Rating: Summary: Finally a PDA I can enjoy Review: Hi folks, I've been through the gamut of PDA's. I even had an IPAQ...but yet, that wasn't perfect. First of all, it was too heavy to hold and would lock up all the time. Now onto this Sony. It seems that they are trying to keep up with Pocket PC. On this Sony there is video, there is a faster processor, and an MP3 player, though you need a memory stick for storage. Overall it is very fast, is very nice to look at and quite stable. The high resolution is amazing for viewing pictures. Those same pictures on the IPAQ weren't as clear!!The only gripe I have is with the buttons. Sony needs to go back to the circular buttons...easier on the fingers. You will not be disappointed with this model. If you are looking to upgrade, this one is worth it.
Rating: Summary: Clie on the Mac! Review: I am finally going to buy this for my Mac, as I spoke with the MarkSpace Missing Sync people at MacWorld, and have confidence this will work for me combined with their product (which apparently comes with both OS9 and 10 versions bundled). They have a way to get the pictures from either the built-in or stick camera through iPhoto, so I guess I am all set! I am only giving it 4 stars, because Sony doesn't let Mac users know there is a way to use the Clie on the Mac, and I haven't got this set up yet. Can't wait for that Jog dial!
Rating: Summary: Nice, sleek, HiRes, Great sound, color. Review: Title says it all. A big jump from my old Palm IIIx in convenience, quality and usefulness. Amazing sound and color. Great way to carry a mobile photo album. I immediately installed DateBk5 (my favorite Datebook app) on this. Suggestion to users: Make sure the (third party) apps you download support High Resolution. Some apps only support the original 160x160 and they don't look that good on the clie (jagged edges). For example, mobibook supports HiRes... some other apps like EpocratesRx do not. If you don't play a lot of games, then you shouldn't worry about battery life. Will easily last for a week at least. If you cradle it once every 3-4 days, that should be good enough. For someone that does a lot of traveling, you should consider buying their travel charger( this charger holds 4 AA batteries, and can be plugged in to the clie to charge it).
Rating: Summary: An amazing, practical PDA... Review: I finally mothballed by Palm Vx and got a Sony Clie T665C. I am a PDA user that goes way back to the early Apple Newton days, so I have a long-term perspective on PDA use that may be of benefit to those considering buying this Clie. Even with the promise of the upcoming Palm OS5 and ARM-based hardware, I went for the Clie now and I am glad I did. This Clie is absolutely amazing. The display is so far better than my Vx that it's hard to imagine how I lived with reading text off of that Palm for so long. The form factor and build quality of the T665 is nothing short of superb. The built-in MP3 player, jog dial and bundled software made this a no-brainer for me. The typical issue that some people have with the Clie line is battery life, but I am going to pose a different perspective. I think that Sony struck a brilliant balance between excellent features and the practical need for battery power for the vast majority of PDA users. Most PDA users enter notes, to-do's and schedule info at various points throughout the day. With this Clie, you can do all that plus add in listening to some MP3's. Access to a power outlet is typically not an issue for most users, so you drop it in its cradle once every few days it's not a big sacrifice especially in light of the fact that this Clie is generations beyond a Vx. To be clear, if you need to enter text or play games 6-8+ hours a day, listen to MP3s all day and you have no easy access to 110V, you should choose a black and white PDA with minimal features that will run forever and buy a dedicated MP3 player. Or better yet, use a laptop. Bottom line is, in almost 10 years of PDA use, I have observed that the vast majority of people who actually continue to use their PDA (some lose interest) use it as a PDA, not a PC. If you need a PC, and everything that goes along with running a PC (think Microsoft Windows), get a PocketPC. Overall, the Clie T665C is an excellent PDA with great features and readability that has to be seen to be believed.
Rating: Summary: Great PDA! Review: This is a great PDA. The screen color and resolution is excellent! If only it Sony would include Mac software. It works wonderfully with my Mac, thanks to Missing Sync, but come on Sony, include the software!
Rating: Summary: Great for nontravelers, great for me. 4.5/5stars Review: I am 22 years old and had m505 (or non multimedia pda) for a long time. I got so bored with it since it really does not do anything but act as a PDA. I dont have a business to run and i never travel so i realized that battery life isnt a major concern for me. #1 is functionality and FUN factor! So finally i gave into sony. i had doubts with the battery life being too short but then realized that for the first few days i may be using my new toy for hours for sure, thus having more chances of getting batteries drained. but like any toy you soon get, lets just say, wont get too excited of it then thats the time you will be using it for normal period of time. by then you will never have to worry about battery life. this thing really is worth the weak battery life coz i know i will surely have fun with this device. its slim, light and this is all i need when i get out of the house (and my cellphone or course). i know i wont need earphones to listen to mp3s coz the builtin speaker is loud enough for you to hear the songs. but only in a quiet room and you may have to flip it back so that the speakers will be facing you directly. The software package is good. im still picking the ones worth keeping. the remote commander is awesome but the only thing lacking is the training feature, like omniremote has. the jog dial isnt that easy to use compared to the previous clies, based on what ive tried on stores. my only gripe is i cant seem to find a 256mb memory stick for my new toy. 128mb is honestly not enough for my music needs. Rating: Summary: improvement from T615 Review: This is a upgrade from the existing T615 model; major improvements include processor 66mHz; MP3 player; and screen (supposedly same as the N series except smaller). Image file transferring is noticeable faster, colors are more vivid like you see on the N series. The more desirable royal blue case color is not a choice yet.
Rating: Summary: good pda Review: i doubt anyone will even ever read this as sony has pulled out of the market, but this is a really solid pda. i need a new one b/c the screen is messed up from dropping it too many times (i am really hard on it). i have really enjoyed it though. as long as i am replacing it, i want a faster processor. 66 Mhz is a lot faster than the original palms, and faster than most folks need...but i run some medical software on mine that utilizes every ounce of speed. if you are just a regular user, or relatively new to pdas, you won't be disappointed in this one! be sure to get the cradle that comes with it as it is pretty cool.
Rating: Summary: Could be the Most Beautiful PDA there is!! Review: I got this unit about 2 months ago at an excellent price ($149.00 new). I purchased it at a navy military Exchange store in Mountain View, Ca. Meaning the price that I got it for was exactly $149 because of the no tax policy. I've owned palm pilots before (Palm m105, Palm m130, then Palm 550) I wanted to go different ways but still get the excellence of Palm OS. So I saw this at the store (and for your info this is regular price at any military place from now on) and I got it. I love this PDA it does everything that you want...personal assitant and entertainment! The look is sleek and matches its weight appropriately. Some tips and add-ons to make it even better than it is: 1. Add Kinoma Player (free) and Producer ($). The quality is 10x better than the provided gMovie. Download cartoon episodes (The Simpsons) to fit 2 entire shows on a 128mb. 2. Get Documents to Go Premium($). You can review your drafts of a very important report rather than bring your bulky notebook computer. Use it like an editor for last minute fixups! Powerpoint is awesome! 3. To fillup some room on Datebook and remember important holidays and learn of some new ones - get Holidates2 ($) 4. Get SplashPhoto - view your pictures from your sony camera memory stick. SplashMoney - "So thats how much money I have." SplashID - get your plethora of info, serial, registration, usernames, passwords, etc organized! 5. Games - the best there is "Warfare Incorporated" The best sound, graphics, challenge there is in a PDA game. (has actual voice overs). Only bad thing is the huge memory it needs...store it in a card. Second place is "Billiards" - just like yahoo pool. Third - "Bejeweled" Fourth - the always popular "DopeWars" 6. Reading up on news and sports? Get avantgo (free). Pictures are a bit cluttered but clear enough and updated very often. 7. Make sure you get your free map from Mapopolis - this helped me a few times during my times in SF. 8. Battery Life (a happier life?) a. Keep brightness level exactly at 50% this gives you almost same level as 100% but saves you 30% on extended battery life. b. Turn off "Beam Receive" in Pref menu. Because if on - it searches for activity in the air every 2 min. c. When outside make sure you turn off the backlight (by holding down the off button) d. You can leave the T665c on the charger overnight, when the charge light goes off, there's only a very small trickle charge being delivered to the battery, whcih is probably helpful in the long run. I really like how my clie looks on the charger...very neat. Hopefully you got the matching cradle. 9. Purchase BugMe and exchange the memopad shortcut button to this handy application. You can now write your own short messages in your own handwriting. 10. To save a few K bits - delete any unneeded soundutility sounds (i keep about 5 of them only). 11. For your address book...get small size quality pictures for each of your collegues and friends and paste it on each of them. Also make a professional buisness card when you need to beam. 12. Finally to complement the beauty of the unit you will need to protect it without deceiving the look. Get the Metal Deluxe Case from InnoPocket that has the exact material finish and dimenstions of the T665c. It is made specifically for this clie with cut outs for volume, jog dial, sync, hold switch, and even memory stick! Check this site out for it: http://store.craytonelectronics.com/metdelcasfor4.html Now the Bad: 1. Battery life is not great when you want to listen to music at the same time when your doing applications. 2. Can't delete some preinstalled software...like gMovie. 3. Not sure how to replace LiOn battery when needed. This is a discontinued item...hopefully my tips will make your clie experience even better! - Jommel
Rating: Summary: It's a shame that they are discontinued. Review: I've own palms ever since they have have been made. This is certainly the best for its time and it would take a lot of improvements to make be buy another. I've bought a palm on avg. every 6 mos. But to the facts. The metal casing is a plus and adds to durability. The buttons are quite small and not really user friendly but thank god for the jog wheel. The screens is not the best but, the imaging is excellent none the less. One feature is the 20 ft range of the IR which makes the Clie remote its most unique feature and lots of fun at friends houses as well as you own especially if the wife keeps hiding the remote. I'm keeping this short due not being redunant.
