Rating: Summary: Forget about buying on of these Review: I read a lot of reviews. Some reviews were positive and some were negative. I decided to give the Visor Edge a try despite the claims of unreliability. The thickness (or thinness) of the device is very appealing. My new Edge Silver lasted 4 days. The screen locked up such that no matter where I touched, the drop down menu was activated. I tried a soft reset, then a hard reset. All my data was erased by the hard reset. The screen recalibration procedure started. I began touching the screen only to find the target continuously bouncing back and forth between two positions. Repeated attempts at a hard reset were fruitless in restoring the device function. I was unable to do anything with this piece of junk except return it. I'll never consider another Handspring device. I'll buy a Palm V instead.
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware!!!! Review: I received the Handspring Visor Edge and it came with a non-working backlight. I was walked through correcting steps that did not ever produce a backlight. When talking to customer service I was told I could be sent a replacement model (at an additonal charge of [money]), or have it repaired (shipping at my expense). HOWEVER, they will not guarantee a new unit to replace a faulty one - it could very well be a reconditioned model to replace my BRAND NEW one. So my two choices are get on old reconditioned model (at an additional [money]), or be inconvenienced by sending mine in for repair (shipping at my expense)- neither of which is a great choice for a consumer who was hoping to be enjoying their brand new Visor Edge this week. Buyer Beware I guess is the message here to any Handspring customer!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: It is a good, expandable... and up to the expectations.. Review: I have used palm Vx and casio Pv 600 and tried sony and compaq and it is better than all, the sleek design is very nice; it will look little odd first but you will get used to it,the software is almost complete and better than the palm have. if other people see it, it looks better than palm Vx specially when closed, you will find it hard to hold it in your hand with the stylus on the side but you will get use to it. Once you know how to put the stylus in place and move it, you will begin to love the edge that you are getting... Handspring is way much expandable than any PDA out ther; KEEP iT PALM OS, Pocket PC is a window and you do not need a window OS that takes forever to restart and open aplications; YOU need a fast PDA, Sony CLie with MP3 support you cannot use the MP3. let s say i liked my handspring more than other PDA i tried.
Rating: Summary: Worth the money Review: I bought my visor edge about seven mounths ago for school and to help me stay organized. So far I am pleased with how it is working for me. Images are not very clear on the screen. If you are going to buy a PDA, I would reccomnd buying one with color. I am happy with my investment
Rating: Summary: Warning - sharp Edge can cut you off from your desktop data! Review: Upon first glance, this is a winner. It is sleek, it is solid, it has a great B&W screen and a weighted stylus, it is rechargeable, has an integrated cover, has enhanced applications and comes with a blazing USB syncronization cradle. So what's wrong? The major problem seems to be a well documented history of hotsync problems. Mine occured approximately 28 days after purchase. There was no way to correct this. I reinstalled the software on three different workstations, performed numerous soft resets, subsequent hard resets, cursed, screamed, cried and went into denial. Finally acceptance set in and I realized that I was no longer "syncronizable". Packed it up and sent it back. Thank God for Amazon.
Rating: Summary: Slim but unreliable Review: I bought a Visor Edge in June, and loved it. It is slick, slim and easy to use, with enough upgrades on the Deluxe I've had for an age to make it worthwhile - or so I thought. In Novemeber it died. No explanation, just died and wiped all data. So I ring Handspring and get a replacement. This didn't even give me the chance to start playing with it - it was doa. I'm now awaiting my third one. Luckily I had a back-up module, and use it regularly as I may not be near a hotsynch station as often as my paranoia now requires. And where am I using this data? I'm back on the trusty Deluxe!! It's a shame - I liked the look of the Edge a lot...
Rating: Summary: Durable Review: I love the fact that the construction is mostly metal and that the flip cover is metal. It is so nice to not worry as much about dropping it.
Rating: Summary: So elegant, so little satisfaction. Review: I'm on my third Visor Edge in five months. The first one kept losing it's stylus retainer.(The little screw kept falling out.) Handspring sent me a "new" one and it also lost its stylus retainer AND locked up repeatedly until it finally locked up for good. They sent me a third "new" one a week ago and this one locked up faster and harder than the second one. It had a total use of about 15 times on it. Unfortunately, I also lost data that hadn't been Hotsync'ed yet. So, my fourth "new" one is on it's way. I say "new" because according to the tech I talked to today they're actually refurbished RMA'd ones. So I'm out $300.00 and will probably sell my next one for what I can get out of it and buy something else. That's too bad because the Edge is very elegant looking. It's slimness is fantastic and it does everything I want it to, except be reliable. I guess that's asking too much. Further, their tech support has been more concerned with Handspring's profit than my satisfaction. ...
Rating: Summary: Try it before you buy it Review: Ive had an Edge for a year now, and since then some features have lost their novelty while others I began to appreciate more. The Edge is nicer than the other Handspring organizers because of its thinness. This novelty never wore out. Its small size is ideal for carrying it everywhere. I am also a fan of its big screen size and rechargeable battery. (I traded in my original Visor for the Edge for this reason alone) However, my qualms with it include that the bottom pins do not allow you to take advantage of 100% of the expansion options available for the rest of the Handspring line of products. I am particularly disappointed that the Targus Keyboards are not compatible. My other disappointment is that the pen, while apparently more durable, has a plastic tip at the end, which will break off. Replacement Edge pens costed me 20 dollars for 4. I already used my first pen and am on my second of the replacement styli.
Rating: Summary: 5 Star Palmie Review: The edge is simply cool and cooly simple. You feel it in your palm when the cold metal graces touches your hand. I was so anti-PDA until I got this thing. Now I carry it everywhere and store everything on it. The best feature about Handspring's Edge is that it's rechargeable. None of the AAA or AA stuff. Furthermore, it syncs with either a PC or MAC---no additional software or hardware needed. If you want the best looking PDA that can do the job, this is it.
