Summary: Much better value than Palm
Review: I'm a first time PDA user and I'm in love with it.

Let me tell you this, I've never been an organized person, and I'm not now, but whenever I need to do something I just put an appointment with alarm in my Visor and it reminds me of what and when I have to do anything. Really useful for a guy who has no memory.

No more pockets full of papers with phone numbers, dates and appointmente, just write it on your Visor and let it take care of it.

There are even loads of applications that remind you of important dates like birthadays and aniversaries that can make a difference with your friends, family or clients.

Another fantastic feature is the posibility of answering you emails on the go, everyday I spend a couple of hours on the train, it is fantastic to read and answer emails that I don't have the time or will to write back at home.

I also installed Avant Go and now I can read the latest news every morning on the train.

The 8 MB memory is also a good deal, very good price and you can stuff lots of things in there. I got plenty of books (wich you can download from lots of places for free!), notes, pictures, games, contacts. I have more things that I can use and I still got 4 MB free of space!

No more getting stuck in an airport or train station with nothing to read or play (I got chess, othello, rpg games, shoot 'em up games...)

Just think of a use you need from the Visor, just get in the internet and check the thousands of applications there are for it, I'm sure you'll find the one you need. All that without speaking of the great modules that are available like 8 MB more of memory or the back up module which can save your day if you happen (not likely) to loss you data.

Don't think about it, buy it and you will take it everywhere!

Summary: Passionate
Review: I've had my Handspring for two months now, and it is just great. I knew these PalmOS things inspired passion, but it's hard to really appreciate until you use it for a while. It's always with you, it's functions are instantaneous, and battery life is so long it's a non-issue. It's not an exaggeration to call it life-changing.

I find the calendar and phonebook to have the biggest impact. They're synched with my office's MS Outlook -- very nice. But consider an app like electronic books. (I use the AportisDoc reader). Find yourself waiting in a line? Don't get upset -- whip out your Palm and continue reading your current book. When these things (really) go wireless, it will be amazing.

I bought the EyeModule this month. The photo quality won't blow you away, but you can take it with you everywhere, and it's quite inconspicuous. Very life-changing. Drains the batteries much faster, though.

Hats off to Jeff Hawkins and the other folks at Handspring. God bless 'em.

Summary: good product, very convenient if you need it
Review: I like this product a lot because I travel so much. I can keep loads of info. and still keep in contact with my clients. It is fast, tiny, and I love the green color. If you need something portable, I would highly suggest this.

Summary: Take a Handspring and make a splash into the PDA pool!
Review: Anyone considering a Palm-based devices should look no further than the Visor Deluxe. Its USB connection makes Hotsyncing very easy and fast. Its Springboard slot makes upgradability and expansion a breeze. The term "Plug-n-Play" truly lives up to its name with this device. Though the OS is not upgradable, it is patchable if ever it need be. I thoroughly enjoy my Visor Deluxe and highly recommend it!

Summary: Excellent device
Review: After researching all the PDA's from PalmOS to PocketPC, I decided to take the plunge and purchase the Handspring Deluxe. I may have made purchase mistakes in the past, but this one is definitely NOT a bad investment. The Springboard module was what swayed me to their product. I'm waiting for the GPS module for sale this month.

Summary: Flash ROM not needed
Review: One reviewer said that the Handspring falters due to the lackof Flash ROM. Handspring answers why they chose not to use Flash ROM... the Visor is upgradable via a Springboard module, and that most users would never need to rewrite the entire OS. Don't be afraid, a Visor is a great buy!

Summary: Great Product -- Expandable and Useful
Review: Like some of the other reviewers I spent a lot of time researching PDA's and decided on the Visor Deluxe because of it's expandability.

The one thing that I am disappointed about, however, is that I had to buy the Serial HotSync cradle for an additional 20 bucks. The Visor comes with a USB cradle standard, but their Windows NT HotSync software doesn't support USB, so I had to plunk down an additional $20. This means that it was more expensive than the Palm III XE, which is essentially the same product.

Still, the Visor has the "Springboard" capability that pushed it over the top. This slot on the back of the unit allows you to plug in cartridges or other devices and create an entirely new device. Some available modules are a GPS receiver, a digital camera, and additional memory. There are also games...which is a big deal to some people because they would take up a lot of memory otherwise!

Summary: Best Handheld on Market
Review: I have the VDX Blue with an eyemodule digital camera attachment. I love it. Great for parties, meetings, vendor visits, home buyers etc. And, the Handspring enhanced calendar (Datebook Plus)is way better than Palm's version of Datebook. Handspring rocks! Can't wait for new modules coming soon. It's a Palm PLUS!

Summary: A masterpiece of mini-computer design
Review: Let me put it this way: my firm just invested in a large number of PalmVx devices for our attorneys. Most of them are sitting around unused, or are used only as desk calendars.

A few of us more computer-oriented types went for the Handspring Visor. It is just as good as the Palm products for stodgy business uses, but considerably superior in its expansion capacities and general design, even though it uses the standard Palm OS. The Visor fairly begs to be played with, expanded, tweaked with, and pushed to its ultimate potential. It is extremely well-made, as are the Springboard modules that are now coming on the market. Combine a Visor with a Stowaway keyboard, and you will have almost no need for a laptop again. I have not been so impressed with a computer product in many years. I notice that PalmPilot fans tend to dis the Visor, presumably because change is threatening. Palms and Visors are both great machines. But if you really want to put a handheld to work as a computer, and have fun with it in the process, the Visor has the clear advantage.

Summary: An amazing product
Review: I've owned a graphite Visor deluxe for three months now -- it may very well be the most incredible piece of electronics I've ever owned, and that's saying a lot!

The 8MB of RAM is a gracious plenty. I've loaded mine up pretty heavily, with several e-books, a few AvantGo channels, a class manager for all of my undergrad courses, lots of appointments and contacts, and of course some games! Still, I have over 5MB free!

The Palm OS is far superior to Windows CE, and the Handspring version (OS 3.1H) has been tweaked by the wizards at Handspring. The Visor is over 50% faster than the Palm III, and 20% faster than the quickest Palm, the Vx.

On HotSync speed, the Visor again beats the Palm. The USB cradle HotSyncs *very* quickly.

And, you can't beat the price! For $250, you get more RAM, faster processing, and quicker syncing than the Palm! Plus, you get the expandability of the Springboard slot. Although there aren't a lot of modules out right now, there are quite a few in development. (Personally, I only have the 8MB backup module, which is great -- I'm eagerly waiting for the InnoGear SixPak.)

My only complaint was that my Visor Deluxe came with a plastic stylus that was way too chintzy to use, and I purchased an upgraded metal stylus, which is great. Now, however, I hear that all Visors are shipping with metal styli. I guess sometimes the early birds don't always get the worms -- or the good styli.

I also recommend that all Visor owners use a screen protector -- WriteRights are available at CompUSA, or you can make your own out of clear laminate. The screens do scratch fairly easily, and the protectors are so cheap and easy to install, it's well worth it. Plus, I find the plastic laminate easier to write on than the bare Visor screen -- feels more like paper.

All in all, the Visors are wonderful -- buy one right now! You won't be sorry!
