Summary: Just Wonderful
Review: This was my first Palm. So I was a little apprehensive about it. However, I have been completely bought over. It is a great device and works wonderfully well. However, I did not like the desktop software that came with it. Instead, I downloaded Handspring's 4.x Desktop software. That is even better, because it allows me to sync my palm using Infra red on my laptop. The screen is bright and one does not need to squint to read. And battery life is marvelous. Despite my heavy usage, it takes me through the week.

The only drawback is that it is bulky and a little heavier than other color palms in the market.

I had Graffiti problems in the beginning, but after downloading the patches from Handspring's website, the problem disappeared. I recommend that users should regularly visit Handspring's website for such patches and updates.

Summary: Great color PDA
Review: I researched a bit before buying the Prism and I think for the money, it's the best choice for a PalmOS handheld. Sure the Sony Clie may have a better screen but it's also more [money]. If money is no object go for the Clie, but for us on a budget the Prism has the best screen (size, clarity and brightness) in the low-end range. I've had no problems with the random battery charging problems you hear about or the graffiti recognition it works great everyday.

Summary: Compare with sony before buying
Review: I purchased it two months ago. After seeing all the PDA's in the market, I found Visor Prism a good buy. I am using it with magellan GPS unit. This works great. Prism with GPS unit catches satellites fast. I found Handspring is having lot of spring board modules available in the market. But the fact is each module is very expensive. Also handspring can use only one module at a time. I was disappointed due to the limitation of memory. Though there are spring board modules available in the market, I can't use it while I am using GPS. This is serious limitation. I would sujjest to consider SONY PDA's before buying this. Even though sony PDA's are expensive they come with memory expansion slot, MP3 and bundled software.

Handspring should plan on selling springboard modules at a reasonable price.

Summary: The Absolute Best!
Review: This is the absolute best PDA you can buy. I originally owned the Handspring Visor Deluxe and was quite impressed with it, though it only had a grayscale display. The visor prism, however, has over 65,000 colors and an amazingly bright screen. It is simply indespensible for keeping track of my appointments, email, addresses, and everything else in my life that needs to have tabs kept on it.

To put it simply, this PDA not only revolutionized organization for me, but it also replaced many other items around the house, such as the remote control for my TV. It's absolutely amazing what this little thing can do! The possibilities are absolutely limitless!

Do yourself a favor and skip all the other inferior PDA's out there. Buy yourself this one!

Summary: Buy the Sony Clie
Review: I bought the Prism because of the color screen. Unfortunately, the resolution is so low that it hurts my eyes to look at the screen. The Sony Clie has the best screen on the market.

The Prism has 8 MB of memory, which gets eaten up pretty fast, especially if you subscribe to AvantGo and Vindigo.
It is also much larger and heavier than most PDAs. However, that could be a plus for people who lose things easily ;-)

The first Prism I bought was defective; it would not charge. I will say that I was able to have it replaced easily.

The best part about the Handspring Visors is their Springboard modules. You can make the PDA into a cell phone, an MP3 player, hook it up to a modem...obviously all of this comes at a great additional expense.

According to what I have heard, Handspring is really focusing on their Treo combination cell phone/PDA...that may be the Handspring product to watch.

Summary: A Dependable Workhorse
Review: My first handheld PDA.It alerts me when I have an appointment (or need to exercise or do a procedure), it gives me an address book that is divided neatly into the sections of my life: business, quick find, personal. I have it on my computer @ work & can pop up my calendar & see my business addresses & schedule my appointments. Then I just do a quick transfer of anything I put into my date book or address book, push that button & zap it into my handheld. It has color, easy to download business cards, great to keep notes on clothing sizes, room dimensions, etc.

Summary: The best
Review: I finally made the leap and purchased this product. It is awesome and I use it all the time. Love USB compatibility, so much color, and all features that it comes with which includes some games! However, I was sad that it did not come with an ebook reader and spent two days at palms site finding it. Should come with one. However, overall all, this is a wonderful product!

Summary: Buy This!
Review: Looking for a PDA? Spend a little more and get COLOR!
I did a lot of comparing and decided on Handspring because of the versatility of the handspring add-on components...insert a module and your handspring becomes a digital camera or an MP3 player or a phone or even a pedometer! and for a little bit more I could get a color one, so the Prism was my choice. I got it last week and I just love it, and I'm not even using it fully yet. The color screen is very nice and crisp and the hot-sync is quick and easy...just set it in the cradle and push the button...you're synchronized.
A tip for AFTER you've bought it...don't go out and buy software, download on the net and try before you buy. Quality varies.

Summary: Not Meant for Everyday Use
Review: I don't know what the kind of thinking went into the Handspring Prism, but durability was not one of them. Further complicating matters is the poor soldering job of the contacts which are attached to the base of the Prism, (which are needed to recharge or Sync the unit).
At one time, the original model for the Handspring was made out of wood; they should have stayed with that medium. The plastic case used for the prism is about as fragile as an eggshell. Secure the Prism with some sort of bungee cord or else it'll shatter when it hits the ground, or as has happened to me the base contacts fell off.
The contacts at the base of the prism are susceptible to breaking off, this because of the poor soldering job that is utilized during the production phase.
For what I paid for this..., When initially rolled out) I should have waited, because there are much better PDA units out there and at better prices.
There have been reports in trade publications that there is a merger with Handspring and Handango, which has left many wondering what are Handsprings intentions in the PDA market?
Any problem with Syncing with the XP OS is the fault of the owner. Handspring placed support files on its web page for all to download. If someone complains that they are having problems with the Prism not working with XP, they failed to either download the newest edition of the desktop, or they downloaded the file and failed to read the instructions.
Currently I am a college student holding down a full-time job and utilize the Prism for scheduling at school and turnover notes when at work. I also run both versions of XP (Home and Professional), syncing is not a problem.
In conclusion, if you can make a promise to yourself that you'll cuddle, hold, wear white gloves and exercise extreme caution while using the Prism - Go for it. However, if you plan to use the unit in real world situations take a pass.
Until Handspring makes an affordable titanium case model, or one utilizing an all rubber case, they've lost me as a customer.

Summary: Bright, beautiful screen! Is it a PDA or just plain fun?
Review: I finally upgraded to an official personal digital assistant after finally deciding to part with my trusty Sharp Wizard. The Prism was a good choice. I purchased a Palm 505m for a friend for Christmas, so I've been able to side-by-side compare the two. Palm looks cooler, hands down. But Handspring has a workhorse feel to it. (I'm trying out some games on it and it's great fun. I'd say it rivals Gameboy, but hey, what does a 50-year-old know about handheld games?!) Between the two, the Prism's color screen is far and away the best. Holds up well even in daylight. I'm still getting to know all its tricks (quite a step from the Wizard), but I feel confident I made the right choice. By the way, I found these reviews on Amazon very helpful in making the selection between the Palm and Handspring. Believe the owners!
