Rating: Summary: Excellent Palm Review: The Palm Zire 31 is a very great Palm. Please ignore all the reviews stating that Palm's customer service is poor, those reviews are on the company Palm, and not the Zire 31 as a product. This Zire model is uncomparable to it's lower members such as the Zire and the Zire 21. It's color screen doesn't use the newest form of LCD, so it doesn't run games sharply, instead the images tend to blur into each other. This Palm is not for gaming, nor I believe any other Palms are. If you would like to game on your handheld, you should check out the Tapwave Handhelds. The Zire 31 is perfect for buisness, but lacks internet communication abilities. For this you may need third party hardware and software. It runs office software well, such as QuickOffice and Documents to Go. The Zire 31 is a very new unit, so I can't comment on how long it lasts. However, you can't compare it's reliability to the much less reliable Zire 21 and Zire models, because they are much more weak, and are totally different units. The Zire 31 seems to have everything a Palm user would want, except for it's lack of a TFT LCD screen (The faster updating, and higher resolution screens). The ports are not on the bottom of the unit, but hidden on the side under a rubber protection plug. My only complaints are: The screen isn't TFT LCD, The ports are not at the bottom of the unit, and the screen doesn't run in High Resolution mode, like all the other color screen Palms (except for the Treo 600, which also sports the low resolution 160x160 pixel screen). I greatly recommend this Palm, for it's overall value. It has an amazing price for all that you get.
Rating: Summary: Amazing price for so much. Review: The Zire 31 is amazingly cheap($150). It comes packed with everything you need and more. To use it as an mp3 player all you need is a SD card and headphones. All of your other normal pda functions are still there. The screen is bright, but the resolution could be better (it's 160x160), but what do you expect for $150? It has the latest version of the Palm OS and comes packed with essential applications (even real one). Overall if you are looking for a cheap pda that has numerous funcions the Zire 31 is for you.

Rating: Summary: A Great "Starter" PDA! Review: This Zire 31 is my first PDA! I've had it 2 weeks! It takes some concentration to get used to it, and to get away from keeping your life on two paper calendars and endless scraps of paper! But it has turned out to be a GOLDMINE for people like me who can't keep track of things! The calendar setup is great, as are the "Tasks" and the "Notes". A program called "SplashMoney" helps keep track of expenses, and it comes on the CD at no extra cost. There's a cool little screen to write notes to yourself with the stylus. There's an "on screen" keyboard that is a cinch to use if you don't want to print! I even found a thing on the CD that I HotSynched onto my Handheld, and I'm in process of entering the titles of all my DVDs into there... and it automatically ALPHABETIZES the titles as I enter them, so that's a great timesaver! So I'm really sold on this thing! Thing is, the memory fills up fast, so you're going to have to get some MMC or SD cards to expand the memory. You can save a little money by buying your Zire 31 off the internet. I did! Good luck! :-)
Rating: Summary: How much better then the Zire 21 is it? Review: To everyone who is thinking of this product, beware. Sure there are 5 star reviews from people who have had the thing for 1 day. What happens in 91 days when the warranty expires? See the Zire 21 for MANY horror stories of the unit resetting itself and losing everything. My advice is wait a little longer before considering this unit and see how the reviews continue. Time will tell if this is the same old thing as the Zire 21, or a better redesign.
Rating: Summary: Everything you need in the box - almost Review: Well, After using it for about a week, I must say that it does pretty much everything...look @ photos and listen to mp3's. Awesome for $150. However, the photo-viewing program doesn't allow you to zoom in or out. This is annoying because the Photo program just resizes the image to fit on the screen. That's disappointing. You also need an SD card to take advantage of the mp3 player, which requires another purchase. My last CON is the HORRIBLE graffiti2 that comes with it...NASTY. I found a hack online for converting it back to graffiti1, but it acts a little funny after converting it back. Oh well. I was happy that both the mp3 player and the photo viewer both allow you to view photos on your SD card without a problem. The mp3 playback quality is great!
