Summary: Good Buy for the Money
Review: This is my first PDA and I must say that I am pleased. I have finally weaned off my Franklin Day Planner and I now rely on the Visor. I must admit that I do miss the monthly page in the Day Planner, which gave me an entire month's planned activity at a glance. You can access a month in the Visor but it isn't as intuitive and easy to see as the paper counterpart. Over all it is a neat device and is actually fun to use. I definitely recommend it!

Review: Well I would love to write a good review but I ordered this product on 4/24 and I just found out today (5 days later)that the seller I bought it from can't deliver me the product because he's out of town... Maybe the face to face purchase at my local electronics store is the best way to go.

Summary: Only Average - and poor support
Review: Originally I was thrilled with my Visor Deluxe - so much that we ordered my dad one. After 1 month, mine stopped synching. I had to reinstall all software and it still happens on occasion for no reason. Installing the software all over again fixes the problem for a while, but then it will fail again. ... Product also is bigger and harder to hold than Palm products - I have smaller hands and it's not a comfortable fit. Works fine when it works, but the tech support attitude makes me leery of buying from Handspring again, and they should support the operating system new computers are shipping with.

Summary: Fantastic, for the price
Review: This is the second one I owned (first was dropped and screen cracked). Without repeating everone else's reviews, this does what it says it will, is very economical, and is easy to use. BTW customer service is very helpful if you do have problems.

Summary: A great starter or basic PDA
Review: I bought the Handspring Visor about 2 years ago and have used it pretty regularly until just recently making the jump to a new HP Jornada 568. In that time I've tried a lot of programs for my Visor and taken it to a lot of places. It always performed well and did its job, however basic that was. A couple of things I learned were that the batteries can go pretty quickly, and if you don't use your Visor at least every other day or so... you might find that the batteries have died altogether - leaving you to have to re-setup your Visor. The stock plastic stylus that comes with the Visor does a good job, but CAN be pushed too far into the slot it rests in, leaving it almost impossible to get out. I upgraded to Handspring's metal and colored multi-pack of stylus - and they are pretty handy with a built in reset tool and screwdriver. The fancy stylus also fits in the Visor the same way as the stock stylus. Handspring did a great job in putting this one together because it lasts. It's built pretty solidly, and in looking back - the only thing I would do differently is to use some kind of screen protector from the very beginning. After 2 years of use the screen is getting a bit rough from scratches. All it takes is a speck of dust under your stylus to make a mark. The battery cover seems to be a bit looser than it was on the days that I bought it, too. Maybe that's to be expected for something that has eaten dozens and dozens of batteries. All of the buttons have a good feel to them, though, and I haven't been able to wear it out. The Visor is not super pretty, super fast, or super big for storage, but is a great tool for your basic appointment keeping, reminder alarms, contacts, etc. It is super-expandable, and there are tons of add-ons for it now, too. I would recommend this PDA to you.

Review: Warning: You must buy a serial cradle (sold separately) and load "Pocket Mirror" software from www.chapura.com if you want to successfully synchronize this product with MS Outlook on Windows NT. Otherwise, it is a great product!

Summary: Very nice overall, but mind the screen!
Review: I upgraded from a 2MB Visor, and would have to say that I love this a lot better. I bought it because it had 8MB and wasn't expensive. I found most C$ (...) models all had 8MB, but if it was a millimetre thinner, it is twice as much. Visor has the springboard expansion slot, plus many features (scientific calculator, world time) standard that you don't get with a regular Palm handheld. This, I feel, is the most important reason to buy Visor brand. You really should get those plastic screen protectors, the screen scratches and breaks really easily. You may also want the PDA case from CellSafe, it's around C$(...), really hard plastic, waterproof, and indestructible. It costs (...) U.S. to get a broken screen replaced. Back to the Visor, I would say the only complaint I have about it is that it runs Palm OS 3.1 and more and more new applications need at least 3.5. The most important thing is you buy an 8MB model, even if you don't think you need that much memory, later, you will.

Summary: Great buy for the money
Review: I recently upgraded to this unit from a 2 mb model (palm m100) and I am completely happy with my purchase. Even with lots of memory hog apps like avantgo, epocrates, quickoffice, there is plenty of memory left. The screen is much easier to read (important for the 40+ crowd) and so far the performance has been flawless, even with lots of 3rd party applications, hacks, etc. loaded on it. This includes dropping the unit from 4 feet onto a concrete sidewalk with only a nick in the corner of the case. I had been concerned a bit about the lack of flash memory and the inability to upgrade the OS, but the differences between the Palm OS 3.5 on my last PDA and the older version on this one is negligible.I can't imagine future upgrades will be that significant. One more thing...because this is discontinued, some of the peripherals might be cheaper too...

Summary: Warning:don't buy
Review: This is for anyone thinking of buying a Handspring product. I purchansed a handspring deluxe through amazon 3 weeks ago. I have had nothing but trouble with this device since I purchased it. The worst part is you have to pay just to speak with anyone in Handsprings customer service dept. I have spent over $50.00 trying to get help with my hot synch problems. All I got was an agents who could barly speak english and did not seem to be that familar with the product, who kept putting me on hold to ask a tech person what to try next. I should have heeded the other warnings that were posted on amazon regarding this brand. Now I"m stuck with an expensive paper weight. Don't make the same mistake I made.
