Rating: Summary: Great for starters Review: This is a great PDA for anyone starting out in the world of PDAs. The screen is a little small, but also very sharp. Including the additional software was a great step for Palm including MailSync and the Mobile Internet Kit. The only problems I find with it are the lack of accessories like modems and the OS is not upgradable. This is not a big problem for me but those of you who really care might consider the IIIxe.
Rating: Summary: Great Palm for techno buffs with limited funds Review: I've been wanting a PDA for quite a while now, and decided to finally plunk down the money when the m105 came out. At $199 and 8 mb, it fits my finances and my lifestyle needs. Personally, I need a PDA for typical, everyday scheduling, address book, memos and games. The PDA is very user friendly, I barely browsed the user manual and was able to get the hang of it in no time. The m105 comes with a HotSync cradle that allows you to "sync" your PDA with your PC, so for instance, whatever you type into your PDA (or vice versa) can be transferred into your PC with the touch of a button. Very easy to do, and quite helpful too. (You always have a back up.) You can get tons of downloadable games and programs on the Internet for your m105, for free or for very little cost. I have already downloaded games, travel programs and a Spanish dictionary, and have plenty of memory left. There is also a "notepad" function, which is similiar to Post It notes, you just scribble your note onto the screen and when you pull it up again, there your note is. Well worth the money if you are interested in a basic PDA.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL!!! Review: This is my first palm pilot, or any hand-held item that i've purchased. Not only is it very cool looking, it's small enough to fit in my pocket, making it more convienient than carrying pieces of paper around with different information, on each free-space. My gratefullness in this product is the ability to utilize Excel workbooks on the screen. This is amazing... I don't care what some of the others say... I've got the coolest toy at work now!
Rating: Summary: Upgrade from Handspring Visor to Palm m105 Review: The Palm m105 is a great product, and an excellent deal for anyone wanting more than 2MB in a handheld. I upgraded from a Handspring Visor, and while the Visor's Date Book Plus feature was a nice feature, overall I'm very pleased with the m105. It has tons of memory, and the smaller screen is by no means unreadable, and it actually makes the images on the Palm look sharper. It fits well in your hand, and the Clock feature is really a nice addition, while the plastic (more break resistant) casing makes the Palm m105 so light, you hardly know you have it on you. However, I would definately recommend downloading the newer version of Palm Desktop (free) from Palm. And the fact that you can't upgrade the OS is a little odd, but not an enormous burden given the relatively static nature of the Palm OS. It's much less like a CPU with Windows 3.1 than one with Windows 95--and we haven't seen that change dramatically since, well, 1995.
Rating: Summary: Well..... Review: M105. when i first so this i thought, "whoa! Another Palm!" the only thing that has improved since the M100 is that the 105 has 8MB instead of 2MB. And it has a smaller screen. And it's quite a bit slower. And, well, it's worse...
Rating: Summary: Dissapointed... Review: Sorry to say it but I am very dissapointed in this product. After owning the Palm Vx,Palm m105, Sharp OZ-750, Cybiko, and many other PDA's I liked the Vx the most because of the organization it gives you(which has helped me in school recently). With 8MB *UPGRADEABLE* Memory allows you to store all your contacts, memos, schedules and more PLUS lots and lots of add-on software to expand the capabilities of the handheld. The Palm m105 has some good and bad first off it is customizable with faceplates and all that but really... for a piece of plastic??? The Palm m105 comes with 8MB which should be the least a Palm should have and the m105's memory is not upgradeable so don't expect lots of add on software, 2nd of all the screen is so tiny compared to the Vx and can barely read it under sunlight,3rd the Palm OS that the m105 comes with can not be upgraded!? So what's the point of getting it. Last of all it doesn't come with Palm Desktop software!!! If you are expecting a really great PDA go for the Vx if you are a starter get the m100 which at least you can update the OS and plus it comes with the Palm Desktop software. I agree with the other reviewer this IS a step backward for Palm...
Rating: Summary: m105 is a step backward - Get the IIIxe or the Vx ($$) Review: Palm Pilots in general are great things, but the Palm m105 (the whole m series, in fact) is a huge disapointment. As the Amazon review says, the OS isn't upgradeable -- a major flaw, imagine buying a PC with Windows 3.1 and never being able to change it! -- and the screen is too small for my taste. The good thing is that Palm put a decent amount of memory (8 megs) in this model. If you get one of the 2 meg models you may as well get a basic $50 electronic address book from Radio Shack. 8 megs should be the absolute MINIMUM amount of memory in a handheld PC. I'd really like to see Palm begin offering models with 16 or 32 megs of RAM like, dare I say it, PocketPCs. The best Palm model out there is the Vx (it is even better with an OmniSky modem) but it is way too expensive. The next best choice is the IIIxe (which I hear they've stopped producing, so grab one now) which has all top of the line features except it doesn't have the internal rechargeable battery and it is bigger.
Rating: Summary: A step backward Review: The processor is the same, the OS is the same (but now nonupgradeable), the size is a little smaller, but the screen is much smaller (25%?) and noticeably harder to read, all for the same price as an outgoing Palm IIIxe or Handspring Visor Deluxe (after rebate). Not much of an improvement, me thinks.
Rating: Summary: Palm m105 - a great 1st PDA! Review: All in all, I'm very satisfied with the m105. Sometimes I still turn it on just to look at the single-screen schedule/to-do list and just say, "Wow." It's the little things that impress us most, and the m105 has lots of little things. Although my life wasn't that busy, and I had most of my appointments/phone numbers either in my head or in my PC, I found the latest Palm product, the m105, surprisingly useful. To make a long story short, I bought it because I wanted a neat device that might come in handy sometime. And it came in very hany indeed! One of its many hidden joys is the option to view daily appointments and the to-do list on a single page. That alone has me overjoyed. I probably turn the Palm on a dozen times every day, and most of the time, I can get all the information I need off that single screen. This Palm really deserves 4 1/2 stars. Compared it to my friend's brand-new Palm Vx,it's has the same level of functionality for my money. I'm not really sure why anyone would feel the need to spend so much more money to get what amounts to additional glamour. Built-in features? Everything you could need. Appointments, notes, to-do list, calculator. I love the AvantGo software that comes bundled with the Palm, too. Also 8mb of memory quite enough! The m105 has more than enough memory to deal with the rigors of organizing someone's life. The bottom line is that this little gadget is a lifesaver. I use Microsoft Outlook to manage my e-mail, contacts, datebook and to-do lists. But, I found that to be useful only when I was sitting in front of my computer - if I was out of the house I couldn't ever remember what I needed to do, where I needed to be or anyone's phone number. Now, I just plug a cable into my Palm m105, push a button and all of my data is on a mini computer that fits in my shirt pocket. Try it yourself!
Rating: Summary: The m100 is cool Review: The palm platform is the most viable OS. The palm platform tried to cater budget users with the palm m100. It was cheap, and it looked cool. However, a big drawback is that the screen is smaller. Also, the screen is plastic; that is not good for some reasons, but a big reason that is good is because the palm is harder to break. A lot of users ahve complained that the glass screen of the III series can be easily broken. There are some good things about the m series; please refer to the editorial review for that, as it is already well described there. Basically, but the m105 if screen size is not too important for you. Otherwise, buy the Palm IIIxe, which has similar specs and is the same price; the screen size is bigger.
