Summary: Star Trek is finally here!
Review: I got my iPaq 3635 a few days ago and is already an essential tool for my personal and business activities. It has the extreme high quality that you expect for the price and almost unlimited functionality. My old Palm III makes a nice paper weight but I am planning to "lose it" in the airport to feed missinformation to my competitors. Seriously, despite any feeling you may have about Microsoft, the flawless compatability with the de-facto standard MS Office and the expansion capabilities makes Windows CE a no brainer that was just waiting for the right platform. I like the ability to have a very light machine to carry around and being able to leave behind my modem or backup memory when I do not need it. The display is awsome and coud be used as a flashlight if needed. How they did that and at the same time being able to get a full day of work from its rechargable battery? ...I do not know (maybe Scotty or Jordy from either of the Enterprise time travelled). I did not feel so excited about a gadget since I got my HP-65 in 1975!!!

Review: I only started to use my new IPAQ and it's already merged to my life already. It works pretty well as a MP3 player. The voice recorder works pretty well in recording lectures in my classes. However, taking note with the IPAQ is a pain, with its limited sized screen and difficulty in erasing or editing parts of the handwritten note. The other thing need to be awared of is that IPAQ need to be cleaned with care. If you clean the screen too hard you will get dusts in the screen and it would require you to send the unit to the Compaq service center to have them clean it for you. But it is all free. If you ordered the carepaq warranty service($49 per year, $99 for 3 years). You will receive a brand new unit shipped to you overnight if you ever need to have your IPAQ serviced.

Summary: Very....VEEERRRY Cool
Review: For once in my life, I decided to research this purchase. After many weeks, and late nights, looking dry-eyed at online reviews ...the iPAQ 3635 came up as an expensive (and not yet available) option amidst the jungle of other options. Without alot of info, and growing tired of the search, I pressed the Amazon button...despite the "not in stock" banner. Long story short, it arrived the next week, and this machine is nothing less than awesome. Reference all other reviews on this page for all the technical technicolor, but I think this is simply the best machine on the market right now.. (When the IT group at my company found out it had arrived, they were all at my doorstep the next morning to assist in the setup. We played and giggled like a bunch of kids....This little "heat seaker" will bring it out in you.)

Summary: Very Nice
Review: This is probably the best handheld you are going to be able to buy today. I had some real problems with my Jornada, and my nephew complains alot about his casio and how he wants a new pda. I honeslty have to say, this is an incredible handheld. If you are deciding what pda to buy and need more info, go to compaq.com and take a look at their visual tour of their new ipaq. The only complaint I have is that if your going to save up and buy something this expensive and nice, just remember that it will be replaced by newer, fast, and more powerful models. Overall, this is the number one handheld to own today.

Summary: One lean, mean, computing machine
Review: I just can't say enough about what this thing can do. I know the word intuitive is overused but it is appropriate here. I was using this thing like I read the manual 10 times but in reality I read nothing and within minutes I was operating this thing like I've owned it for 10 years. I ordered the network card and will soon be managing my network with it. Maybe I won't have to lug my laptop around with me anymore. Order it now and you will have one in about 3 months. Sorry, but I had just a little bit to do with the shortage.

Summary: The best PDA yet (replaces MP3 Player/Cell Phone/etc.)
Review: The Compaq iPAQ 3600 series (specially 3630, 3650 and 3635) are really great units. I use my iPAQ as a replacement for several devices. As I usually have a 1GB IBM Microdrive in the iPAQ it works as the best MP3 Player yet (I have some 700MB of MP3 files continuously available) and still plenty of room in the MD and RAM. I also use a Lucent Orinoco for wireless connection, which allows me to chek my emails wherever I am at my place. The comprehensive software package (Inbox/PocketIE, PocketWord, PocketExcel, etc.) allows gerat functionality out of the box (you can add many shareware/freeware to increase that further (I recommend Resco's Utility PAckage for Zip compression/Decompression, etc.). For travelling I am about to get a stowaway keyboard which will allow me to conveniently leave my notebook at home and conveniently check emails and eventual webpages. My iPAQ was one of the very best purchases I made last year. As one of the very few PocketPCs to allow the use of cheap & standard PCMCIA cards such as:
- Any NE2000 compliant Networking Card, which usually costs as little as $20
- Some PCMCIA Modems (including the 3Com Cell Modem, which may be used along with your cell phone or landline)
- Wireless NIC, such as the pretty standard Lucent/Agere Wavelan/Orinoco
- IBM Microdrive up to 1GB (using this CF card with the PCMCIA adapter allows for better battery usage)
- Kingston 2GB PCMCIA drive.
- Much more... I am anxiously awaiting the time I manage to get a CyNET Inc. CyPAQ (which is a dual PCMCIA slot for the iPAQ, along with their Wireless Cell/Modem, which allows one to use the iPAQ as a cell phone!). I already got rid of my former MP3 Player and in the future I'll get rid of my Cell Phone too. All will converge into a single unit - my iPAQ! We recently installed Linux in one iPAQ and using teh very same PCMCIA cards we could run applications such as vic for video streaming, etc. It was quite impressive! Last but not least I installed a PersonalJava JVM in my iPAQ and I can run any PersonalJava compliant code, such as my own H263 Video Decoder called jStreaming (http://jStreaming.com). That runs smoothly in my iPAQ. I am conficent that if you are thinking about getting this unit you'll not be disapointed. Do think about getting a Microdrive to go along with it tough.

Review: This is a good value, but the screen is very difficult to read in less than perfect lighting conditions. Under bright flourescent lights in the office, it is fine. The rest of the time, though, I have a heck of a time with it. The internal memory also isn't really big enough to store MP3s. I decided to go back to paper and pen.

Summary: USE IT, LOVE IT
Review: I have had my Pocket PC for quite some time now, and I love the convenience that it offers.
Plus:
- Great color screen
- Fast and easy to use.
- Cradle adaptor is nice so you can able to sync files from pc to pocket pc.
- Includes Word, Notes, Calender, Calculator, Recorder, Window Media Player, etc... (HELPFUL)
- Expandable
Con
- Although it is expandable, you can't use your memory card to do anything but save materials. I am unable to listen to 256 mb songs... but i have to copy and paste song from the card to the pc every time I get sick of listening to the same song.
- Low battery life!
Other than that... it is great... user-friendly... and helpful if you are busy student or a college student...
I use it to:
1) types notes in class (why carry a laptop when you can get this)
2) MP3 player... besides the issue above, music quality is great... easy to transfer from pc to pocket pc.
3) calender and agenda... (keep important dates in check and be on tops of things)
