Rating: Summary: Small screen! Review: My parents bought me this for my birthday, and I returned it within a week and bought a Visor Deluxe. Why? The only real difference is the screen on the M105 (and M100), which is noticeably smaller. With a monochrome screen to begin with, and the built-in difficulty of pointing and clicking on a Palm device, size matters. I'd recommend buying a Visor Deluxe, which is a better buy for the money in this price range, and has better expandability. I love my Visor! If you want to trade up, consider the Palm Vx, which my dad has. It's basically the same thing in a super-slim package with a rechargeable lithium battery, but it's costlier. I also have a friend who is very happy with his snazzy new m505, but in that price range I think a PocketPC might make more sense.
Rating: Summary: Dont usually write these things... Review: Good: the Price, the support that comes with it (palm has always been know for having good support), the Palm OS, 8 mb of ram (that is plenty good for most people), the buttons (for playing Zap!2000 and others), higher quality screen, clock thingy, and face plates Bad: small screen (although the screen is the highest quality palm has out -yes even better than the m500- it is smaller so its one of those quality or quantity things...), no expense app, and palm doesn't make much STUFF for it (they have the keyboard and camera but that's it. they don't even make a modem for the m10x handhelds, sure other companies make them but still...) I wrote this in reply to a review i saw from a 12 year old kid form Philly. He said something about the m105 package not coming the syncing software... what in the world is this boy smoking. Of course it comes with palm's famous HotSync software for the palm, that's one of the main reasons a Palm Handheld is a Palm. The m105 is a good solid handheld. Palm picked this guy to replace the IIIxe for a reason. With that said, if you want to spend the money get the Palm Vx, and if you have money to waste might want to take a look at the Palm m505. But if you are looking at the m105 (for the price as your main reason) you might want to look at Handspring's Visor Deluxe. It has a bigger screen (but it is a low quality screen, it uses the Palm IIIxe screen and the Palm m105 is the replacement to the IIIxe- so just think about as a step lower than the m105 screen wise) and the spring board expansion everyone talks about (but i don't think its that big of a deal...) Final word: the m105 is a good solid handheld for the money.
Rating: Summary: not intuitive Review: ok for the "gadget smart" younger set, but if you have trouble remembering how to do something twice in a row, this is not intuitive enough. Yes, Im from Palm Beach County, Florida, and yes I was able to use the butterfly ballot with no problem. If your are somewhere between gadget smart and unable to vote, consider sticking with windows operating system gadgets, if you have managed to master that
Rating: Summary: Best Low-Power Handheld on the Market Review: This is definately the best PDA available to students and other individuals who don't need all the bells and whistles expensive handhelds have. It is small, has a good battery life, backlight, Palm OS (with all the standard programs plus Notepad, a drawing program to jot down notes in a hurry), and is backed by Palm, Inc.'s solid, live 24/7, free internet chat support. It also has the handy window on its flip cover to display the time in at the touch of a button, even when the Palm is off. I dalso definately recommend the PalmGlove protective case and the StoAway Folding Keyboard.
Rating: Summary: Best $200 I ever spent! Review: Well, on computer accessory, anyway. I almost bought the m100 to save a little money, but as quickly as I'm adding info to this thing, I'm glad I splurged for the extra memory. This is so much more useful than any pen and paper method I've tried for organizing my life. Finding a good case for this new shape, though, was a bit of a challenge. It didn't help any that I despise Velcro, which most of the cases use to secure the Palm m100 series. But as I also love my pen & ink, I hit on an excellent compromise. I found a smallish zippered DayRunner that, once the paper calendar is removed, provides just enough room for the Palm (with the cover still on, at that), a pocket for notepaper, two pen loops, credit card slots, and a zippered pocket that is great for tickets and receipts and the like. It even has an external pocket for my phone. And the whole thing still weighs but a small fraction of what my old leatherbound paper calendar folio did. My only real complaint is not with the m105 itself, but with the HotSync cradle design, which seems purposely designed not to work with my husband's Palm III. Switching to a USB HotSync cable for my m105 then rendered *his* cradle inoperative. Fortunately, the cable will work with his Palm III, even though it also was not designed to do so. If that didn't work, we'd be completely out of luck, and I would be one extremely unhappy customer. By the way, if you get a Palm of any kind, install the AvantGo program. Even if you don't have wireless service, you'll be amazed at the increased use you get out of your handheld by syncing to your favorite websites. It's so nice to never be bored. Stuck in a line somewhere, waiting at the doctor's office, whatever...I can just pull out my Palm and read CNN or Le Monde or HandHeld Crime or whatever else I've told it to download that morning.
Rating: Summary: Palm vs. Visor Review: I'm a normal ... teenager-with a very busy life. I was given a palm m105 for my birthday. That was about 3 weeks ago.I've noticed that my life is a lot easier now that i have a palm pilot. I even bought a cd-rom with 100 + games on it, so now when i get bored i play games on my palm. The screen isn't that small. And its wonderful that it came w/ a hot sync cradle. If your trying to choce between a visor and a palm chose palm. i've already done the research-PALM IS BETTER!!!
Rating: Summary: Acceptable Review: Bought it to replace my Palm III. Screen is smaller which is a hassle. I like the flip cover and the improved contrastability over the III. Still would like to see a bigger screen. The Handspring with 8 meg is a better buy since it gives you expandabilty and a bigger screen
Rating: Summary: this thing is great! Review: HI all...I bought my m105 about 5 months ago and it is one of the best buys I have ever made... I didn't know much about this whole PDA business at all, but when I lost my paper organizer - well I knew it was time... I use it to keep track of my schedule, I set alarms for meetings, dates, yada yada... I have downloaded a program that makes the alarm REALLY loud... enough to wake me up...I use Avantgo to get some reading material for city travel...I have downloaded a program that expands the usability of my memopad and the clipboard...I use it to do all of my research with the palm keyboard...I also use Vindigo to get around town ..I love how it has a window which can show you the time at the push of a button... I don't wear a watch anymore...for anyone looking for a better organizing tool the m105 is it great for price...two reasons it doesn't get a perfect score -----> 1. the screen is a bit small so it is not very likey you will be able to tap with fingers ( unless you have small hands or long nails I guess ) and it is a bit hard on the eyes sometimes ( but then again I have sensitive eyes and wear glasses - use your judgement ) ---2. after only a few months the mechanizm holding the cover/flap to the main chasis is coming loose and will need to get replaced...Final words -- try it out and if it doesn't meet your requirements return it ... .....AMAZON ROCKS !!!!!
Rating: Summary: All the functionality of a PDA Review: The M105 has definitely been the pacesetter in this price range of PDA. Mine has been trustworthy for over a year now. Addresses, phone numbers, short notes are a snap. The beam function is convenient for swapping addresses with other PDA users. It is solid and has a pretty robust design. You won't want much more if all you need are the basic functions of a PDA. Looking beyond Palm to visor though, the comparable Visor model comes with a larger screen, sleeker design and a variety of expansion options. I would go for the visor now but the M100 is still a good buy.
Rating: Summary: Comments about the Palm Pilot Review: This is an excellent product. It is the correct price but I think they should have more of them.
