Rating: Summary: Great Features Low Price Review: I bought the IIIE because I wanted to get rid of my paper organizer, but after using it for a couple of days I realized it did much more than the functions of my old organizer. I now keep everything in it, plus the days current news and my e-mail. I havn't had any problems with it. I only wish the display was a bit more crisp but for $150.00 I shouldn't complain. Just add a good protective case like the one I have from "Rhino Skin" and you should be good to go. Also I should add, I am a Law Enforcement officer and my palm pilot gets plenty of abuse on the job.
Rating: Summary: better be careful Review: I got my palm IIIe a couple weeks ago and it is simply great. Last weekend it dropped about 2ft on a carpet floor. The touchscreen broke (anything else still works) and Palm will charge me $100 for a replacement. These things are great but better be careful. If you want to carry it around, better get used to the fact you have to watch after it. Handhelds with a touchscreen break very easily and that's not only a problem of the IIIe...
Rating: Summary: great product Review: I got this free >1 year ago. very useful, handy device. using it mainly for ebook these days. Wish it had a better contrast screen and more memory to hold data.
Rating: Summary: Good product, depending on your lifestyle Review: I have had several different Palm's over the past couple of years (since the Palm Pro) and have observed some things about it as my life has changed. First, it really is a great little device. It is easy to use and is a great personal information manager. The variety of third party software greatly extends it capability -- I even use my Palm as a backup alarm clock when I am travelling. When it comes to lifestyle integration the Palm really pays off if you are on the move or don't have a computer readily available. If you have easy access to a computer at work and home it isn't as valuable. The Palm can also be a problem if you are moving between several computers running different operating systems. For example, I use both Linux and Windows at home and at work. Palm integration does exist with Linux, but I've found it just isn't worth the trouble to keep everything updated. Also, since I spend so much time near computers I don't have the incentive to keep my Palm up to date. So, be sure to consider your lifestyle before purchasing one of these. If you are unsure about it the IIe (or one of Handspring devices) is probably a good choice since they are pretty cheap. I spent close to $400 on some of my Palms and don't feel they were worth that much. A couple of words of advice if you decide to make the investment: - If you are a Windows user, consider investing in one of the third-party syncronization packages. They make syncing with products such as Outlook a breeze and are worth every dime. - Pick up a an extra pack of styli with your order. You get a couple with the Palm but sooner or later you will loose them and it's nice to have extras immediately available.
Rating: Summary: Great product but glass screen easily breaks. Review: I have had the Palm IIIe for almost 3 months. It is truly a great product. My only complaint is that the unit did not survive a 3 foot drop to the floor when it fell out of my top pocket while bending down at work. Even though the cover was closed, the glass broke and now the unit will not operate since it no longer reacts to touching the glass. Palm offers a $100.00 repair policy if it is mailed back to them. The only other way out is to purchase their (1 year 1 time) screen warranty for 30.00. The only problem with this is that you have to wait 30 days after buying the warranty before you can make a claim. Once you use one of these you can't stand to be without it for a day! Other than its fragile nature I do like it.
Rating: Summary: Size Does Matter Review: I have heard a lot of people tell me not to get a Palm IIIe because it is not the smallest Palm model out there. . . This is a straw-man argument. I got a Palm IIIe and it is GREAT. 2MB or memory is not much for my desktop, I have 256 MB of RAM and 30 gigs of HD, but for my Palm Pilot, this is more than I will ever need! Don't waist your money on more expensive models, unless you are planning to write a dissertation on your palm pilot, and a lot more, it will hold it all with PLENTY to spare. As far as size, it is the exact size as most other palm models, and it is VERY portable. Someone said that it is visible in a sport coat, well they need to trim down a few pounds then, or buy a coat that fits. Not only do I keep mine in a sport coat pocket, I keep it in the smaller pocket on the inside left of most of my coats. I wear a 39 Long so the pockets are smaller than most coats anyway, and trust me, you can't see or feel it. The Palm IIIe is a Great buy, and a heck of a Palm Pilot, no upgrade is needed, unless you want to connect to the web with no wires, then get the Palm Vii and pay $44 a month. Hope this was helpful.
Rating: Summary: Really a Great Product Review: I usually don't like PDAs, because I remember all the appointments and I use my cellular to store phone numbers, that's why I only bought a IIIe. I figured if I don't like it, I'll be able to sell it quick. Well, now I can't live without it ;) Not only do I have all my phone numbers and adresses on it, but the programs you can download are so many and most of them are freeware, I now use my Palm IIIe all the time. I don't think I'll let it go, I would prefer to keep it and buy another Palm with more memories, but not right now, I'm using only half the memory of my Palm right now, I still have time ;) And now lots of my friends are going to follow me and buy a Palm :)
Rating: Summary: A great product ! Review: I was - before I got the Palm III - negative to the use of the "pen" only. That was a mistake - it's easy - convinient and accurate. And I store mails, addresses, notes, actions etc. Just great !
Rating: Summary: A truly valuble product Review: I'm a 15 year old boarding school student, and I cannot recommend this product enough to other students as well as professionals. It keeps me updated with my schedule, I can send email as soon as I realize there's a need, it keeps my grocery list, my expense account, it's easy to use, and it's fully compatible with my computer so I have backed up data. The only fault would have to be that everything is deleted if the batteries die, but other than that it's been a godsend. I strongly recommend it for people on the go, and this version especially for other students.
Rating: Summary: Truly Organized Review: I'm an outside salesman for a company that supplies building materials for residential home construction. I always considered myself to be a disorganized person until I pruchased a Palm IIIe. I can now keep track of my customers shipments, and problems for each project as well as appointments and phone numbers. Several of my customers are supprised at how much information I have at my fingertips. I write up an average of 1000-1500 sales orders a month so they would be hard to keep up with without my palm. Most of my fellow salespersons have to make calls to find answers to their customers questions when all I do is whip out my palm. It is a very good organizational tool. I don't know how I lived without it and highly reccomend it.
