Summary: I love my Handspring Visor!
Review: It goes with me everywhere. I use it constantly, but it is only as valuable as the software that runs on it and as effective as the PC it sync's with.

1) Sync's with PC. Syncing makes the basics possible -- e-mail (don't use much), contacts and calendar. I use the contacts and calendar constantly, so this is a high priority. Syncing is also good to prevent data loss and to be able to use the information on PC and Visor.

2) Books. I can carry 10 books with me in a tiny form factor. I love it! I can read while waiting in line at the Post Office, on the airplane, etc. I have a DOC and TXT to Palm converter so I can read almost anything. Plus it's backlit so I can read in bed without waking up my husband by turning on the light.

3) Games. OK, so it isn't the highest quality resolution, but what do you really need to play Yahtzee, solitaire, mah jongg, etc. It's like the dawn of Macs all over again! It takes me back 15 years.

4) Other apps. I balance my checkbook on my Visor. I manage my diet and exercise through a calorie tracking program. My Visor remembers my passwords for me. It tells me how much to tip and how to divide the check between 12 people. I carry pictures of my loved ones on it, and they will never wear out or tear like real photos. I jot quick notes on the screen with DiddleBug and set an alarm so I remember to read the note later. I search for addresses on my Visor instead of using paper maps with tiny incoherent writing. When I find businesses, movie theaters, restaurants, etc., I can mark them for easy access later.

5) Avant Go. Even without wireless access, I can still read daily news, stock prices, sports, weather, etc. through Yahoo. I can also read hundreds of online pubs -- I prefer The Onion.

6) Unrealized potential. I COULD plug in modules for my Visor. But I don't. I'm jonsing for the VisorPhone, but it isn't available in my area yet. What could be better than having all the contact info in my Visor also be available at a stylus tap to make a call? Everyone has an earpiece for the phone these days anyway, so the user experience is the same. Plus I could ditch that cell phone and streamline my connection gadgets. I want an MP3 player module, but the right combo of features and memory formats hasn't shown up yet.

Summary: ok, but
Review: the unit works fine, the touch screen, seems not to be that responsive. if you have a via chipset in your computer. you might have to delete the drivers/controllers and re-install espectially in win 2000. i have found the os3.1 to be a problem already since the latest pix stuff uses 3.5. tech support was helpful, but i figured out the chipset problem. construction is so so, the wireless features require additional modem and expensive!!!!. by the time you upgrade with a springboard mod/ you can buy a new one. screen can scratch very easy

Summary: A great product...
Review: But I wish I had waited a couple of months before buying mine. Shortly after purchase, Handspring came out with their Platinum version that I would have purchased instead.

For the Visor Deluxe itself, I have no complaints at all. I prefer the Handspring over the Palm, mostly due to its expansion slot. They both run the same software, but I feel the functionality of the Handspring makes it a winner.

I also purchased a leather case that attaches to my belt ... so I don't have to worry about it taking up space in my already overcrowded pockets.

Summary: Habdspring Visor Deluxe - Powerful and inexpensive
Review: This PDA is a great bargain. If you dont need color, this is the one for you. It is amazingly easy to learn and has performed flawless between "Hotsyncs" with my home and office PC. It is a great timesaver.

Summary: Wow! I am impressed!
Review: I have never owned a palm pilot, but ever since they came out I wanted one. I love tech toys and this was at the top of my list. I did my research about palm pilots and I decided that I wanted to buy a Handspring Visor Deluxe. I have a Mac and Handspring is the only palm company that is FULLY Mac compatible. I bought my Visor 2 weeks ago from Amazon and I am glad I did. It came fast and it is so easy to use. If you are a neat freak like me, you will love this product. Way to go Handspring.

Summary: A Always In Use Tool
Review: I recently purchased a Handspring Visor Deluxe and fell in love with it as soon as I took ot out of the box. The HotSync program is perfect for the synchronization. My friends have Palms but I love the Visor because of the Springboard Expantion Slot. I have yet to purchase a module, but I am looking into one. This is a MUST HAVE for students! I recomend this to anyone who can afford it! It's affordable, and it has a HUGE 8megs for all your needs.

Don't get a Palm or a Pocket PC, Get a Visor Deluxe!

Summary: Only a little disappointed
Review: Several months ago I bought my Handspring Visor after several years as a hardcore Franklin Planner user, and have been generally pleased with it. I use the calendar and phone book functions religiously and do not have any complaints with those functions. I have only briefly experimented with a couple of the downloadable programs which are available, and due to their lack of functionality in my life, I'm indifferent to them.

My disappointment stems from the fact that I paid ..for it and two months later the Edge came out and they dropped the price of the Visor. Additionally, I find the stylus a little difficult to use at times. I assume I would experience this problem with all PDA's.

If I hadn't paid so much for it I'd probably go back to my Franklin Planner. If you're a tech junkie, buy the Edge. If you want a decent PDA without spending too much money, buy the Visor.

Summary: Very good, but... I ended up selling it!
Review: I have to say I come from the world of Windows CE, so the Handspring Visor Deluxe was my first attempt at a Palm-OS operated PDA. My decision to buy it was mainly due to the following reasons: 1) Its price. It was the cheapest selling PDA where I found enough memory 8MB for most of my needs. 2) The fact that it had a USB cradle. Equivalent Palm PDAs came with a Serial cradle, which take forever to synchronize, the USB cradle being optional (for additional [money]). 3) Yes... I have to admit thatI thought it looked cool! ;)

However I became majorly dissapointed when I realized two things: the Palm OS crashed at least 4 times on me over the course of only two months. With Windows CE, I never saw this happen.

Second and most important, there is NO sychronizing application (neither the one that comes with the Visor, nor any other third party solution) that does a very simple thing: allow what I like to call a differential sychronization. What this is, is the ability to synchronize ONLY those events, or contacts, or e-mails, etc. that have changed or are new. With any software for synchronizing your Visio (or any Palm, as a matter of fact) to your Outlook, or any other e-mail/contacts/calendar/etc. program you use, you have to wait until ALL the items you have in both sides synchronize, as if it were the very first time you're doing it.

As you may realize this is very ineffective, specially if you're on the run, or have too many items to synchronize.

This is mainly why I recently sold it, and I am on my way back to getting a Pocket PC (formerly known as Windows CE) PDA. Only reco about Pocket PCs: stay away from Casio...

I will try to drop a word or two about this in a review about their Cassiopeia E-100.

Summary: A Must Have!
Review: I received my Handspring Visor Deluxe today and it is so easy to use. I have already memorized the Graffiti. Hotsyncing is also really easy and extremely fast! Get it NOW. You won't regret it. It is a great deal. The slim leather case is normally around $25. You can't get much better than that. Some people say the slim leather case makes it look bulky. It is not bulky at all to me. If you want to see bulky, take a look at the oldest laptop there is. It is the best. You name it, it can probably do it. This is a great product especially if you want to be organized. Great job Handspring!
