Summary: Great product with minor problems.
Review: I love my Prism and use it constantly. It's great for games and reading on the road. It does have some minor problems, though.
1) In direct sunlight, the screen appears black, making it difficult/impossible to use.
2) The darned thing is bulky as all getout.
3) It doesn't work with any other Handspring products, except the styli and the cartridges... so you've got to have special cradles, chargers, cases, etc. And you can't use keyboards.
4) Poor battery life. Don't plan on using this thing all the way through a trip. Buy a car charger.
5) Customer support is AWFUL!!! I seriously think they were trying to scam me out of some money. They actually did get some out of me so that I could replace one IMMEDIATELY so that I could get something approaching a real battery life. Otherwise I'd have been PDAless for several weeks.

Summary: Simple Thoughts Count
Review: I own a Handspring Visor Prism and currently I bought a Palm M130 for my motherinlaw. The fact is that Handspring had the mind to make simple adjustments that make Visor much easier to use than M130. For example, the cradle that Handspring provides, unlike that of Palm M130, can be used in any European country and no voltage difference pose a problem for recharging the battery. The screen is much brighter and image quality seems to be much better for Visor. Finally, I have been using Visor for over a year and never had I need to reset it. It took four hours for M130 to be jammed and to need reseting

Summary: Don't even think about a Palm !!
Review: I've bought 2 Palm Pilots. First one was a Palm Pilot IIIx. It kept hanging on me for no reason. Worked with Palm Customer Service for several weeks to no improvement. Finally Palm replaced with a III and refunded me the difference. I sold it and took a loss. Stupidly, I next bought a Palm m100 because it was [$$$] and this too started to hang. As soon as that happened I sold it on eBay and swore off PDA's. A co-worker heard about the Palm problems and told me he had the same Palm problems until he bought a Handspring. Against my better judgement I bought a Visor Deluxe. It was great. Everything a PDA should do and more. It allows snap-in Springboard modules for things like more memory, cell phones, voice recorder, GPS color maps, videocameras, and a lot lot more. In addition to the fact that it has never hung, it is also cheaper than comparable Palm products. I then bought a Prism which has, among other things, a color screen, built-in rechargeable battery, very visisble in direct sunlight or a dark theater. The color games are almost as good as Game Boy and it has never hung for me. The 2 bad things about the color Prism is that 1) its bigger than the Visor Deluxe due to the internal battery and you need to recharge the battery daily if you use it a lot like I do. The Visor Deluxe only needed two AAA every 50 days !! so I got a little spoiled.

Summary: wow!.
Review: Prism is my favorite among the Visors because of the color. Beyond that, Visor modules make this wee gadget phenomenal! Eyemodule 2 module turns the handheld into a camera/video camera. Haven't had an opportunity to try the video, but the still photo quality is terrific for digital. GPS module helps me to map finds when I'm hiking, and detailed street maps get me through unfamiliar cities. Audible module keeps me up with my subscription to audible.com for listening on the go, and the phone module keeps me connected. "Aren't all those modules a pain?" Not in the least. The modules listed above, plus others and a Targus fold-up keyboard, all fit in a small, zippered book cover case that I can tuck in any bag. If I were to carry the individual items to accompish what I do with my Visor Prism, I'd need a considerably larger bag and a stronger back. Almost forgot how rugged it is! While listening to an audio book in the hottub, the Prism fell in. After reeling it in by the headphone cord and taking the case apart to dry (3 days), it worked just fine! Water marks on the screen burned off after about a week. I've also managed to drop the Prism on several occasions and my big pooch doesn't seem to notice when she's standing on it. I highly recommend the clear screen protectors!

Summary: good for the money
Review: OK, there are lots of hand held devices now, and of course the phone/pda combos. But, I still like having a separate phone and pda. Let your friend borrow a cell phone? Sure, but not if your pda is attached to it so that he can see all your other info, security systems aside.

The color presentation in the prism is very good compared to the equivalent competitor. Size is a bit large in my opinion, but not too bad. Could use more memory, but what device couldn't? I dropped it twice, from a distance of 2-3 feet, once onto concrete, once onto a hardwood floor, seems to be fine. Recognition software decent. Overall, for the money, this is the pda to get. Naturally though, I haven't tried them all.

Summary: I like it, I love it, I want some more of it
Review: I bought my Visor Prism in February of this year and am quite pleased with the results. I am currently attending law school and found that my Visor fits all of my needs as a student. The color display is excellent and easier on the eyes than the typical non color displays. With the Quick Office suite and other software available, it is like having a laptop without the weight or the expense. [This is crucial when you consider the sheer mass of books the typical law student is toting around on a daily basis] The only problem I have [which is the reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars] is that I have found that I can only get through about 120-140 minutes of class notes [continuous typing with the Targus Stowaway keyboard] before having to recharge [*please note that this was an issue with other PDAs I have used in the past]. To remedy this, I merely carry a portable charger with me and by the time I am done with my lunch break [about 30-45 minutes], my Visor is ready for the second half of my school day with a full charge. The Visor is also convenient for sharing class notes with other students. Instead of fumbling with disks, all I have to do is beam my notes to whomever needs it [the other person has to be able to accept IR transmissions with their PDA]. Although I also purchased additional memory for my Visor, I have over three months worth of class notes on my Visor and even with the 8 games I have loaded on the device, I am still only using about 30-35 percent of the 8MB on the Visor. In addition to this, the myriad modules that are available makes the Visor remarkably expandable. For $170, a Visor user can run a PowerPoint presentation off of the Visor itself. When reviewing the PowerPoint presentations on the Prism, you are instantly glad of the fact that you can see the presentation in living color as it appears to the audience on your Visor. I would definitely recommend this PDA to anyone in the market for a palm top and ESPECIALLY for a student who is looking for an alternative that is easy on the wallet and on the back. To borrow from the 1990s classic film "Clueless", "Two thumbs up! Fine holiday fun!"

Summary: Absolutely Good PDA
Review: I bought this product roughly a year ago. Since it was my 1st PDA it was hard to get used to at first, but then I got the hang of it... Compared to the others on the market I think this si the best. Its display is the main feature, compared to other Handheld PC's this is a really great alternative at a really affordable price.

Summary: I just love my new toy.
Review: Before I bought my Handspring Visor Prism, I was seriously considering a Palm, but luckily a co-worker told me about the Handspring. For several weeks I researched all my choices looking for all the pros and cons that were associated with each model. And for the money, I choose the Handspring Visor Prism. I never have to worry about keeping AA batteries on hand, it has enough memory for now (8MB), which I can expand to 16MB, if needed. It has excellent resoulution, and creates over 60,000 colors, which make any of the 60 games that I now have on it look so incredible. It doesn't weigh as much as my Franklin planner and can slip into my purse, where it makes waiting in line bearable, and even helps me with my grocery shopping, thanks to PalmBasket. I could write for days about all the helpful software that I've discovered for it, but my limit is 1,000 words. Go out and get one!

Summary: Handspring Prism !! The Best
Review: This is the best handheld out there for the money, don't waste your time with buggy Pocket PC's. This one has an amazing display.

Summary: Screen is far easier to view
Review: The Prism is an upgrade from the Platinum for me. While color is THE primary selling point; the brightness of the icons on the screen, especially in daylight is THE REAL bonus. No more tilting my PDA at an angle to avoid glare, especially on a cloudy day. The operating system is the same and I have never had a complaint about its operation. Another improvement is the ability to recharge rather than replace AAA batteries. I expect that this new PDA will serve me well, that is, until some newer and "funner" technology comes along for a teacher who wants just the basics.
