Summary: Palm -One more time
Review: The Tungsten T is the 4th Palm I have purchased. Each of the earlier versions clearly had problems in design. This unit has all the features that I need. The color screen is great. I hate to admit that my eyes are the real problem, but this screen makes my eyes alot better. The match to my blue tooth phone is really cool. On the road the last this I need to do when driving down the road is read a telephone numder and enter it into my cell phone. To hit one button and have the palm dail the phone-is nice. The one finger operation of the Palm is a delight. I have spent alot of money to get the right unit---this is it. GLS

Summary: A big upgrade
Review: I upgraded to the Tungsten after reading an unpublished book on the subject of PDAs for medical professionals (which I won't plug here, just know that it's coming in a few months, I work for the publisher). I sort of thought the author of that book was exaggerating the difference that a color screen and more memory can make, but he wasn't. My God, what a change! I went from a glorified date book/address manager to a miniature laptop. I can even go on vacation now and bring Word documents with me to do a little judicious work in the car as I ride... record memos... balance my checkbook... it's wondrous! I am now contemplating buying a fold-up keyboard so I can do even more with it during what used to be dead time. I may well write that novel I've been thinking about. It's fantastic.

And the best part about it is, it's rechargeable so no more sudden, frantic searches for good batteries before I lose all data forever (or at least till I hotsync).

Summary: Best Palm yet
Review: Have really enjoyed using my Tungsten T (quite an upgrade from my Palm IIIxe). I like it's size and features, my only gripe is that it doesn't have the jog dial that the Clie's have (probably proprietary) and it's a tad on the thick end for a PDAs. I have had to soft reset it a number of times (more often than my old Palm) but it's speed and colour clarity is simply amazing. The digital voice recorder works very well, have been able to easily convert the .wav files into audio cd format, very handy.

Overall, a great unit, very pocketable, sturdy, with input applications like jot/newpen, there's no need to extend the unit to access the grafiti section. Highly recommended.

Summary: Incredible, Indispensable, and Nearly Indestructible!
Review: I used a Palm IIIc a couple of years ago for a few short months, and then sold it because it was too slow and too bulky. After reading the reviews of the Tungsten T, I decided to give a Palm one more try. I am glad I did!

I have never seen a Palm so incredibly fast. Up to this point most Palms had a much slower processor from Motorola, but the Tungsten series boasts a new, blazing processor from Texas Instruments. There is no more waiting on screens to appear, and the speed of synchronization is lightening fast.

This Palm is now light enough and small enough to be carried on belt with an appropriate sized case (there are many different styles online). Previously I couldn't justify having the Palm because I had to keep it in my briefcase. Now I have it with me even when my briefcase isn't. It's becoming more and more indispensable for my daily routine. Nothing beats it to have information handy when someone asks about an appointment or is concerned about a schedule conflict. It is also a great help for writing down brief notes of things that need to be done later.

I am also impressed with the sturdy construction of this particular Palm. Last week I was talking with my wife in our hardwood floor kitchen, and fumbled the thing after having removed it from my belt case. The stylus and memory card blank spilled across the floor, but there was no damage done to the unit itself. I certainly wouldn't try running over it with a truck, but the point is that this Palm can take some abuse and still stay intact.

I believe I'm hooked. I have one sync cradle here at home, and one at work. I have no problems keeping both PC coordinated with the two PCs. I do recommend the use of the Palm Desktop software rather than trying to sync with Outlook. The Outlook sync works fine, but it is much slower and more cumbersome than the Palm Desktop. The Palm Desktop is designed especially for the Palm, and I have no problems using it alone for all of my scheduling, contact, task list, and note-taking needs.

For anyone wanting a compact, sturdy and capable Palm, this one is the one to purchase. I checked the other Palm models now available, and this one was my favorite. Try it and see for yourself!

Summary: Outstanding machine
Review: Wow...this thing does so much!! Software included has Word, Excel and Powerpoint programs that are excellent. The Bluetooth function is terrific...though don't get this to surf the web. It's best for e-mail and Hot-Sync transfers. The screen is great. Definitely worth the entrance fee. **The best case is from Franklin Covey. It holds the TT by the same notches used for the screen protector.

Shipped it back for repair, and a week after repair it started the same problem.

Summary: Goodbye iPAQ, Hello Tungsten T!
Review: I have to admit that I was an early Palm user who defected to Pocket PC because of the (supposedly) enhanced flexibility of the operating system. But, after recently plunking down $700 for an iPAQ 5455, I learned that slowness and freezing do not equal flexibility. After resetting the iPAQ for about the tenth time one day, I had had enough. I returned the 5455 thinking that I would opt for the HP 1910, but when I actually picked up the TT and played with it for a bit, it brought back fond memories of the days when I could enter data with absolute certainty that I would get it back on demand. I decided that peace of mind is part of what I was actually buying in a PDA, and that Pocket PC is not there yet, for me at least. I bought the TT and I absolutely love it. Pocketing the extra $350 from the iPAQ's return has not hurt either. The TT's form factor is Palm's best yet, very substantial and solid despite the relatively small size. I was dubious about the slider-mechanism, but it is also very solid, with no rocking or twisting. Spend some time with the manual and you will find that Palm has built in many ways to navigate without having to open the slider, which are useful when you are driving etc. The Navigation Control is well-designed. The bundled apps are good for business types, partcicularly Docs to Go. I also tried the Beyond Contacts Program from Data-Viz, and I recommend it as well if you are an Outlook user. You'll get seamless interface with Outlook Mail, and the ability to actually edit MS docs that even Pocket Word does not allow. You also get a version of the "Today" screen that is a nice Pocket PC utility. The voice recorder is a nice feature, overdue on Palms, and the the ability to use Audible for audio books and, of course, Palm Reader, are added bonuses.

I also love the screen, which is relective and backlit, very bright and readable indoors or out. I have seen the Zire71 and Tungsten C's transreflective screens and they are even better, but the TT's is as good as the Sony Clie's and that is a real feat for Palm, as anyone who remembers the disastrous M505's screen can tell you.The new OS-5 fonts are sharper, owing to the 320x320 display. The TT makes good use of the Texas Instruments 1510 processor, responding crisply to all commands, without freezing. After watching the iPAQ's little color wheel spin over and over while I waited for a program to load, the Tungsten was almost startlingly fast.

In short, if you want a reliable, quick, solid, and useful PDA, with the peace of mind that is missing with Pocket PCs, look no further than the Tungsten T. Great job Palm!!

Summary: Awesome beauty!
Review: Germans know how to build great cars, well Palm just built an Awesome PDA with their Tungsten T.
It is powerful and small. I find it to be very easy to carry around and all the functionality provided is right on the money. This PDA is the best on the market in my opinion. If you have an old palm the price you get at Amazon.com is great but why not add the $$$ rebate you get when you mail in your old Palm PDA? Its a limited time offer so you have to act fast.

Summary: Am enjoying my Tungsten T
Review: I just bought the Tungsten T after my Handspring Visor Pro died. Looked at Sony Clies and Palm Zire 71, but the Tungsten T had the features that I wanted. Didn't need a camera or a built-in keyboard, and didn't want to learn a new version of graffiti. Was able to easily transfer my programs and data from the Visor to the Tungsten with only a couple of glitches, quickly fixed. Very compact and very fast. Screen is quite bright. No problems with syncing. Am enjoying it a lot.
