Rating: Summary: Cheap protection for your $300 investment! Review: This and a good protective case are the two best pieces of insurance that you can buy for your $300 investment! I use my Zire 71 many, many, many times times a day - for scheduling, contact information, errand and shopping lists, news (via AvantGo.com), games, and of course, the camera! I seldom leave the house without it, and even at home my Zire 71 is usually within my arm's reach. I would rate this as an essential piece of equipment for any PDA if you use yours frequently and/or intend to keep it for more than a year. Admittedly, applying the new screen overlay requires PATIENCE. I've been using Fellowes PDA screen overlays for several years, and I find that I still have to re-adjust a new overlay several times to get it bubble-free and lined up straight on the screen. Even with all of the adjustments, it only takes about 5 minutes to put on. But I find that despite my frequent daily use, that I only need to replace the screen overlay once every 6-8 weeks (I have a light touch - you may need to change your screen overlay more frequently if you are "heavy handed" with your stylus!). This is a really good (and relatively cheap!) way to keep your PDA looking and feeling new. Before upgrading to the Zire 71, I had a Palm 3C and I used the Fellowes screen overlays on mine religiously, and they did a magnificent job of keeping my screen looking new for 2 years. Meanwhile, my husband - who bought his Palm 3C at the same time as I did, and was a less frequent user (i.e. he used his mostly for the address book and game functions) - opted NOT to use the Fellowes screen overlays. Within a few months his Palm 3C's screen was showing scratches and was becoming hard to read when the light was reflecting in the scratched areas. Bottom line, I would strongly recommend that anyone who is a serious PDA user invest a few bucks in protecting their screens with these overlays.
Rating: Summary: These things are terrible! Review: This is one of the worst products I have ever purchased! I was hesitant to spend almost $20 for what amounts to 12 pieces of plastic, but I thought it might be good insurance for my $300 PDA. It is pretty much impossible to peel them from their backing without getting finger prints on the sticky side. I tried using tweezers and this damages the plastic. Once I got it partially peeled back, they are so sticky, it is almost impossible to get it on straight. Then there were so many air bubbles, I couldn't get a fraction of them out. The plastic was damaged by my efforts. I'm hoping that I didn't hurt the PDA display. There has to be a better alternative!
