Summary: Don't pass up this soon-to-be-gone deal
Review: This is the time to pick up one of these great entry-level color units. They are on discount now because they're being superceded in Sony's current product cycle. I conducted many hours of research, looking at just about every unit between $100-$300. I initially wanted to pay low-$ for an S320 but found that new units were impossible to get. When I also added in the cost of a USB cradle for that unit (or even the S360) it made more than enough sense to go with the T615's hi-res color screen instead. The fact that it plays sound files is kinda cool. Also I felt the jog dial and back button are located in much more ergonomically correct positions than the SL-series. **All the people that complain about poor battery life have apparently not taken time to find out why. The answer is that these units ship with the backlight brightness set at its highest level.** The manual doesn't mention this, of course. Once adjusted downward to 1/4 or 1/3 brightness the battery hums along like most other PDAs. One big complaint I have in this regard is that the quick-access buttons on the unit's face ALSO turn it on! This is why you see some some complaints about it turning on in your pocket. I accidentally drained it this way, but figured it out before I ruined the battery. I am going to buy an accessory kit with car charger and a case to prevent future problems of this sort.

Summary: Is it worth the money?
Review: Quick answer is NO!
Great PDA. Yet, after I bought one, Sony came out with the SL10 (monochrome @ 320X320). The last monoC was a 160X160 so I stayed away from it. I would recommend the SL10 over the 615C or the 665C. Battery life is better on the BW and still double the resolution of the Palms/Handsprings.

Summary: Great PDA. although should have waited for the T-665
Review: Great PDA. Easy to use, full of features, great display resolution. Red color a bit dark. But who cares. I did not buy it to paint landscapes. Only down finger is no MP3 support.
Should have waited for the 665C

Summary: T615 DOA - Think SONY support must be too!
Review: I anxiously awaited the SONY Clie T615C as this was my first personnal PDA. When it arrived I read the directions, plugged the cradle in, inserted the 615 and the charge lights came on, but no charging symbol on the display like the booklet says. Still nothing after five hours - one more than required for a full charge. After removing it from the cradle, I pushed the power on button to configure it - still nothing at all. Apparently the unit was DOA. Off to Sony's web site for support. What a joke. The links for this model are all dead. After looking for a half hour I found a phone number to call - the number seemed to be out of operation. More looking and I found a spot for some e-mail help. I got an automated response saying they had got my message and an automated response would follow, but it never came. I have called the supplier and they are going to replace the unit since Sony apparently is doing everything they can to avoid doing so. After reading the reviews here, I see I am not the first with a dead unit or lousy support from Sony. What a letdown, I always liked Sony's products.

Summary: Great Product with a quirk or two...
Review: Concerning the review by Angelika Siewert, I wanted to set the record straight for potential buyers. All Clie T series units need to be reset (pushing a button on the rear of the unit) after they come out of the box to enable the beaming function. Sony knows this, but has not, to date, fixed the issue or added the appropriate instructions. Its a one-time issue, so the fault is really Sony's, for not resetting it themselves prior to shipment, or instructing the buyers correctly.

Also, I love my 615!

Summary: Easy enough for "crayon-level" ...techie-wanna-bees...
Review: I just bought the Clie' PEG-T615C...and I'm not a "techie"....in fact, I'm at about "crayon-level"...I just use this stuff...I don't understand it. (usually I don't even understand the terminology in the manuals, so I just punt.) Which means this review is for those of us who are "tech-challenged".
After buying the product, taking it home and charging it, I was able to do the set-up and download some great software...within a couple of hours. The directions are easy to understand and the unit itself, is pretty self-explanatory...so much so, that even a "crayon-level" person like myself can use it with ease.
I'm pretty impressed and pleased with this product and it's performance, the great price I got it for, the directions and the quality. I'm also pretty amazed at all the things it's able to do. It's definitely going to make my life easier. To have my daily/hourly planner, addresses, contacts, notes, outlines, lists available in a small, easily portable device...is like a dream come true. Not to mention the coolest thing of all...(after downloading free software)having the entire Bible (in a couple of different translations) available at the press of a button, with search/find a verse capabilities at my fingertips. Now, THIS is what technology was made for...
Bless...

Summary: Almost perfect!
Review: I've had mine about a month now, and I'm still very pleased with it. The screen is better than anything Palm or Handspring has to offer, and it's a very solid unit. My only concern going into it was the very small up/down button on the front, but that's turned out not to be much of a problem. I'm getting used to how to use it, and the jog dial takes over much of its function anyway.

The weakest part of this unit would be battery life, but that has to be qualified. I've used this unit as much as 3 hours (continuously; yes, playing games!) in a day, and still only gotten the battery life down to about 50%. If you use this more than that you might be in danger of running the battery down completely. Also, battery life seems to be dependent to some degree on the application you use. Heavy graphics game applications seem to tax the battery more than datebook/address functions. All in all, though, I think the battery life is pretty impressive given the very nice color screen and the backlighting (which I think is the best I've seen on any color Palm-compatible PDA).

If you have worries that the 320x320 resolution might not be compatible with your favorite Palm application - don't worry about it. Though the unit is high-resolution, you can exclude specific apps from using the high-resolution mode (it's done in Preferences). I had several apps that I had to do this with, and once you make the setting everything works just fine.

Also, one review below noted that they got a unit that wouldn't beam. I had the same problem initially with mine, but it turned out all I needed to do was reset the unit (by pushing the reset button on the back) and then it worked just fine.

All in all an excellent unit. If you travel, though, I would strongly recommend a travel charger.

Summary: Read the small print first
Review: This Clie will not run on Windows 95 or NT! It looks cool to be able to show friends photos on my PDA but I can't run it on my office computer. It doesn't look so cool having to constantly tap on the PDA screen for numbers, etc.

Summary: A Solid Buy
Review: I highly recommend this PDA. Having looked at this and several other models from competing brands (HP, Compaq, Palm, etc), I feel confident in saying that the PEG-T615C has the most impressive display. A few of the complaints you'll read about in other reviews (useless rocker button, small stylus, poorly attached cover etc) I found to be correct but rather inconsequential. The handheld is beautifully designed (with the exception of the flip-cover) and runs on the vastly superior (to Windows CE) Palm OS 4.1. I think a new Palm OS is coming out soon, along with a modified verison of this model from Sony that plays MP3s... so if that's what yo'ure looking for I recommend getting that model. Otherwise, this is a good PDA that will not disappoint.
