Summary: Philips products good, but service terrible
Review: I have had a Nino 320 for almost a year and it is a wonderful machine, I bought a 510 last week and loved it too, but the 320 started to randomly reboot right after I got the 510. It took Philips 3 days to get me an RMA # with me calling them twice a day. I overnighted it to them and they took 2 more days before they started to look at it, 3 days later, they still have it. All the while their customer service people give wildly contradictory stories about the repair process and its time frame. It seems that they are in a contest to dupe the most customers. I sent the 510 back. To compare, I had an HP Jornada with a software glitch, got an RMA from HP on the first call, sent it to them overnight that day. They fixed it the next day and overnighted it back. Philips has the absolute worst customer service department I have ever dealt with. Buyer beware!

Review: I know they recently discontinued the manufacture of these but I still think it's the best PDA for the price. Battery life is great, screen is great (avoid outdoors with most of these except the Compaq Aero). Made the jump from paper organizer to electronic and I'll never go back! I spent about 3 weeks researching the right model to buy though and this thing was it. The first one I Purchased had a defective cradle so I returned it to the store rather than worry about Philips support. The second one has been hummming along great for over a month now. I think Caligrapher is overrated - I've since switched back to jot for the most part for accuracy reasons.

Summary: Excellent value for price and features.
Review: I love the Nino 510; with its WindowsCE platform, it is a breeze for PC users who regularly use Windows. The Calligrapher program is very useful for quick notes, as is the Voicerecorder. E-mail is a breeze. However, it would be good if Philips provided a printed copy of the users manual, (together with the CD-ROM, it comes on). This would make referring to the manual so much easier.

I will keep the Nino 510, and recommend it highly to anyone looking at PDA's, Palms or otherwise.

Summary: Read this before you buy and suffer.
Review: I purchased the Nino 510 a week ago, I was happy with the design and the good collection of software, but I had a time from hell trying to connect it to my Toshiba laptop, and as would you expect...the customer support kept telling me that the problem is with the IRQ's of my laptop, and to make the story short I wasted a lot of time and apparently I didn't do a good research before buying the nino.

Summary: A must for power users
Review: I understand that the Windows CE platform in general and the Nino in specific is not for everyone, but if you need functionality, look NO further. Look and feel aside the wealth of software that came with my Nino 510 is what sold me. NO other PDA that I found comes with the Caligrapher handwriting recognition on it, and if you are saying so what? You must try this software. All the other apps in the bundle are great as well. All in all an excellent value for money

Summary: BUYER BEWARE!
Review: Instead of the Palm V that I was hoping to receive for my birthday, I got this little tornado, which has turned into an electronic pain in the rear! I could not get it to synchronize with my desktop so I called the support number on the web site - this was apparantly in a new area code and my phone exchange did not recognize it - so I went through their online support - which emailed me back everytime saying that I should call the support number for technical assistance. When I explained why I could not call, requesting a call or email from them, I got a response back saying that I should call support (might as well take the feature off the web site). When I finally got through and heard the voice of an 'engineer', I was told that it was the COM port on my machine or another time, I was told it was my OS. So I installed the software and tested this on 4 different machines (a Dell, a Compaq, a Toshiba and a Sony Laptop) with different OS's (Win95, Win98, NT Workstation and even NT server in standalone mode). Due to this whole process, I lost valuable time and was hence unable to return the product. So now, I'm looking for a Palm V and using the Nino for a door stop. How's that for a beware!?!?!?!

Summary: The Handheld PC to buy!
Review: This is the best handheld pc out there. For a mere $ you can do anything that you can on a more expensive brand. It comes with 16 megs of memory, and a touch color screen. For another brand, you would have to spend at least $ more. Philips also uses many programs that are not on the other handhelds, such as the caligrapher, or voice recognition. Yes, I've tried many of these things on a desktop computer, and none of them worked, but on the Nino, they all seem to magically work! The only problem is that if you have terrible writing, the calligrapher is not for you. The only downside to this is that you cannot get email through a wireless network, but for about $ you can buy a modem and access your ISP from any phone line, as long as it's not aol, a basic ISP that you can use microsoft outlook with. Using this handheld pc is so easy that even if you can't handle a desktop pc, you will be able to easily learn how-to on this contraption. Any bad stories about this product are not actually about this product, they are about people who cannot use a handheld pc properly... basically they would have the same problems with any handheld pc. I hope you enjoy your Nino, I sure am! If you have any questions about this product, or about this post, feel free to email me, my address is listed above!

Summary: Good features, great price
Review: This little guy is worth twice the price. The bundled software is great (calligrapher can decipher even my chicken scratch), the sound record and playback capability is a huge plus, and I had no trouble installing it for use on both of my work PCs. The only remaining litmus test is getting it to work with my Mac at home (via VirtualPC), but I won't be heartbroken if I can't swing it. This is a great little machine, it's cut out my need for the morning newspaper, provides me with a huge city map when I'm lost, helps me track my finances, and even lets me use the WWW with better functionality than just about any other palmtop PC I've seen.

It's definitely worthwhile.
