. While the cover is open, if you squeeze the hinges, the cover snaps fully into place allowing the cover to stay open until you close it. Color of cover is classy and coordinates nicely with the Jornada's colors.
