Summary: STOP! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!
Review: I had three of these [...bad] things for a month each. The first two stopped recognizing graffiti and became useless after learning how to "freeze" and "lockup" at the worst times. After the third one started shutting itself off while i was using it, i tried to return it at Circuit city, where they told me they could not take back a third unit.

[....] I managed to convince circuit city to give me a sony clie.

the clie works just fine after 3 months

Summary: Quality control nightmare: FAIR WARNING
Review: I was upset and disappointed that this, perhaps the ideal model Palm for my needs, was so poorly made.

M125 pluses: I prefer AA batteries (no need to pay for a service call) and a mono screen is fine (also a battery issue), loved the expandable memory feature, great bundle of useful software, but it had flaws from the beginning.

M125 minuses: The touch screen always took an inordinate amount of pressure to register input. By the end of a couple months, the touch screen was practually useless and graffiti didn't work at all. The final straw was the ON/OFF button breaking (it was in my pocket at the time), leaving me with a useless beeper with nooone calling. I had to pull the batteries out to get it to stop beeping and going crazy. I had been so careful and gentle with this machine, never dropped it and was incensed when Palm told me it would cost to have it fixed.

I trashed it and found a great deal on an older Palm Vx with a keyboard and modem for only $[money] more than my M125. The Vx was rated much higher by users and works like a charm so far. I dislike the sealed battery concept, but overlooked that hoping that it will last a few years. If Palm doesn't get its quality control act together, there's plenty of competition out there.

Fair warning

Summary: Great organizer, why no rechargeable battery?
Review: I received this organizer for Christmas and I must say I have been very happy with it. I upgraded from a Palm V that I had been using for a decent amount of time. Rather than talk about what's good (the company hype will tell you that), I'll offer a few warnings.
-The screen on the m125 is somewhat small compared to other handhelds on the market, but still very readable. However, I could see this as being a problem for someone who has vision problems.
-The m125 runs on AAA batteries, rather than the rechargeable batteries I had grown used to on the Palm V. I can usually go almost a month without replacing the batteries, but it is still a hassle, considering that all the time it spends in the cradle could be spent recharging.
-The connection to the cradle seems somewhat tight and I always worry that I am going to break the serial port when tugging on it to get it out.
-The expansion card slot would be better suited on top (like the m500 series), with the slot on the side it is easy to accidentally press whatever you have in there and that takes you away from any program you are currently in.

Besides those few minor issues, I am very happy with this. Synchronization with Outlook has been flawless, and I have found some other apps (like Pocket Quicken) to be very useful. There are thousands of programs out there for Palm OS, making it a clear choice for someone who wants a handheld and doesn't need really rich media ability (otherwise, look into Pocket PC). I recommend this organizer to anyone who needs a lot of information in their hands.

Summary: Save your money...
Review: I bought my Palm with high expectations and it came through at first but all the Palm 125 does is the functions of a m100 plus it has a little more memory and a memory card slot. After a month of use using the graffiti pad, the built in software no longer recognizes any of its programmed graffiti functions and I have to use the built in keyboard to type dates and appointments. PalmSupport is a waste of your time for they just send you a form letter with no real help. The palm is good for reading news off the internet or playing games when you're bored outside of the home but next time I get a organizer, im getting a Franklin Covey planner instead!

Summary: Great all-around Palm!
Review: If you're in the market for a handheld assistant, this one will suit you perfectly. I've had problems with other non-palm PDA's before but this one has been quite reliable and I've had nothing but good times with with this one. It's extremely reasonably priced and a solid unit.

Summary: Stay away
Review: After having to return two M125's due to a defective digitizer I would advise any potention M125 purchaser to steer clear. I should have read the reviews prior to my initial purchase. After returning unit #2 I decided to give Palm one more shot w/the M130 and love it!. Do yourself a huge favor and stay far away from the M125.

Summary: Superb upgrade from my m100!
Review: I had my Palm m100 for around three years now and I'm going to need to backup without a computer for a while. My solution was to buy the m125. The technology isn't perfect yet so there are flaws to look upon. You must have read reviews about it so I won't bother repeating. So I'm gonna give you facts.

Remember that other handhelds have worse flaws so this is only information. Still, I haven't found the perfect one... Sometimes the price just scare me away.

Flaws my m100 had:
When I reset, the NotePad button always set itself to default so it's annoying to go to preferences and change it. Also it resets when I change batteries.
When I delete an ebook, the other ebooks tbat I didn't touch are also deleted.
To hotsync with the computer is too slow. For only 2mb, it can take up to 10 min!
3rd party programs crash often enough so I don't install those that are unstable.
I live in Canada and I can't find cool accessories for it.
I went half way around the globe and I couldn't backup my stuff so I didn't really use it.
The buttons can be accidently pushed with a soft case.

The flaws my m125 has:
You have to find the programs that move, share, use the memory card. The permanent program that's included is slow if you install too many things. I don't even own a credit card yet so I'm stuck with annoying programs.
The extra program added was Card Info and the only things you can do is format and rename.
I had to manage a way to get the most ebooks on my SD card(I just found out that there's a button on windows install tool that can change where this and this go), but I can't delete pdb's if installed directly onto the card unless a pda-reader can.
The SD/MMC card can be easily removed so I fear to lose it since there's no cover. Also I have two cards and one has 29.1mb and the other 30.5mb... I wanted 32mb!
The screen protector doesn't help since it's like putting a transparent piece of paper over it and my books are tough to read. The protector is only needed for the writing zone so just cut it and my m100's screen isn't that bad and the scratches doesn't bother me as long I can't see it. If you rub it long enough, it will be clearer. With the sticker, it's less sensitive so beware!
It's slightly thicker and heavier, but you can't change the batteries in the m50x series so this one is good with backups.
It's too hard to select stuff on the screen when you have the screen protector and I didn't have any problem with my m100 that only has scoth tape in the writing area. The paper-like scoth tape is best for paper-like feeling and speed.
The SD/MMC cards are twice as expensive compared to compact flash or smartmedia so my budget limits itself to a tiny 32mb.
It would be great if it was using smartmedia instead or maybe compact flash type II for the 1gb microdrive! That'll be sweet. SWEET!

What you look for in the palm m125:
expansion
8mb
33mhz
affordable
if you can't stand colors screens for their lack of quality
monochrome screen for information, no bright colors to distract you

Well compared to other handhelds, the Palm company offers people a simpler operating system with better(and in large quantity!) 3rd party programs so even if it doesn't offer as much as other companies, it offers what people need(maybe best for 3rd party stuff). An Mp3 player would be great but we can't all afford 256mb cards and they drain the batteries faster, voice recorders have weaker quality on handhelds and my PPC(cassiopeia e-10) takes up 16k/sec at best quality, color screen just drains the batteries faster(the price scares me the most), and paying for low-class games isn't worth it compared to gameboys. Just don't buy something because it offers more, see if it's worth the price and it fits your needs. Pocket Pc's are more complex so it takes much much more time to get used to. You can't really compare PPC's with palms, so know what you need!

Summary: This is one pain in my neck
Review: I bought two of these without reading the customer reviews (never again), one for me and one for my wife. Within 5 days, the left side of the grafitti area stopped working on my wife's Palm. Amazon graciously exchanged it for another equally defective, [money] worthless piece of electronic equipment. Soon after that, my Palm, which worked great for about two weeks, developed the same problem. At this point we returned both of them and are currently awaiting a refund so we can get a different brand/model at a local merchant.

I know what your thinking, me and my wife write like apes and broke the device because we wrote to hard. In that case, do not take my word on this, you will notice many, many other customers with an IDENTICAL problem. It's just been a hassel playing mail tag with Amazon to get this right. Do yourself a favor, if you must buy the m125 (don't), do so at your local electronics store so you can take it back quikly if it has a similar defect, because it probably will.

The worst part of the ordeal, is that I lost a little bit of faith in Amazon.com. Even though this is a commonly reported issue with this device, Amazon will keep sending out bad device after bad device. Please Amazon, you can do better.

Summary: Nice but Slow!
Review: Tested with Benchmark 2.0, with base comparison to Palm IIIxe, Palm m125 only 154% faster while Visor Platinum 204% and Sony Clie 320 203% at the same processor clock speed. What's a pitty that Palm can't make its own original device as faster as its competitor.

Summary: It only lasted about a week!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: At first I thought I would like having a Palm - Until the lower left quadrant of the touch screen quit working within about a week! Boy, I sure wasted a lot of time entering info that I am now unable to retrieve reliably...
