Summary: All Business with a Little Fun on the Side!!!
Review: I used to carry a digital recorder, and a CLIE N760C; since I've gotten this wonderful device, I can't seem to live without it and I've lightened my pocket load!. It plays music (MP3), records my "voice" notes, and it synchronizes with my Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. I mean I carry this essential business toy everywhere. I even sleep with it.

Summary: Great Great PDA
Review: I was looking for an upgrade from my Handspring Visor Platinum, and had come into a few hundred dollars to spend. I was torn between the Sony and a PocketPC, but I decided that I wanted the Sony because of the built in keyboard. Boy, was I glad that I did that. It's quite possibly the best PDA ever. So many features in a nice package. I don't have the camera version (NX70V) cuz I already have a good digicam, so I didn't care about it.

Tho, I'd like to clear something up. Some people complain about not being able to use the memstick for mp3s without magic gate, but this is wrong. You can use any memstick. The trick is to not use the mp3 program that comes with the Clie. Just use the drivers that mount the Clie as a removable USB drive, and use Windows Media Player (or even Windows Explorer) to transfer the music. So easy.

I only wish that they would actually bring out a REAL 256MB memstick and not this stupid "switch between one 128 section (a-side) and another 128 section (b-side) a la audio tapes." I wonder if there's a technological impasse on the size that a memstick can be.

Summary: Great features for the money
Review: I've heard rumors that that Sony will soon be discontinuing this unit and just stick with the NX70v. That's too bad, because this unit is a great value if you don't want the digital camera. But the great news is that the price on these units will be dropping like a brick as retailers start to liquidate their stock. That's how I bought mine at CompUSA. Now for the review: Great unit. As a longtime Palm OS user I can say this unit is built with great quality. Give yourself a good weekend to get adjusted and transfer your data, MP3s, pics, to the memory stick, which is a must-have add-on. If you think you'll miss the camera, don't get this unit -- you'll just regret it. But if you don't care to take pictures with your PDA, this unit is for you. By the way, the keyboard is marginal, but better than any other built-in-PDA keyboard out there...but the dynamic "Silk-Screen" graffitti area is awesome.

Summary: An Excellent PDA
Review: If you know you want a Palm-based PDA, then this is the one. It's got a 200Mhz processor which makes it fast enough.
Also has a voice recorder which can be fun as well as useful (It's easier to record your own voice when driving than it is to type something into your pda)
With the memory stick media, you can play MP3s. You can fit anywhere from 20-40 songs (2-4 albums) on a 128MB memory stick.
Also cool is the attached keyboard.
Newer models in the Sony Clie NX line have attached digital cameras, although I didn't think that was necessary, since I already have a digital camera.
Overall, this is a highly recomended PDA!

Summary: Some thoughts with the NX60 as a Macintosh User
Review: IMPORTANT: You will need to puchase/download a program called 'The Missing Sync' [] before you can smoothly sync with Palm Desktop 4.0 for the Macintosh.

Once you do though, it syncs flawlessly with Palm Desktop, and can mount/transfer with the Memory Stick. One nice feature with the missing sync program is that it mounts the CLIE in iPhoto and iTunes when you select MSconnect (mounts the PDA on your computer, different than HotSync), so you can easily transfer your MP3s and photos to the CLIE. Under iPhoto, you just select the photos, and click on Export > Missing Sync and it's on the CLIE. For MP3s, I had a little difficulty getting the CLIE to recognize/play some tunes. It appears that it cannot handle MP3s encoded in VBR. Once I re-encoded my VBR songs to standard 128kbps, it worked.

Photo viewing is where the 200MHz ARM processor really shines. Although photos taken from my DSC-717 5 megapixel camera can take some time to load, when you zoom and pan/scroll the image (just tap and drag), there's less than a half second of lag time before it re-displays. When you move it in small increments, there's no noticeable lag. It can read Regular and MagicGate Memory Sticks.

Another area where the CLIE shines is in displaying large texts (such as a Bible). Using Palm Reader, you can run the text horizontally or vertically, which makes for a much more enjoyable reading experience than my old Palm Vx's tiny screen with the graffiti area taking up most of it. The large screen was a big plus for me, and there were no stuck/dead pixels or fade spots issues.

In terms of having the system crash, I have only needed to soft reset it once, when I was deleting some non-vital program from its 16mb internal storage, and it gave me an error that froze the PDA.

The CLIE keyboard takes some getting used to, especially since the keys are so small (what do you expect?). But what makes it difficult is the lack of a tactile feel to the buttons. You can feel them click, but they are stiff. The NZ90's keyboard is much more refined, but that's another beast altogether. Graffitti seems to have improved dramatically since the Palm Vx, as I only trip only the u's and v's now, instead of the seven to eight characters like before.

Lastly, probably the most suprising and pleasent feature of the CLIE for me (and there are a lot of features) is the ability to use it as a universal remote for my TV and VCR (panasonic brands).

I could go on and on but the bottom line is that this is a solid, fun and powerful PDA (or as Sony calls it - Personal Entertainment Organizer).

Review: Looking to replace my Handspring Visor Deluxe, I found myself trying to decide between the Tungsten T and the NX60. Like the previous reviewer said, the NX60 is being discontinued and great deals can be had. I also purchased mine at CompUSA.

What lead me to choose the NX60 over the Tungsten T was screen size, price and Sony's reputation for designing Palm OS units. The only thing that concerned me in choosing the Sony over the Palm was Sony's tarnished reputation for customer service that I've heard other people report about. Hopefully I won't need customer service.

I've only had my NX60 for a short time, but I'm enjoying it.

Summary: Sweet!
Review: My wife got this unit from work, so I had the luxury of playing with this without worrying about my pocket book. The darn thing has a 200MHz processor! The screen is crisp and clear, and we just marvelled at how clear the pictures are on this screen. Unlike my Palm m130, getting the Hot Sync to work on my USB interface for my Win2K laptop was no problem at all. One negative is that you absolutely need to buy a memory stick, as there is no way to take advantage of everything the Sony and Palm 5 allows without this. We were also slightly surprised with the size of the unit, but if you swivel the screen so that you don't use the keyboard it does fit into the palm. Strongly recommend this if you have the money.
