Rating: Summary: Sleek and fashionable but question its value Review: Pro's: Sleek metallic housing. Small form design uses good materials and has excellent "fit and finish". This is the BMW of PDA's! Processor speed good, keeps applications moving along just fine. Holding the EDGE in your hand, you know this is a well made product. Big Easy to read screen. Quality stylus really adds to the PDA experience. Fits in my pocket so easily. LiOn battery good feature. Cons: The unit I received operates fine by itself; but having major problems Hot-synching with my laptop. This may leave me no choice but to return it. Battery life not what I expected. What happens when I need to replace LiOn? Send it to a service center? Buy a new one! Yikes. Had to purchase additional software to get the functionality of a comparable Palm unit, this added an additional [money]. Accessories hard to find.
Rating: Summary: The Best non-color PDA!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This is the best non-color PDA. I like it better than palm because the screen is much larger than palm. It is also much easier to use. I like that it has its very own rechargeable battery. The palm mseries are ugly and thick. Visor edge is the smallest sexiest handheld ever.
Rating: Summary: Great first Handheld Review: My Visor Edge is my first handheld and I love it. I was an experienced user of Outlook and regularly printed out my address book and calendar -- now I don't need to. It is easy to use (I find the stylus simple to remove contrary to other people) and it is pretty. More importantly I actually use it. I just read the book "Piloting Palm : The Inside Story Of Palm, Handspring, And The Birth Of The Billion-Dollar Handheld Industry by Andrea Butter & David Pogue and it gave me insight into the challenges of designing such a useful thing. If you love to read and love your handheld, I recommend the book. And I recommend the Visor Edge. In terms of software for it, the best one I've found is SplashMoney which is more sophisticated than the "expense" program supplied by handspring. SplashMoney from SplashData lets you enter information and it is transferred into your Quicken program. Saves a lot of going through receipts.
Rating: Summary: Its so thin Review: The Visor Edge got lots of memory so you can download lots of software. It is so thin like a sandwich. Also its got about 16 shades of gray.
Rating: Summary: Simply impractical. Review: I lost my Visor Deluxe and decided to "upgrade" to the Edge. Immediately I've discovered that the awkward position of the hinged cover makes it cumbersome and impractical for the kind of frequent, quick uses I make of the device. Because you can't fold the cover all the way back, actual use of the Edge in effect "doubles" its size besides making it hard to manage on small surfaces or "on the fly." Of course, I could take the cover off entirely, but that exposes the electrical contacts to possible damage. Now I have no choice but to return the unit and order another Deluxe. Bummer. You'd think the Handspring people would have had the foresight to provide a more thoughtfully designed hinge.
Rating: Summary: Good but mine broke Review: I am a jr. high student that saved up and purchased a Visor Edge. I broke three months after purchasing it but i got it replaced at Best Buy. It is great for organizing and easily fits in my pocket before class. Now everyone at my school wants one. I love its datebook and calculator for working on math and other homework.

Rating: Summary: I love this thing... Review: This is a great PDA,... It's small and sleek, and you won't need to buy any extra cases or anything, because the included flip-lid is plenty tough enough to survive anybody's pockets. As a veterinary student, I keep this thing in my pocket all day long -- rumbling around with big dogs and larger animals, and it has survived like a champ. As small as it is, you get the impression that it can take a good wallop, and it can. The screen is 4-bit monochrome, but clear as a crystal. The backlight... (it's inversed), but I've never really needed to use it -- even in reasonably dim light, the unlit screen is visible. The rechargeable battery is great, if not excessive -- I've never had mine drop below 97% charged after a full day of use, and it takes, literally, seconds to top it off in the cradle. Some complain about the pen -- that it's hard to remove. These people are uncoordinated, and shouldn't own one. It's quite easy to remove the pen, and to reattach it. If you can push a button and slide it, you can remove the pen with minimal fuss. It's a one-thumb operation. The added features of the enhanced 3.5 OS are nice -- especially the fast lookup feature in the address book. This is really cool, and lets you find anybody within seconds, so long as you can spell their name quickly. It's a very neat idea, and the bigger your contact list gets, the nicer it is. The silent alarm isn't worth its salt, however. I'd have preferred a vibrating feature. All in all, this is an outdated, but highly functional PDA. With 8MB of memory, and the option to expand (using the admittedly inconvenient adaptor which requires lid removal), your average student or business person will have kilobytes to spare once they've filled it up. The new color PDAs are nice, but who needs color to read the date? And the shell on this thing will turn more heads than any Palm V-looking model. Highly highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT BUY Review: Pros- Very thin, long battery life, great price, sleak design Cons- "sandwhich look", black and white I am a 4 year old from Massachusetts, and have always wanted a PDA. After lots of research I decided to buy the Handspring Edge. I have never owned a PDA before, but I think this one is really a great find. I use it every day to keep dates, calculate math problems, and write down homework. When I get bored I play the games that I have downloaded. I would recommend it to any kid or adult with a hectic life!
