Rating: Summary: Holding a computer in the palm of your hand Review: I purchased my Toshiba e310 and the Casio be300 approximately a month ago. The delivery services of Amazon.com were exemplary. The machines arrived one day prior to the designated delivery date, in perfect condition, and have delivered the level of service advertised by their manufacturers and Amazon.com. Not having a prior history of internet purchasing of items in excess of $10.00, this was a very pleasant experience. I am using the Toshiba for personal and business purposes. I have downloaded several programs and ebooks from the internet to enhance the programming bundled on the machines at the factory, stored several of my powerpoint training presentations (planning to replace my laptop projection presentation in 2003) and a repertoire of eclectic musical selections on the ScanDisk SD storage card, and discovered that, despite the negative articles I have read, the Toshiba handles the ScanDisk SD storage cards very well. Additionally, Toshiba provided a CD that contained additional programs and a host of (no additional cost) electronic books (for your reading pleasure). The Casio is being used by my son (a college freshman). He indicates that he is very pleased with its capabilities and performance. After extensive researching to determine the appropriate PDA and operating system, I am very happy that I finally selected the Toshiba and the Casio. I heartily recommend the small, but powerful, system to those interested in the superior (and reasonably priced) business, personal, and entertainment capabilities.
Rating: Summary: Bang for the Buck! Review: I used to use a Palm IIIxe. I *used to* strain to read tiny type on a screen that had little contrast. I *used to* wish I could write on the thing without dealing with GRAFFITI. Now, I look at a bright, vibrant screen. I write on the screen like I would write on paper and watch the e310 suck in my text *fairly reliably,* unless I revert to my sloppy-handwriting self. Sure beats dealing with one letter-at-a-time graffiti. Now I can record voice notes, playback music, and use the thing almost constantly. My Palm had been sitting for a while and only used when I went traveling. I bought the 64-MB SD card to boost the memory, but have yet to put it in. In fact, I have yet to use more than half of the installed RAM. This little puppy is one of the best gadgets I've evr used. Everyone around me is still plinking through their Palm screens, and I don't envy them one bit. The two or three Palm owners that looked at it have said they would have bought the same thing if it were out back then.
Rating: Summary: Terrible Battery Life, No Memory Keeping! Review: I have battled with the e310 for too long. The memory keeping time seems to be a few hours rather than as promised in the pack. If I dont keep it on charge at all times, I loose all info in the main memory - only documents saved in the memory card are kept. Yes it looks sexy, yes it has some nice features and a nice screen but it is of no use to me whatever. I bought my e310 in the USA, I am now back living in the UK. Toshiba UK have been no help whatsoever. I used to have an HP Jornada 510 - a much more basic PDA, but at least it had back-up batteries to avoid loosing all of your information.
Rating: Summary: happy customer! Review: My first pocketpc. Just didn't feel right using a palmpilot with a different format than what I am used to(windows). After agonizing for months, decided to buy the e310.Just got it late last week. Lightweight, bright screen, sensitive touch screen and features like trancsriber, recorder, media player etc have prevented me from putting it down since.
Rating: Summary: No. 1 For The Money Review: I did massive research before diving into the pda lifestyle. Made at least a dozen trips to different electronics stores to play with the units. I was torn between the high dollar top dogs (Ipaq) and the other units I knew would do the job for a LOT less money. My sensible side won out and I couldn't be happier. The e310 does it all, does it fast, and does it well. Sure, you could get a few more features from other units - For a LOT more money but this dog hunts. Great display, good feel, expandable, sensible, logical. All that and a bag of chips. If you have to have an awesome display, spend twice the money. If you want to get the job done (Well) with an absolutely fine display, go e310. I have not had any of the "turn on recorder" problems described by others - Probably because I read the reviews and was watching out for it. My only minor complaints are the sd expansion - It's not quite as easy to find as other formats and a bit more expensive - The display front lighting is a bit heavy on the screen bottom and light on the top. By the way, the e740 packs more horsepower and features, (Still a lot less than an Ipaq) but it feels a bit bulky in the hand - Like an Ipaq.
Rating: Summary: Awesome - The Best Pocket PC - The Best Price Ever Review: I have recently purchased both IPAQ and HP Jornada Pocket PC's and have had to return them for one problem or another. The Toshiba E-310 is the best one I have yet to see and use!! After intitially setting it up I placed it in the cradle and began Active Sync with no problem whatsoever. I had numerous problems with the others (IPAQ and HP Jornada). What is cool is that you can download movies and watch them on your pocket PC. I purchased a SD card to store the movies on and it works great. If you need a Pocket PC without wireless bluetooth, get this one. You will absolutely love it. Trust me.
Rating: Summary: Great PDA for the Average User Review: I am not a power PDA user. I use my PDA mostly for calendar, tasks, contacts, occasional light game, storing other important data and syncing information between home and work. I owned an IPAQ 3150 prior. I love the lightweight and size of the Toshiba. For being an average user, the memory, screen size and speed of the unit is very satisfactory. The price on Amazon after rebates was incredible and worth every penny. My only con is minor one. I like the way the stylus popped in an out on the IPAQ. This is a great PDA for the average user. Highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Great product - well designed, compact and lightweight Review: Love this unit! It has a bright colorful display, gets great battery life, is lightweight and compact; easily fitting into a shirt pocket. If light and compact is important, this is the best Pocket PC device out there and rivals the Palm devices in size and weight.
Rating: Summary: Great PDA... Review: I recently purchased this PDA. I loved it from the start. Its fast, can play games great and is sleak as well as light. The price was right and the specs were too. My only problem with this unit is that after two days of use it broke. I was viewing an avi and it locked, after that it wouldn't get past the boot screen. I now have to send the unit back to be fixed. This is not something you want to deal with after two days of use. Although their support is great, their products should be more reliable.
Rating: Summary: Excellent product Review: This is the best PDA there is. It is fast, has great display and so portable that you will use it at all times. You could even use the display to find your seat in a dark theater! I use it at home and at work, where I keep all my contacts, work spreadsheets, etc. If you are the reading type (as I am) you will be glad to see that it comes with many eBooks, so you can read again The Time Machine, Call of the Wild, etc. And if you want to be totally blown just install the program to control your tv with it: you can replace ALL your remotes at home with this little thing. And don't forget this thing works as an excellent - high sound quality MP3 player. Buy it - you will not regret it.
