Rating: Summary: HotSynch Failed with Outlook 2000 Review: Product is advertised as synching with Outlook. After a day on-line with customer support they were unable to resolve this problem, and I needed to return the product
Rating: Summary: great customer service Review: I bought my palm while in Brazil, dropped it off a ladder, called customer service, had a like-new reconditioned one and a paid-for return mailer in 24 hours. Back in the states I ran it over with my truck, (it still worked but had some screen trouble), called customer service and once again I got a like-new one in 24hrs. That one broke and because the original was more than a year old I had to pay $100 for the same great service once again.
Rating: Summary: A Property Manager's Buddy Review: We've been using our Palm V's in our duties as property Managers and have found it wonderfull, the PM Partner program that you load into the palm pilot allows us to write and store property condition reports and keep track of our proprties so much better than any manual system. When used in conjunction with the to do lists, scheduler, caclulator etc, it becomes a mobile office, handy when your job always sends you out on the road.
Rating: Summary: Beast organizer Ever-Mini Computer Review: Okay before I bought this expensive daddy I did my homework. I looked at all the reviews that people left. I got mixed feelings when i looked at what people said. Im a college student and really needed a good organizer. I went ahead and bought the Palm V. The instructions for getting this puppy started are great. I was up and running in no time. After about two months I discovered some cool software. Avantgo.com provided a internet type of tool. All you have to do is hot sync it up with your computer whenever you want the information updated. Avantgo has neat things like foxnews and foxsports and up to the minute stock reports. It's great for every person. I am really into hockey so I subrscirbe to Avant go's sporting news hockey and inthe crease hockey. Each time I sync up my Palm V it gives me the latest hockey news and stats. It's great. The only drawback to the Palm V is that the memory could be a little better. Buy the Palm Vx if you need more memory. If your just a college student like me though, it will be perfect for you. Also just like any other Palm V it is delicate. Be careful with it. This is an expensive toy. The Palm guys are great at answering questions on their home website. They keep answering and helping you until the problem is solved. Superfast communication with them. This is a great product. Hopefully I convinced you in some way. Thank you very much. Email me if you have any other questions Cechter54@hotmail.com
Rating: Summary: Lackluster Customer Support Review: I have found my Palm V to augment my daily life and help organize a very hectic schedule. However, the unit broke after three months and trying to get support is like pulling teeth. They do a good job of marketing and a lousy job of custmer satisfaction. Looks like I will take my business elsewhere in the future. I feel like I am dealing with a group of snake oil salesmen!
Rating: Summary: Good product, but very poor client support Review: I agree that Palm Pilot is a good product. It did help me have everything properly organized... while it lasted. I had a minor problem with it four months ago, and I have been completely unable to have it repaired. Client support numbers won't answer to phone or email requests. Technical support is just never available. I have not been able to use my palm pilot for over 4 months. The product might be good, but I do not think it is worth taking the risk of ending up using your old paper agenda.
Rating: Summary: downside for new macs? Review: I have been using the Palm III for a long time and then switched to the Palm V. This gadget is really the best. Except for one thing, I couldn't download my data to my new G3 Macs and Powerbook. Technicians say the G3's don't have a PC card to accomodate the Mac packs. I wonder why? What I do instead is download them in my old Powerbook 1400c. Nevertheless, it still is a great gadget! And I never leave home without it!
Rating: Summary: Best PDA is Palm V (or Vx?) Review: I am very pleased with my Palm V. It is small in size and big in features. In addition to the standard software that comes with the device, there are hundreds of different software options available for free (or small fee) at palm.com. I use my Palm-V for tracking business expenses, vehicle operation & maintenance, calendar/planner, calculator, address organizer, notes (can use Palm graffiti software that comes with it or Jot! software to write in your regular handwriting), Email, clock, games (chess, etc.), reading web downloads of Newspapers, maps, weather, etc. (via Avantgo! mobile sync available for free at avantgo ...yes, you don't need a Palm-VII ...this can all be done with a Palm-V. With a special GPS attachment it can be used with my bicycle to map routes/cue sheets. I am truly amazed at what such a small device is capable of doing! I am particularly impressed with how quickly it can "hot-sync" with my full-size computer to synchronize information with standard software on my full-size Windows-98 PC. Even with all my downloads, I haven't yet run out of space on my Palm-V, but I would consider purchasing a Palm-Vx instead which has more storage space for not much difference in price. What more can I say, if you are in the market for a palm-computing device, I highly recommend the Palm-V!
Rating: Summary: I am a Student and work in sales Review: What can I say... This is quite simplly the best organizer you can have. Forget carrying around a laptop. I can hold my class notes and keep them seperate from info on my customers at work. I have a freeware photo album that keeps pictures of my wife and child. I now can have a real carry around check book. The 2mb may sound small but really it does do quite well. I have lots of programs on mine and I have 40% free. Tip.. get at least the slim leather case... trust me the supplied flap is less than desirable. You will keep this with your keys. It goes everywhere with me and I never need to call 411 again. It is also nice to have a calculator at my fingure tips as well.. Currcalc is good since it has conversions. So to finalize,,, forget laptops, notes, phone book, planner, pics of my family, spreadsheets (freeware), calculator, and all in my pocket. Why anything else,,, and yes frogger is the only way to kill a half hour !
Rating: Summary: Small but great! Review: PalmV is very easy to use. I spent only a couple of days to fully utilize the machine. A lot of add-on programs you can download later on. It really reminds all my busy schedule. Very good for anyone who has lots of meetings. A little downside, once in a while I seem to have problem with very slow battery charging.
