Summary: Handspring reigns supreme
Review: My work was going to pay for a PDA, so had to choose between a HP Jornada, and a Handspring. I got to take the HP thing home with me for a week to try out, and then the Handspring. The Handspring blew the PocketPC away. The PocketPC runs a version of Windows, which is awful - it crashed on me several times for no apparent reason, and had a clumsy interface. It has a lot of 'gee-whiz' features that are useful for trying to impress geek friends (and eat bettery life), but which do not help keep organized. The Palm OS is elegant and easy, and the Visor's battery life is amazing. In the end I came away thinking that the Handspring is like a work of fine art, and the PocketPC is like a poster from the mall with some flashing neon lights.

Summary: Better than DaVinci!
Review: I had tried the DaVinci PDA twice. The first one got destroyed by a co-worker, and the second got stolen with my purse.After two months without a PDA, I figured the DaVinci was bad luck. I saw the Visor on Amazon, and decided to give it a whirl. I've had my new PDA for 24 hours now, and I love it! The grafitti style of writing works 110% better then the DaVinci ever did, and the memory and flexibility of the Visor is great! I'm very happy, and went to handspring.com and ordered a custom case for storing this. I think it will increase my productivity in sales tremendously!

Review: I will be short and sweet. It a great prodicut. I had ZERO trouble getting it set up and working with my USB Macintosh system. I find the desktop software to be excellent, and no issues with hotsyncing. All in all, I am impressed with ease of use, thoroughness of software and price.

Summary: Time Travel!
Review: Little did I realize, when I opened that little brown box from Amazon, that the device inside would be something from the future. It does indeed seem that way after only three days of using this truly amazing, small, albeit powerful handheld computer. I am astounded by all that can be done with the Handspring Visor. As I've said, I've only had it for three days, but have already downloaded seven new applications. I was able to do this, as well as enter dozens of pieces of data, with great ease. I have never used an actual palm handheld, so it's hard to compare; I can't imagine anything being easier to use, and I'm still learning. Barry R.

Summary: Can't imagine life without it....
Review: My new "external memory" has already saved me in the few days I've owned it. No more losing slips of paper with phone numbers and todo lists and reminders. I love the ability to add memo/notes to appointments and to do items - let's you keep the follow-up information with the original trigger. Husband is already making noises about getting him an orange one...and he scoffed at me for wanting one to begin with!

Summary: Lovin' It
Review: I went with the Visor on the recommendation of some friends who have them and because I like the idea of the expansion modules (especially the GPS option). I bought the Deluxe model (w/ 8Mb) because I understand that the expansion modules require some significant amounts of memory -- and so I can download applications without worrying about running out of space. Everything is working as advertised. Setup couldn't have been easier. It comes with some nice extra touches as well: first of all, the standard stylus is now the same as those in the "upgrade pack" of extra stylii. Also, even though I splurged and purchased the slim leather case (also on the advice of a friend) so I can more easily use my Visor on the go, the leather slip case it comes with is very nice, and it seems you can use it just fine in place of the plastic clip-on cover -- and it will keep the screen well protected. Probably my favorite feature is the simple search engine, which enables you to easily find ANYTHING ANYWHERE that you've entered. I really like the fact that all of the names, numbers and addresses (and everything else) I enter is A)backed up on my PC, and B)stored in what is certainly by now an industry standard format. If you have slips of paper and post-it notes all over the place and are wishing that there were a better way to keep track of lots of stuff, I suggest you give this baby a try.

Summary: I'd buy it again
Review: After considerable research into PDA's I went with the Handspring Visor Deluxe and couldn't be happier. Everything about it works as well as (or better than) I expected, and even the Graffitti writing gets easy very quickly. I'm coming off of about 8 years of using Sharp organizers (first a 64K model, most recently a 256K OZ) and I have to say the Visor beats them to death, even for a keyboard-oriented soul like me. Advice: buy a good case (I got the distressed leather and am very happy) and the stylus 5-pack. It's great to have a stylus handy by my computer at home and at work.

Summary: my first..
Review: my first... since this is the first time for me to own a pda, i was quite excited to open it up and try it out. here are my observations: color: there are many colors to choose from, orange, blue, green, ice and graphite. I would stick to graphite as the rest make the pda look like its made of soft plastic and be confused with being a toy like a game boy. feel: I was expecting the visor to be a lot bigger and was quite surprised that it fit in the palm of my hand. it seems to be a little heavy to put in your shirt pocket but it fits perfectly in the front pants pocket. durability: the visor does not have the sturdiness look of a mobile phone or an electronic organizer(especially if you were to get one of the colored ones) i got to test its breakage accidentally as i got out of the car, the visor fell from my pocket and hit the pavement. the cover separated from the pda. when i looked it over, there where no obvious damages. pretty sturdy, it seems. features: stylus: my friend who owns a palm pilot tried it out and he says the stylus has a better feel on the screen. cradle: unfortunately, my pc does not have a usb slot to be able to use the cradle. It indicated in the manual that if i required a serial cradle, it didn't come with it and i could just purchase it at handspring.com . i would have expected at least a choice on which to buy especially since the manufacturers assume your pc comes with a usb slot. i thus now have no way of testing the cradle and loading other programs. this seems to be the downside of the cradle connection and leaves me with 2 choices. either buy another cradle or bring my pc and have a usb slot attached. features: it has a lot more programs than an organizer. what impressed me was the memo pad as i have a tendency to take down notes and ideas when i am reading but i misplace my notes frequently. the visor gives you three choices on how to write. the first is the grafitti which took me a while to master. the letters and the numbers were explained how to do but the other characters such as punctuation were not. the 2nd was the punching in of characters using an onboard screen keyboard. the last was a separate keyboard. i also like the address book feature where you can segregate contacts according to personal, business, etc. theres a to do list, calculator, datebook(two of them, wonder why) expense list, etc. all in all a complete package. my only complaint seem to be the registration of my time zone. the only asian countries on the list are japan and hongkong which i find kind of silly since they should have at least either put all the countries or put in a function that allows you to type in your home base. my friend had a palm pilot IIIe(the colored one) and we were zapping each other using the infrared functionality. i was amazed that i am able to send info also to a mobile phone and vice versa. all in all, it is a must have gadget.

Summary: Visor - magic from the Palm of your Hand.
Review: Following in the path blazed by the PalmPilots this "clone" doesn't only do a good job, it does a better. Like the PalmPilot Handsprings Visor uses the PalmOS, this is a good thing(tm). There is a huge array of different software avalible for this OS, anything specific you want, chances are someone already made it for PalmOS. This is why you get the "Deluxe" model - you need every Mb of memory you can get your hands on with this much software to download. The visor does what you can expect from a PDA with regard to speed, screen quality, stylus controll etc. Also, you get something extra - the possibility to use Handspring Modules. This is hardware cartridges that you plug in at the back of the Visor in order to get more power/functions out of your PDA. Examples are cameras, mp3 players, modems. The only two drawbacks of the Visor are - It doesn't recharge its batteries when it is docked. - You can't change the OS (ie it cannot be upgraded, only updated with extra patches"). If you need/want a PDA then the Visor is most likely for you, but make sure you pay up for the extra meggs of memory - it is worth it.
