Summary: What I've been waiting for!
Review: I've been interested in getting a PDA for several months now, and I really liked the Visor products, but they were all a bit too bulky. As soon as I saw this on their site, I ordered one right away and I love it. Everything has worked like a charm, it looks great, and while slim and light, feels very solid. Highly recommended!

Summary: Unreliable w/production problems
Review: Got an Edge last week. After 4 days, touch screen stopped working (actually, it brought up the properties/menu bars across the top of the screen no matter where I touched the screen with the stylus). Had to return it. From reading message boards on the Visor, I am not the first to have these problems.

I think this problem is somehow caused by a short circuit/loose connection related to the Edge connector (new port on back that attaches to a Springboard attachment which attaches to a Springboard module). The problems with my touch screen occurred right after I took off the cover (for about the 10th time) and then replaced it.

Handspring needs to make a more reliable product. I would advise people to wait for the Palm M500-series products to start retailing instead of buying this unreliable PDA.

Summary: Best Palmtop ever
Review: I have a palm Vx which I thought to be the best palm because of its ram and size. I was always envios of my friends Visors because of their expandability but I didn't want to carry around something so large. But now Handspring has solved my problem they have sreated a small powerful palm with great expandability.

Summary: Almost 3 years latter...
Review: Practical, portable, durable, expandable, and it looks good.

Practical - The Visor Edge ("VE") uses Palm software. Unlike Windows CE and the like, its quick and easy to jot down biz information and to retrieve it.

Portable - Check out the specs. This is the thinnest and lightest PDA around.

Durable - Metal case with metal flip cover. My VE has been in backpacks, back pockets, and in cargo pants for almost 3 years and it's still going strong.

Expandable - A plethora of useful and fun applications are developed for the Palm platform.

It looks good - My VE is brushed silver: sleek with a futuristic feel.

When someone manages to fit a color PDA into a VE shell, I'll consider upgrading.

Summary: Better than an address book
Review: The learning curve for this PDA is about as short as it gets. Many functions that are extremely useable for most students as well as business people. DataBase products available to create your own lists and functionality. Durable and Hotsyncs easily with all Windows products. Recharges in the cradle in a very short period of time and holds the charge exceptionally well compared to most color type screens. For the money and memory size this ones hard to beat!

Summary: Art Deco meets PDA in a truly remarkable device
Review: I have had my Visor Edge for about three years, and I still enjoy using it daily.

Sadly, they aren't made new anymore -- you'd be lucky to find one for sale new. If you do, buy it: aside from being unfailingly reliable, it looks really smart -- particularly the blue and the red models (the silver model looks a bit trashy in my opinion). It looks more like an Art Deco device than a fancy pocket calculator, never fails to turn heads.

I have had only one problem with it, and it is quite minor: recently, the hinge on the cover has become chipped: it still works just fine, it just doesn't hold in as well as it could.

The stylus is a dream to use: it's made of steel so it feels like a real pen. And it is shaped so that it fits your hand beautifully as you write. Accessing your stylus is easily achieved with one thumb, and it has a useful spring-loaded clip to make sure it never gets lost.

It's a good idea to visit the little screws holding the case together with a small screwdriver from time to time, just to tighten them up. Wear-and-tear will make them loosen. Alternatively, do as I did and apply a small dab of clear nail polish to the threads, and they'll go nowhere.

(you can still get them off, but you need to apply more Brute Force behind your screwdriver -- just like you should.)

The docking station works equally well, whether you use a serial or USB model(I use both: a serial model at work, and a USB model at home.)

So go ahead -- ignore the nay-sayers and if you can still get one of these PDAs (cheap!) then get one.

Summary: Soft/Hard Reset Machine
Review: I have owned my Visor for 15 months. Initially, I loved it and would of recommended it to anyone: Long battery life, slim design, plenty of memory, low price tag. But my opinion has changed.

Most importantly, it changed due to its flaky nature with add-on (3rd party) software. The Visor is strictly hit or miss, with much more of the latter. First off, let me say, I use my PDA mainly for business. DocsToGo works like a champ. But almost everything else has caused it to LOCK UP. The initial fix is to do a SOFT RESET. Sometimes that works, but depending on what I was doing, I would lose some work. More often though, the LOCK UP would be catastrophic, and only HARD RESET would do the trick.

This basically returns it to factory settings, losing all the data stored within. Pain in the butt, since you need to link up with your computer and re-download everything. For a while I just struggled through it. Then it started happening when I was traveling. Let me tell you, it is VERY FRUSTRATING!

On the plus note, the battery life is good. Granted batteries get weaker, but overall they last a while. I used to be able to go 2 weeks without recharging, if I am lucky now about 6 days.

If you are looking at entering the PDA market, I would skip this device if you must rely on having your data when you are away from home.
