Summary: 5 STARS FOR CLIE!!!!
Review: Just upgraded from a Visor Prism and the difference is astounding! Twice the memory, twice the pixels, more software and half as thick....also totally ready for WIN XP! I love the fact that it uses the Memory Stick; recently bought the VAIO 505 laptop, and have a SONY digital camera....KUDOS to SONY! A WINNER!!!

Summary: Good Price, Excellent Performance & Capability
Review: I have a Vx, a Clie 760, and just acquired the Clie T615C, because of its 16 MB of memory. I use lots of apps and large reference files and databases so the 16 MB was a must have. I truly liked the 760 but did not really need the MP3 feature (I would rather have a dictation capbility) and used PiTech to run apps off of the memory stick so I could maximize system memory. The 615 provides plenty of memory and I can still use PiTech if I need to. Best of all it costs less. For someone looking to upgrade and in need of excellent high resolution display and performance, they could not go wrong with the T615C.

Summary: Great Handheld, autonomy could be better
Review: This is my 4th Palm powered PDA and my second Clie after the 610c, and I just love it. I loved the 610c and this one improves on it with more memory, a slimmer/lighter design, latest OS, additional softwares and a few bugs that have been fixed (auto off now works!). The only problems (relatively speaking) that I see with it are as follows:

The battery does not last very long, I would guess 4-5 hrs of continued use with the backlight on. Believe me, unless you're in bright daylight, you NEED the backlight on...Anyway, I guess the autonomy is the price you pay for such a slim device. Plus, on the 610c you could unplug the charge cord from the cradle and use it at home to charge your Clie directly into the wall. Now, you can only charge the 615 on the cradle, unless you buy the...adapter ..Not good, especially now that you need to recharge more often.

The color screen is not as bright as on the 610c, I would say about 90% as good, so it still looks spectacular compared to the Palm IIIc and all the other 160x160 resolution screens. You just have to set it at almost its brightest setting for best results.

All in all, this is the best Color Palm Powered device out there. No other one even comes close, especially in terms of screen/color quality, that is until Palm finally decides to join the 320X320 screen resolution club. Also, since now you can buy 128MB Memory Sticks, you can load thousands of pictures in your Clie, dozens of books, or even entire dictionaries. New also on the T615, you can backup your handheld entirely on a memory stick for a later restore if something goes wrong and you lose your info. You can back it up up to 5 times. I back mine up every day, it takes only 3 minutes. If you are thinking about buying the 760c or the MP3 adapter for this one, forget it. With the audio on, I doubt you'll be able to listen to even one CD before the battery runs out, but if you mainly listen to MP3s at home and you have the charger, then you could use the Clie as an MP3 player, just make sure you are close to an electrical outlet...

One look at how an Excel table looks on the Clie compared to the Palm IIIc, Hi-Res Pics or even eBooks will smaller, more defined fonts, convinced me to buy a Clie. I recommend you do the same. And one more tip, buy FasCPU , your Clie T615C will work much faster (from 33Mhz to 55Mhz, 46Mhz for the N610C), and still be as reliable. If you access books or pictures on a memory stick, you will welcome the extra speed.

Summary: I got lucky on this one
Review: This is my first PDA, and after doing months and months of research, pondering the latest and the greatest, I finally came to a decision and boy was I glad! This PDA is great. Prior to this, I'd considered the Compaq Ipaq, the Palm 505, and the Casio Cassiopeia. As most people would know, the Ipaq is extremely expensive, which is probably what discourages prospective buyers even more. The Palm 505--although a decent piece of hardware--is lacking severely in their dim screen. And the Casio, well let's just say that thing can't exactly be carried around in your pocket.

The Sony, however, surpasses all of them from what I've experienced thus far. It's got a great assortment of applications (for the business professional or the college student, such as I), and although I'd been looking forward to a PocketPC interface, the Palm OS 4.1 is just as good. The vivid screen is what really tipped the scales--simply beautiful! And for the price, I'd say it's worth it, especially if you're considering the Palm505. Not only that, the slim, sleek design and durable case looks and feels like a quality Sony product.

Summary: This one's a winner
Review: I have used four other Palm OS based systems, the V, Vx, IIIc, and 505. I consider myself a power user - I have several megabytes of documents on my palm, as well as some large spreadsheets, an automatic time zone changer for my trips, etc. However, I don't use email, modems, or other accessories (other than a travel kit, which is available) for my palms. So, since the closest comparable model is the 505 (and that's what model my CLIE is replacing) , how do they stack up?
1. Memory - the 505 comes with 8MB, the CLIE with 16MB. Easy win.
2. Speed - while I don't know the chips inside them, the time they take to recalculate a given spreadsheet of mine is the same. Tie.
3. Bat Life - The 505 seems to have a slight edge in this regard, if only because it is almost mandatory to use the backlight on the CLIE... which brings me to 4,
4. Display - The CLIE has double the resolution, an adjustable backlight that even on the dimmest setting puts the 505 to shame. Hands down the CLIE's display is the best I have seen, and finally makes it worthwhile to put photos on your handheld! With the backlight off, the 505 has a slight edge, but both are pretty terrible with the backlight off.
5. Size - This is the reason I picked up the CLIE 615. It is the same thickness, slightly lighter, a bit taller but a bit narrower than the 505 (heck, read the dimensions). For those of you who like to keep their handheld as light and small as possible, the CLIE 615 will not dissapoint.
6. Extras - The CLIE has the jog dial and back button, trying to make it as one handed as possible, with no comparible feature on the 505. While sometimes it is useful, it is not all that important. The CLIE comes with a good bundle of software, and seems to be built quite solidly.
In sum, the CLIE 615 is great. It does just about everything you would want a handheld to do - execpt for built in internet access, which is what the Palm 705 seems to be designed for. I highly recommend it!

Summary: Great upgrade from my PalmV
Review: I've had my Sony Clie T615 now for about 2 weeks now and I love it! I like the slimness - it fits in my back pocket. The high resolution screen is perfect for showing pictures, although the colors are not very bright. I haven't tried the memory stick yet since I haven't run out of memory - 16MB internal memory! I'm dissappointed that it won't support the "scratch pad" application (the one that lets you write on the screen rather than using graffiti). I had a Handspring Visor for a couple of days that didn't support the scratch pad application either. The Handspring's colors were much brighter, but the resolution didn't compare to the sharpness of the Sony T615. I love the jog dial on the side of the Sony - it allows you to scroll through pictures at your own pace. Overall, it's a great product!!!

Summary: Great Handheld!!
Review: I purchased the Sony Clie 615c about a week or two ago, and I am very impressed with it so far. It has great visibility in bright light or in the dark. Sony also loaded it with a ton of aplications. You can download one map from randmcnally for free, but any additional maps you have to pay for. There is an application to view pictures and another to watch movies. Both of these applications are really good, the pictures are amazingly clear, and you can convert any movie format(.mpeg, .mov., avi, etc) to view it on your handheld. There are a number of great games, but hey are only demos. I previously owned a Handspring Visor Deluxe, and the software that syncs your desktop and the clie software is much better. It somes with intellisynce lite which is a very good syncing program. All and all I highly recomend the Clie 615c, I would have given it 5 stars, but the battery is not all its cracked upo to be, I get about 6 to 7 hours from a charge, but that would not keep me from buying it becasue of all of the other great stuff.

Summary: A Sony in the Palm...
Review: I've only had my 615 for 2 days now, so I'm not able to comment on long-term usage. That said, this product is by far the best PalmOS device I've used.

The screen is great, as long as you always have the backlight on. With the backlight off, it is completely illegible. With the backlight on, the screen is great. It has none of the problems of the T415 model.

The product feels very solid, and it works just as it should. I love the 16MB of memory, the Memory Stick capability, the pocketability. It's everything you could want in a Palm product.

The buttons are not as easy to use as other Palm products, so if you're a heavy gamer and you use the buttons, I'd suggest that you try one out in a retail store before just ordering.

The battery life is less than stellar, mainly due to the size of the unit. If this is a concern, you may want to consider another product.

But I love my T615C. It's small, color, and it's everything I want in a PDA.

Summary: Hate to see it go...
Review: I have had this unit for several years and would still be using it if I did not need some more power apps which it can't run. I have nothing but praise for the design and the jog wheel was hands down over everything else they or anybody else have come out with. VERY disappointed Sony is not selling in USA anymore and so I bit the bullet and bought a Tungsten E. The manager at Staples wouldn't even sell me the Sony demo, which I would have taken as their stuff just seems to be machined so much better. Holding my breath on that Tungsten...

If you are not a power user but just want PIM functions and to take your mail with you on the road from your PC, this is still a great unit and IMHO built like a rock. Resets needed very infrequently.

Farewell my darling!~

Summary: Going...Going...Gone!
Review: I bought my Sony Clié PEG-T615C/U of eBay for $160.00 CAD in December of 2003. It was the best purchase of my life. I used it for taking notes in class and the battery life was good enough for me to use at school and charge every night. I would play games on public transport to school and home and would act as my alarm clock each night. Ultimately, the best thing ever. In mid-June of 2004, all of a sudden, my Clié refused to charge. The green cradle light failed to light, as did the orange unit light. It wouldn't HotSync either. I put it on the shelf and couldn't use it anymore. In August of 2004, I took it to Sony Repair Service. They said that it would cost $175 CAD to repair, but before they could repair it, they would have to look at it which costs $50 CAD. Astonished at the response of Sony Canada, I left. Why has Sony been going downhill? They used to be so much better than they are now. They even discontinued the Clié because it was breaking so much under warranty, that they were losing money. Sony is about money now instead of quality. After my encounter with the Repair Center, I figured that I had nothing to lose, and opened the Clié up. Nothing that I could find. I recommend never to buy this product, unless you know the people that you buy it from very well.
