Summary: Excellent Hardware.......software leaves a lot to be desired
Review: I bought this intending to replace my Palm V organizer and save me from buying a mp3 player. Sadly, I am returning it to Amazon.com (whose return policy is GREAT by the way).

I am going to make my statements in categories, so that everyone can follow them more easily:

1. Hardware: Excellent design and button layout; scrolling wheel was well placed and very useful. I liked that the power and menu buttons fall right under my thumb, it allowed for a very natural feel and easy operation. Screen is VERY vibrant and pictures look great on it. The touchscreen aspect is very responsive and one can even imagine a tactile click when you tap it.

2. Size. A little clunky as far as demensions, but its hardware features make up for that. one thing that makes it larger is the ability to swap out the li-ion battery (you can get an external charger and spare battery from Casio), so the unit is larger to allow for this ability.

3. Speed. The unit itself includes a 150MHz processor, so it is definately FAST. The Syncronization, on the other hand, seemed to be very slow - even with the USB cradle. It took 20 minutes to load ONE four minute mp3 if you are going to do a lot of mp3 stuff, get a CF card reader and an additional card to transfer them with!

4. Now my major complaint and the thing that was enough to make me NOT keep this device. The software. It was fast, but near-impossible to close running programs. It came with bTask, but it is an annoying little window that floats around on the screen. The Casio menu screen is abnoxious compared to just using the Start menu. The ActiveSync 3.1 software that came with the unit kept "loosing" my device and not being able to find it again until I re-started my computer.

If the software were better it would get 5 stars and I'd be keeping it. But I just can't get past how difficult the software is. It is very powerful, but I like the useability of my Palm V more than I like the "coolness" and difficulty of the E-125.

Summary: The return of the 'peia
Review: After an incredibly good (but rather short) relationship with the CASSIOPEIA E-100 (you could read my review about it), I bought another CASIO PDA. Why? Well, I found out that, although the size, they're quite nifty and reliable.
When I finally got it, being used to the E-100, I had some problems with the E-125, like with the JotReader (Too many lines, too complex or easy to use), the MENU program (Funky colours anyone?) the Taskbar in the upper part of the screen, and most of all, no background image in the Today screen.
But, the positive side is that there are tons of more software for this, solving most of the problems mentioned before (thanks to NOVOSEC for the excelent FACELIFT program), plus the included aplications from Microsoft that make the transfer between the desktop and the PDA easier.
It's good speed make it a competitive PDA even today, and I could add that its easier to use than many of the ones that are in the market today, but as the technological advance is an exponential function, many of the software developers have stopped making programs for it, or even dissappeared, so sometimes is kind of difficult getting the program that you read in the web that's top-notch (in pages that date 2002).
With all this said, I still think that buying this PDA, for novice users or experienced ones, is a great thing.

Summary: works great. cheap. too large
Review: Of course I could pay more money and get one that is smaller but this thing has served me very well for 4 years now.

Summary: This little unit Rocks
Review: Can't believe how they can get so much in so little space. I bought the 128mb storage card and in the WMA format, loaded over 100 of my favorite songs. Plugged into my outdated tape player in my car, through the headphone jack of the Cassiopeia and a casette adapter, this thing just rocks. It's much more than just an organizer, but I use it to know exactly where I've been and what I've done as far as work and billing my hours for payment. Battery life is phenomenal and recharging is a snap in the USB cradle, as well as downloading or uploading info to my desktop.

Summary: Great for what it is - an alternative to the Palm
Review: This PDA is what I personally was looking for, but it's not for everyone. Here's why I chose it:

- It's not tiny. Unlike most people, I really didn't want something I could slip in my pocket and barely notice it was there - because for me, that is a recipe for a lost PDA. Plus, when I tried out the Palms and Sony PDAs they were not very sturdy to hold by comparison.
- It's Windows-driven. Again, a personal choice. I wanted something with a minimal learning curve, and being PC proficient this was the best choice.
- It's got a nice, big, color screen. I certainly paid extra for this feature, and I'm glad I did, as I didn't want to squint at the screen at all to tell what I was looking at.
- It has a huge memory. I was able to load entire MS Word and Excel files from work and then hot-sink them to my home PC when I had to bring work home with me.
- The support online and on the phone was excellent. I'm a novice with this kind of technology, but never felt like I was asking a 'dumb' question when I had a problem.

Granted, I only use a fraction of the features this item has, so I can't speak to some of the more fancy features like the wireless email. Plus, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend that wherever you buy your PDA, online or in a store, you go in person to a store to try out the different models. Without doing this I probably would have just bought a Palm - a great choice for some, but not for me - and because I made the effort to go and shop around in person I made a good choice for my needs and quirks.

A couple of caveats:
- Get a decent carrying case other than what they provide, it's pretty flimsy.
- Get an extra back-up battery! They do run out, and quicker than you think.
- It doesn't come with an extra hot-sink cradle and for the price, it really should. You'll need it if you are using it both at work and home.
