Rating: Summary: Great but 1 thing wrong Review: I receaved this product as a christmas gift and was very excited to get it ready and programed. The only thing after one day of use it was about 1/6 of the baterie life was gone. nevertheless I have down loaded many programs and it is great for me.
Rating: Summary: Has made my working life a whole lot simpler. Review: I spent a lot of time researching which hand held would be best for me. The Palm m125 I bought through Amazon.com is perfect and it was quite easy to learn to use. I have purchased some software (word to go) which integrated without any problems. Now my briefcase is relatively empty of folders full of needed information. My job: social worker on the go.
Rating: Summary: D Martin Review: Ok...I spent entirely too much time determining which Palm was right for me. I ended up purchasing the M125 (from Amazon) and don't regret the purchase. It's great carrying the Palm vs. my old Franklin Planner (a.k.a "male purse" ... as described by my wife). For those of you on the fence trying to determine whether you should by the M100, M125 or the higher end M500/505's here's what I considered... If you ABSOLUTELY only need the Palm for light use and don't care about additional memory or have an affinity for games, add-on's, etc...then purchase the M100/105. If that isn't the case, you'll pitch it or have given it away...because you will have run out of memory by the end of the year (and it isn't upgradeable). The M125 is great buy because you get much of the M500/505 functionality at a lesser price, plus you have the ability for the expansion card -- for more memory, games, etc. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that the meeting reminder "dings" pretty loud. So if you're in a meeting it can become annoying listening to the reminder (along with the cell phone, pagers, etc). I believe the 500/505 has a vibrating option. Also, the 500/505 have rechargeable batteries, so you don't have to keep replacing batteries -- there's pro's and con's on both, I suppose it depends whether you travel a lot. So, other than the "cooler" look, battery functionality and vibrating option that comes with the 500/505, for me...the M125 was a great a buy. Regarding the cradle...if you're on NT at work, get ready to purchase the serial cradle, since the USB won't work. On the upside, I use the USB cradle at home. Before you make a decision, be sure to check out Amazon's comparison table -- which enables you to line up each product that you're considering...it's extremely helpful. One note -- if you believe that you'll buy a lot of the Palm accessories, I would do it with your initial order. You'll save shipping $$, probably get a pretty competitive price and not have to pay sales tax (and no, I don't work for Amazon). Good luck!
Rating: Summary: Amazing technology but... Review: The Palm 125 works great and is an amazing piece of technology. So user friendly! I recommend it. However: 1) I first bought a M105 that was defective out of the box.(touch screen) Thankfully Amazon took it back. 2) The stylus on the M125 is a step backward in design. It is harder to get out than on the M105 and a true annoyance when my Palm is in the Hangdglove case. 3) The batteries are being used-up at a much higher rate than the literature suggested. (I do, however use the backlit screen a lot but this is because of #4) 4) The normal screen is often hard to read in low light. There are often low light situations where neither the regular screen nor the backlit screen are highly readable. 5) There are very few titles for the plug-in cards even though the M500 series Palms have been around for some time. (the cards are compatible.) Despite these things, I am very glad I bought it and have been using it so much that it annoys my family!
Rating: Summary: Busted less than a month after purchase! Review: I bought my Palm m125 less than a month ago. This was my first PDA and it really helped me organize my life, so I was all praises for it. Imagine my disappointment when my Palm just broke down on me today--just a scanty 22 days after purchase! My Palm is now useless; it no longer responds to the stylus or any of the buttons, and I can't even turn it off. Since I'm located in the Philippines, the only support I could get was a chat session with a tech rep. Otherwise I would need to call their Singapore office, and they're not open 24-7. The rep guided me through hard and warm restarts, but still no response from my Palm. In the end, she could do nothing but refer me to the Singapore number and tell me that I would probably have to ship the item to Singapore for repair (MY EXPENSE) after giving them a call (MY EXPENSE). They will send me a replacement unit to use while my unit is being replaced (MY EXPENSE). For what I paid for the Palm, the hassle it has put me through, and the expense of having it repaired, I'm now going to stick to a trusty manual organizer. Daytimer, welcome me back into your loving embrace!
Rating: Summary: I Think I Like It Review: I bought the Palm m125 a few days ago to replace my Palm IIIxe. I managed to fry the circuits with some water. The screen is smaller to me and I have changed the fonts to be as big as possible. I had had some hotsync problems with my previous unit, I even had to by a new cradle. The hotsync on this one worked like a charm. My biggest worry was whether I had a USB connection back there but I found it with no problem. I guess my misgivings stem from liking the IIIxe so much and it was my first. But, as they say, Change is Good. I'll give it some time.
Rating: Summary: Screen and fonts too small, expansion card is sharp edge Review: If you have young eyeballs this smaller screen with smaller fonts might be just fine. But if you are over 30 I suggest you go with a full-sized Palm screen or a larger Handspring display. I liked the m125's convenient flip-screen (much better than Handspring Visors) and the m125 *would have* fit the hand very comfortably. But that new expansion card creates a sharp, uncomfortable edge in the otherwise smooth, glove-like fit. Also, my m125 screen was defective (left side would not respond to stylus) so I sent it back and bought a Palm Vx instead. I don't find any PDA screen big enough for multimedia, web browsing nor even e-mail. So I don't think color is worth paying for and there's no need for "expandibility" if you choose a monochrome PDA with 8 MB of memory. Also, I find serial port better than USB for synchronizing a monochrome PDA, because it is plenty fast for plain text and leaves one more USB port available on your computer for devices that really need it. So the Palm Vx was a better choice for me ($50 more than the m125 but $150 less than the m505). Your "mileage" may vary.
Rating: Summary: Palm125 Review: I compared the Palm 125 to the new Handspring and chose the Palm. The Neo looked cheap and I saw no advantage over the 125. I'm very happy with the new 125, it's easy to use and the 4.0 software it comes with is great. For the money I think it's a good buy.
Rating: Summary: There is a point here...and a viable market niche Review: FIrst off, I don't like this product. It does not present a serious upgrade for the 100 series user (once myself included) or a noticeably expanded value over the m500. However, one must remember that the m100 series was used by Palm to combat the lower prices of low end Visors, and has been successful. The m500 series was used to combat the higher end Visors with their expandability and USB connection. Palm has finally realized it needs both, and has tried to create a compromise to deal with the dropping price of visors. What it should have started with, and still not a decent value. Either buy a Sony Clie for multimedia, the new Visor Neo for value, or Windows CE for power. It has Palm OS emulators anyways.
Rating: Summary: A good start Review: So i bought the Paml M125 2 days ago.. Its my first Palm and im feeling pretty good about it. Its a nice size and fits in a pocket very nicely. The hot sync option is great cause, you can "get in synch"With the Palm program on your Pc and they share the info with each other . So if you enter an address on your PC, when you perform a "hotsync" your Palm gets the new info and viceversa. It has a card slot for extra memory or more programs or what have you. You can always get extra pograms for free from palm.com and other sources. It's also customiseable to the point of getting new face colors and all kinds of different cases. If you need internet access you can get it by purchasing a Palm pilot modem. They now come in wirleless form. Its definetly a positive product. I do have a problem with the fact that the date book does'nt let you schedule past 12 am..I work in retail and have crazy shifts..Sometimes i work 4pm-1am and it can't be entered because its odviously past 12am which is the latest the hour in the program. That isnt the problem for most people's schedule but its a big thing for me. Well hope this helped you.
