Summary: I wore it out after 4 months of use.
Review: Plus side: if you want something simple this is the PDA for you.

Minus side: if you use PDAs as a lifeline as I did, find another model. This model wore out after a few months where I changed the batteries and all I kept getting was the "touch center of target screen" After I called tech support, they wanted me to pay $75 to fix it. I might as well get a new Palm pilot (I got this one as a gift), so I'm shopping for a new one. The only lifesaver was that I saved my files before it went bad!

Summary: Nice while it lasts...THEN the wheels fall off.
Review: Granted...i bought a refurbished unit, and it worked wonderfully for a while, but it WILL develope the dredded 'lose data on battery change' problem. Disappointing. Hot sync before you change, and then after to restore data. I really wish someone would come up with *THE* fix, as i can handle SMT componants, and this spoils an otherwise great little PDA.

Summary: Don't get this if you desire to keep your files!
Review: This was a nice unit for 12 months until the internal capacitor blew. This causes annoying data resynching for every battery change going forward. Several of my co-workers had bought this at my suggestion, and now have teh same problems. Two months later and now my digitizer seems to have bit the dust. I've reached my limit, I'd suggest a slightly more expensive unit with a larger screen and its own internal batteries.

Summary: Best Mono-Chrome pda
Review: First off, Id like to say that Ive had this pda for over three years. Ive continuosly used it since I had gotten mine,(i won mine)and Ive never had a problem with it. Ive dropped it, kicked it, I have even stepped on it!(None of these on purpose) It doesnt have a scracth. And it seems like theres unlimited memory. Ive never had to delete any thing for extra memory, and 8mb may not sound like much, but it is! And there are superior graphics on this handheld. Even though it isnt color. Such a bargain too! The only problem is that if your batterys die or fall out, your memory is reset, deleting all files!!!
I rate this great for anyone with a cash limit- otherwise go for the Palm m130!!!

Pros: Lots o' Memory, Great graphics, very durable

Cons: If batterys fall out, all files are lost =(

Summary: A good workhorse PDA
Review: First of all let me say that I have really enjoyed using the m105. The 8 megs of memory make it a tad slow but sufficient for my needs which is for a PDA. For the price it was hard to go wrong. I work in an environment where I cannot carry cameras or recorders or video or mp3 etc. so a basic PDA is not only all I need but all I am allowed to have. Personally, I have found the data entry system using the Graffiti writing area to be intuitive and easy to use unlike some other users. The main complaint I have is that after exactly one year of use it started hanging sometimes during the day. I can reset it at home but it is useless at work after it hangs. This is unacceptable as I use it extensively. Second, I do wish it had access to the expense report feature without upgrading the software for [money amount]. Finally, 16 megs of memory would be great just for enhanced speed. I also hope Palm and the other vendors will continue to provide some basic PDAs like the m105. Not everybody has a need for bluetooth and internet connectivity and for some it may be verboten. I can take or leave the color screen but if a color screen is going to reduce the life of the battery as much as it evidently does then they can keep it.

Summary: Couldn't Live without My Palm
Review: I have used a Palm 105 since they first came out and can't imagine life without it. I travel some, so I really like having only to replace 2 AAA batteries every 4 to 6 weeks (even w/ heavy use) instead of lugging around & keeping track of a cradle. The monochrome screen is fine, since for what most people use their PDA, the addition of color is just "mind candy" and shortens battery life by over 75%. The ease of use & syncing with a desktop or notebook is quite surprising. And the ability to keep separate multiple PDA's on the same computer boggles the mind. I have just about worn out my fourth Palm and am starting to look for a replacement. I hope Palm does not neglect the basic monochrome, not-wireless connected, AAA-cell powered handhelds. Even people that buy the fancier color, wireless connected models with built-in hydride features, and only batteries rarely make use of the additional curdse the shgort battery life if they are a heavy user of the PDA.

Summary: M105-many problems
Review: I have had many problems with the pda from Palm. The first problem was when I changed batteries; you are supposed to have one minute before you lose data. I had the batteries changed in less than 20 seconds and lost everything. Unfortunately, I had no backup as I had just purchased a new computer and the old one was sold. The other problems were the date; it would not keep the present date. It kept going back to Jan 2000. Also, it was hard to type on as the letters were not the ones that I struck. I am not happy with this product.

Summary: Solid Performer
Review: I've had my m105 for about a year and am still very happy with it. I haven't had any problems with syncing, losing data, or the Palm freezing up on me as others have reported.

I use mine for basic functions like the address book, calendar and note pad. I have also downloaded some financial software for it that I'm very happy with. I also use the Palm Desktop extinsively and have found it to be very easy to use, though I wish I could sync my Palm with Microsoft Outlook without buying new software and doing complicated setups. I don't use my m105 for internet acess or any of that fancy stuff, so I can't really speak to that.

It takes 2 AAA batteries, which has advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side, if your batteries are running low, you can get new ones anywhere. You don't have to remember to charge it up all the time. On the other hand, you do have to keep a supply of batteries around. If you're using a lot of high memory software, it will run through batteries pretty quickly. Using the basics, no games or anything, my batteries last for several months.

If you're looking for a basic, easy to use PDA, this is a good one. If you want a lot of bells and whistles, go with one that has a memory expansion card.
