Rating: Summary: Not available, but not a necessity Review: A lot of the posts about the IPaq lament the inoperability of the standard USB connector with NT. Rather than let what's an otherwise outstanding product get undeserved trashing I thought I'd explain a few things.Windows 2000 DOES support USB, I use it with my laptop and Ipaq every day. Works great. If you have to use NT4 on a laptop, you don't get USB, but you DO have support for infrared data transfer. You don't need to buy anything additional, and most laptops have it built in. I sync this way while traveling, works great and nothing else to carry. For desktops and NT, you COULD buy a serial port connected infrared transmitter/reciever and accomplish the same thing, but most wouldn't want to. Preferring to wait for the serial cradle. So it's not a total loss, but it is regretable that Compaq can't keep up with demand.

Rating: Summary: IPAQ Bummer for NT Users Review: After waiting for ever to finally get my IPAQ 3630, I opened it hoping to get started synching up to my Outlook at work (where we have NT and NT doesn't support USB). It comes only with a USB cradle and the Serial version isn't even shipping from Compaq yet. Compaq's "service" department says they have turned all accessories over to retailers and to check with them. No Help From Compaq At ALL! They didn't even tell me they weren't being shipped yet. I had to get that info from one of the internet vendors... Seems like someone at Compaq would have seen this problem coming. NT doesn't support USB. HELLO!!!!
Rating: Summary: Help for NT users Review: heres is what I am currently doing to get by until serial cables come out... On your NT computer - click import/export, select export to a file (select *.PST type) and then select what you want to transfer (check all subfolders) click next and save the file, and then transfer the file somehow (I use the internet) to your home PC and then Import that file into your Outlook 2000 at home. then sync and presto you have your information. It sucks to have to do that but until the serial cradles arrive plus beware if you do all the files in outlook (calendar/inbox )ect. the file could get huge 3 to 4 megs

Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Review: I finally received my iPaq 3650 today, whopee! However I realised that it is almost totally useless as I run WinNT and USB is not supported! So now I have to order and wait another six-eight weeks for the serial cradle. What a load of howee!
Rating: Summary: iPAQ NT4.0 workaround Review: I have iPAQ and Windows NT 4 at work and the workaround is to email to my home Windows 98 machine (that supports the iPAQ USB connection) items I wish to download - It works fantastic until I get my hands on a serial connection. I downloaded all my contact information directly via infrared from old Casio Windows CE device - if you have Palm (or PocketPC) get PEACEMAKER software to communication with CE (or Palm) devices.
Rating: Summary: WAIT WAIT WAIT Review: I too have had problems with my ipaq! I have a toshiba 330CDS laptop, and i cant use the usb cradle, i thought usb was universal? When i called COMPAQ, guess what? They told me that my usb was not compatable with the piaq. I will need to wait to BUY a Serial cradle. Shelling out 500+bucks for a unit that Compaq will support the users. I am a bit peeved at the shortage from Compaq, hello guys its time to pull our heads out!!!

Rating: Summary: Serial Cradle Review: I used this product for 13 days and returned it to Staples before their usual 14 day return policy expired. This is a great product, however, since I have a Windows NT machine, it is useless. (Windows NT can't use USB and I could not find a serial cradle anywhere.) I also wasn't thrilled with the size of the IPAQ. It is twice as thick as the Palm V. Way too big to put comfortably in my jeans pocket. Furthermore, it needs a cover to protect the screen. The Palm V leather case is the best example of how Compaq should design their unit/case.
