Rating: Summary: Not always reliable Review: At first I was happy with it, but then screen cracked (a common problem). Sent for replacement. The replacement did not work at all. Sent it back. Third one freezes all the time. I got out of the habit of using it (this whole exchange took several months and the month I really needed it came and went while it wasn't working) and it is not reliable because it freezes. I bought it because it was much cheaper than the palm and because of the modules, but I would probably not make the same decision if I had to do it all over again. If you need a reliable product more than you need bells and whistles (in the form of modules) I would not recommend this product.
Rating: Summary: Suprisingly Versatile Review: I found myself carrying a clipboard with a to do list and notes so a PDA was a logical choice. The price kept me away for a while , but I got over the price and bought the Visor Deluxe. Ice was not my first choice, but I like it now. If you are going to buy one and use it at work and home buy two cradles so you can synch both, it helps. What I like, the alarm feature, fast communication and beaming. The graffiti is not that hard to learn, and its a great way to keep a to do list (I keep multiple for personal and work). The Deluxe has expansion potential, so I opted for this in lieu of the Palm IIIxe, which is a good unit.
Rating: Summary: could get more for your money Review: This product I have had for about a year and it is great as far as organizing your daily life, but I think that it is just starting to get a little old and out dated. There are many other products like color ones that would probably be better. The most important part about it is that It has indi-glo. It does not waist very much, it is easily compatable with your computer with the cradle and the cover comes all the way off. It is a Pain for a while, but you do get used to it. Another function that I like is the fact that it can have parts put into it's expansion part in the back, like a phone, mp3 player, personal recorder, ect. If you do get this product then I sugest you get a cover, not because that it will break easily, but that it gets perminent marks in the back of it. Also if you get it then go to the website, open up product links and find quick silver. It is a great program that spices up the appearance of your visor. Casey S.
Rating: Summary: This thing rules! Review: I have a friend who had a visor. He turned me on to these neat little devices. I did two months of research, researching EVERY PDA you could think of, including the pocket pcs, and decided to go with the visor deluxe because of its affordability, expandability, cool colors, and interface. I got it for Christmas and it was more than I ever expected! It does things like shows movie times, web site clippings, games, and has MUCH more expandibility. Especially with the springboard module. The only thing that troubles me is how easily the screen cracks if it accidentally slips out of your hand or anything like that. You have to be very careful with this and I suggest insuring it at palmslostorstolen.com. It is worth it.
Rating: Summary: Nicely made, no problems with product Review: The Handspring Visor Deluxe is an elegant, useful and easy-to-learn product. I haven't had any of the problems that some folks have mentioned in their reviews, but I would recommend backing up your data to your PC or Mac just to be safe. Apparently the memory problems only occur if you install certain shareware programs. The one piece of information I could have used ahead of time was that the Visor Deluxe ships with a USB cradle. I own a Mac and use a PC laptop for work. My Mac doesn't have USB and my PC does, but the Handspring isn't compatible with Windows NT with USB. I had to go shell out... for the serial version of the cradle, so be sure you're aware of this ahead of time. Be careful with your Visor. They are somewhat fragile. I accidentally dropped mine from a height of about three feet and it cracked the screen. I had to pay... Handspring for a replacement unit after owning my original one for 10 months. Hopefully they start making them of hardier materials in the future! I'm very pleased with the Visor Deluxe and have found it's scheduling, alarm and mini-database features very useful. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: A waste of money and time Review: I've owned this unit for over 6 months and in that time I have gotten fatal exception after fatal exception. Handspring says you must have incompatible software loaded on it. I cleaned everything off, started over and still the unit crashes. It crashed 2 weeks ago, I reset it, put in new batteries and then left it home while on vacation. Come home, turn it on and before I even hit a key, FATAL EXCEPTION! I'm throwing the thing out and buying a Palm Pilot like everyone told me to in the first place.
Rating: Summary: GOOD FOR THE PRICE Review: I was really quite impressed at everything that you can do with this Visor. For the price you can not beat it. Perfect for students and business people! I would recommend getting a keyboard for it however since the Graffi style type writing can be difficult to get used to and quite frustrating. I personally went with the Targus stowaway keyboard and love it because it is so easy to carry and take anywere with you and is quite. Also they keys on it are full sized so typing is not difficult at all.
Rating: Summary: Great PDA Review: I received my Handspring Visor Deluxe as a Christmas gift, and have only been using it for a few days. So far it is awesome! It has replaced my bulky day planner forever. I use it for everything: appointments, to-do's, notes, drafting e-mail messages, and reminders. It's extremely easy to learn how to use; I have never had a PDA before. I'm learning how to write in Graffiti, and it's so user-friendly. I also recommend getting the Deluxe, it has more memory than the standard. Handspring's web site has some great shareware that you can download for the device.
Rating: Summary: What a breeze! Review: I admit I am a bit slow -- just getting into the PDA craze and all, but the prices were outrageous and I always felt the units would be difficult to use. I am glad I waited! The price of my Visor was very reasonable, and yet it is very powerful and easy to use! I barely had to read any instructions to get everything loaded and synced to Outlook. I am very happy with the product, and have found it very easy to use. I was concerned about the Graffiti, but it has been a breeze to pick up. I am very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Great value for the money Review: I've had my Visor deluxe for 8 months now and have never had any problems with the product or the operating system. I did invest some extra money on a carrying case which has protected my Visor from the usual drops and bumps. The great thing is the 8MB of memory you get and the option of all the add on modules. If you're not sure what you'll use your PDA for, then the modules provide great flexibility vs. getting stuck with a Palm that isn't expandable (of course, you pay a price for those modules). I just bought the Soundsgood MP3 Module and it's great, couldn't do that with a Palm.
