Rating: Summary: Excellent!! Review: I am very hapy with my Sony Clie. As with anything you buy there are some functions that could be improved. The dual keyboard (screen and hard keyboard) are useful.
Rating: Summary: The most beautiful handheld in the market Review: I bought mine online after seeing the reviews in the internet and never having one i my hands before. And i'm absolutely amazed with it. I was upgrading from a Palm IIIx. The differences are huge between the IIIx and the CliƩ, but it was as easy to use as the older one, just right out of the box.Probably the most important thing is that this is a Palm device, and that means simple, efficient and stable. The pros: a huge, beautiful, color screen. Probably one of the most important features. The included camera may seem a gadget, but i've found many applications for it in a couple of days, and the image quality is very good for such a small device. It is comparable to a PC webcam. It will amaze your friends and bring attention to it, no doubt. There's a keyboard, and an mp3 player included. The sound is beautiful, able to play polyphonic midi and wave files. The cons: the keyboard is hard to use. The unit seems well built, but i'm afraid that if i lend it to someone stupid, he or she may break it. Also, it's expensive, but you have to realize that this is the best handheld in the market. There's no other one like this out there, and probably it will take some months or even years before someone else manufactures a comparable machine. I'd buy it again in case that i lose it.
Rating: Summary: Not reliable Review: I got my Sony Clie with camera as soon as it was on the shelves. I am very impressed with the screen resolution and design. I am quite happy with this product actually. But I think it would be good to mention a few negativities here for people want to buy it. After 1 month I purchased Clie, it started not to recognize the memory stick. The staff at the store had one also and her Clie (same model with mine) was doing the same problem. Since I have extended warranty they changed easily. But still this is not a good sign. I do not know if Sony is aware of this. The second subject when I listen mp3 from the memory stick it does weird noise in the songs. Both the old and the new (changed) do the same thing. It is annoying. There is no voice recording future also. For this kind of prize for a Palm OS device Sony should think about this. Also the keyboard buttons are very tough and not useful. Other than that it has many features and cool design.
Rating: Summary: No word can describe this! Review: I had a difficult time on finding my 2nd PDA. I wanted to get a color screen this time. So,.. my final choices were Ipaq 3835 and NR70v. Since I'm a student, I wanted to buy something reasonable. If you get ipaq, you have to buy additional device or you are stuck with 64MB. It's not running Palm OS. and expensive. So I bought NR70v and I love it. Some people say camera is stupid but I really love this camera. And most of time, I use it as the mirror. It works great! Sony included great softwares. You can put small movie files, mp3s, and pictures. You can use this PDA as a remote control or digital picture frame. You also get a keyboard. Yes, it's little small but not a big problem. Sometimes it freezes completely so you have to reset. It happens rarely but it does happen sometime. It's the only complain I have on this PDA. Get a 128MB memorystick too! You need more than internal 16MB. Trust me.
Rating: Summary: Sony...No Baloney Review: I have bought this PDA with a lot of expectations, and I think they will be met. It has a lot of features I have to learn to use, and many I may never learn to use. The design is amazing, and it really is an appealing unit to use and look at. My current Prism doesn't seem to compare. I will keep it as a momento. If you are looking for the one unit to do most everything, this may be it. You will find the following a big surprise and helpful features: 1. The camera quality 2. The music player 3. The many options for entering data 4. The storage medium 5. The versatility of being able to use the pda in several ways. 6. The ergonomics of the design 7. The high resolution 8. Sound quality even without head phones 9. Ease of use. 10 Size
Rating: Summary: Best Handheld Ever Review: I have owned a Palm IIIxe, M505, and now this one. The Clie blows all the others away, by far. Graphics & functionality are far superior. Only shortcoming is the lack of accesories available on the market yet. If you want the best handheld outthere but this one if you want the second best then buy the palm.
Rating: Summary: This PDA Is Excellent Review: I just bought this PDA and it is everything I could hope for. Sony struck a pot of gold with this one. Get a memory card (128 mb maybe) and you have enough memory for thousands of applications. I had trouble with Sonic Stage, but I am assuming I can figure it out. The camera works great. The keyboard is not good with numbers, but you can use the on screen one for that. If you have any further questions e-mail me at ryanj0@belleville.k12.wi.us

Rating: Summary: Broke Quickly - Sony Didn't Honor Warranty!!! Review: I loved my Clie until it broke only 2 1/2 months after I paid $599 for it. I sent it in for warranty repair - they promised 10 day turn around. A MONTH later they finally told me what was wrong with it, said it wasn't covered under warranty, and asked for MORE THAN $400 to fix it. I escalated within Sony and got the price down to $170, but they still won't fix it under warranty. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in SONY. I thought this unit was last for years, like my Palm IIIc that it replaced. I was wrong. Sony caused me to lose my employer's trust for decisions like this. I wish I had chosen another brand in the first place. Don't choose gadgets over reliability like I did!
Rating: Summary: Multi PDA Owner Review: I own both a plam and pocket PC based PDA. For those who are trying to decide which is better, I hope this is somewhat helpful. Sony NR70V Pros & Cons - The screen quality is much better than a pocketpc based handheld, but I have to admit that I was surprised that the battery life of both are about equal. It used to be that plam battery life was much longer. That is not so with this Sony. - For those who are looking for basic easy-to-use, palm is the way to go. If you want more capabilities, then pocketpc is better. I was really disappointed that when I purchased the sony that the software included only included a trial version of the presentation software (particularly for this much money). The pocketpc had the excel, word, powerpoint as standard. - The memory is too limited. I spend over half my time trying to clear up space on the memory. Not all programs work on the memory stick. I am not sure why this is?!?!? My pocketpc has a lot more space to move files. - The sound quality on the sony is much better than my pocketpc. However, the Sony Sonic stage is very intrusive and doesn't work with the more inexpensive sony memory sticks. I found this out too late, of course. Pocketpc I can play wma and mp3. This gives me a better ability to save space. The sony "check out" system is insulting. I am not sure why sony treats all Sony handheld owners as potential music downloading criminals. I own all my own CD's. - There is a lot more software for the plam than the pocketpc. However, not all of the software will work on the Sony. In particular, I was looking for a better music player, but because of the Sony propriatary software, none of it is compatible. Still, some of the palm handhelds I dealt with sounded pretty good. - The sony is far superior when it comes to the quality of photos and software to support it. However, this is my least used feature. - It is a big advantage to have the keyboard included. I don't enjoy trying to hook-up my pocketpc with the fold out keyboard. Too much bulk. - For work, I am forced to use my pocketPC. For personal and fun, I use my sony. I am not willing to buy third-party software for a 500 dollar PDA to look at work files. - Sony memory sticks cost much more than SD/MMC and CompactFlash cards. WHY? - Overall very disappointed. If you decide to get a Sony and are a heavy user of your PDA, get one with more than 16MB. Remember that the some software will not work off the memroy stick, regardless of what sony says. If you are only using your PDA for personal and recreational needs, Sony is okay. If you want a PDA to also listen to music, look at the other palm handhelds that support multiple files, not just the MP3 or propriatary software sony forces you to use. For the basics and for photos, then this Sony will work for you. Good luck. - -
