Summary: I love it! except....
Review: I was comparing this to the Palm VII as far as functionality and I love it, except I am a little disappointed that the modem isn't wireless like the Palm is. Knowing handspring they will probably have one eventually to compete with Palm....I sure hope so.

Summary: Glad I didn't wait for the Palm Vx...
Review: Well, it was a tough decision... I weighed all the options between the Palm Vx and the Visor. While it was tough to get over the slick look of the Palm V, the blue Visor is really cool looking anyway. The key is, however, that looks really don't matter here - what matters is what it can do.

First of all, the springboard feature is the number one reason to buy the Visor. It's awesome. And yesterday, they just released a modem that is only the size of the cartridge (unlike the one for sale on Amazon) that doesn't even require batteries. It's amazing, and it's only a hint of what's to come. If you look at the Handspring home page and click on Springboard Module news, you'll be amazed at what you see coming in the near future.

Memory of 8MB is simply fantastic. It's not worth paying another $150 for 8MB on the Palm V. Plus, with the Springboard, you can double it. For way less than $150.

Make sure you get AvantGo. All the other reviewers are right - it's great. Don't neglect this service! News, sports, info, travel, fun stuff, whatever...excellent!

USB support is a big thing. It has it, and the transfer is pretty fast. USB is the future of computer ports, and Handspring obviously knows that.

Make sure you get the Write Right things to put on the screen to prevent scratching. And the Graffiti handwriting recognition is very nice. I have no complaints.

The only negatives would be that you don't get the rechargable lithium batteries, you can't flash upgrade the OS, and it's a bit heavier than the Palm Vx. But it makes up for it. Unless you're one of those people who needs color and the extra PocketPC features, I think the Visor is the way to go. An excellent product with plenty of upgradability. Definitely a five star innovation.

Summary: Visor puts the palm Vx in a dust cloud!
Review: Let me put it this way: a lot of fellow students from medical students have invested in PalmVx devices for their daily needs. Most of them are used only as desk calendars. A few of us more computer-oriented types went for the Handspring Visor. It is just as good as the Palm products in terms of their organizing and filing uses, but considerably superior in its expansion capacities and general design, even though it uses the standard Palm OS. The Visor fairly begs to be played with, expanded, tweaked with, and pushed to its ultimate potential. It is extremely well-made, as are the Springboard modules that are now coming on the market. Combine a Visor with a Stowaway keyboard, and you will have almost no need for a laptop again. I have not been so impressed with a computer product in many years. I notice that PalmPilot fans tend to dis the Visor, presumably because change is threatening. Palms and Visors are both great machines. But if you really want to put a handheld to work as a computer, and have fun with it in the process, the Visor has the clear advantage. Plus, an insurmountable advantage is the Visor's variability in presentation: I'm talking about the colors, baby! I strongly suggest you get it as soon as you finish reading this...

Review: I was in the market to replace my Plam III and went looking for the IIIxe. None to be found. I decided on the Handspring Visor Delux and have not been sorry. I like the new datebook over my old III, clear screen and the deciding factor? The Springboard modules. You can't expand a IIIxe! You will not regret this purchase.

Summary: Handsprings Scores a 4!
Review: The Handspring Visor Deluxe is by far one of the best deals in the PDAworld right now. It only cost $249, as compared to Palm's IIIxe. However, the Visor Deluxe does NOT have FlashROM to upgrade the OS. To counteract this deficiency, the Deluxe does come in various iMac inspired color casings. Also, the Springboard expansion slot is very promising, as developers continue to announce (and sometimes release) modules every few months. The improved synchronization between the computer via the fast USB architecture and calculator and dateboook applications are a plus! Everything is great about the Deluxe. The only drawbacks is that the backlight screen is a bit darker than Palm's IIIxe, and the lack of FlashROM hinders future OS expansion (unless the OS can be patched via the Springboard.) Overall, the Handspring Visor Deluxe...is a steal! If you're a fan of the Palm OS, buy it now!

Summary: Win95/NT users beware - you must purchase the serial cradle
Review: The Handspring Visor Deluxe is a great product - I'm very happy with it. However, the Visor Deluxe comes standard with a USB cradle only. If you're a Win 95 or NT user, then you'll need to purchase the serial cradle. Be careful to order this early, else your batteries will run out and all data will be lost.

Summary: Great Buy!
Review: I have had my visor (deluxe blue) for about 7 months now and I absolutely love it. I use it all the time for addresses, scheduling, memos, games, calculations etc...

Before looking at the Visor I was thinking about getting a Palm Vx but was held up by the hefty price. The Visor gave me everything I wanted from the Palm Vx and I could use the huge base of existing software because it runs Palm OS!

Since I have been using my Visor three of my friends have ordered. Don't wait, this is a great little device for a great price.

Summary: Great Product
Review: I've had both the Palm III and the Visor Deluxe. The Visor is EVERYTHING the Palm III is, but with a promising expansion slot for a GPS, modem, radio, mp3 player, pager, ethernet, ..., ..., ...
