Summary: Mass produced junk and poor customer service
Review: I writing this review as a warning to any of those that are considering buying into the Palm line. I bought my first Palm m125 as a solution for a basic planner to help me keep my life in order. The first thing I noticed was that the the lighting was terrible, but I figured as long as it did what I needed it to do, I would survive.

But several weeks later, the touch screen stopped working. First it was subtle, as it wouldn't recognize the graffiti, but then the problem increased. I took it back to the store and they tested it out, and a sales rep said the unit had a faulty touch screen. They would not give me my money back because I had waited too long to return it. So obviously frustrated I called Palm and they told me they would replace it with a 'Used' model and they were going to waive the shipping and handling fees. So I went ahead with the replacement and the next unit they sent me also had a problem. But this time, it was a battery issue. I would put in brand new batteries and turn the unit off, and within several hours when I turned the unit on, the battery power would be at like 19%. So I called Palm again, and they said they'd replace this faulty unit. They replaced it sure, but with another defective unit and when I tried to call them the third time, they actually wanted to charge me for shipping and handling and refused to refund my money. Completely frustrated and disillusioned by their terrible customer service, I just threw the unit away. I had spent so much time dealing with this matter, that the cost no longer justified any more wasted time. Afterwards I bought an iPaq and it made Palm look like a cheap kids toy in comparison.

Summary: Think Read and then buy....BUT
Review: Plam introduced this m125, but they forgot to mention that their product hogs a lot of battery when used. So I just dont recomend a model which does not have a inbuilt chargeable battery. It turns out to be slightly cheap but with higher risks and peoblems. The data loss is highly torturing. I planned to use NiMH AAA bateries instead and the problems came down considerably. But that swaping business comes into action...so thats another overhead.
=================
What Palm/PalmOne shud have done is make that model charge NiCad/NiMH batteries like some CD players do...inside the battery case itself. This way the Palm becomes cheaper and the user is having a choice of using chargeable or non chargeable batteries.

Summary: Unbelievably bad product from Palm
Review: I've had other Palm Pilots before (higher end models) but when my now-outdated high-end model finally gave out after 3.5 years, I got this lower-end model as I was no longer working. It is terrible! No rechargable battery (very stupid to omit this feature), not the same cradle as other Palm Pilots (so if you are a family with multiple palm users, you will need multiple cradles), and horrible low battery/battery failure contingencies. I've lost all the data in my handheld three times, never having received a low battery warning. I certainly wish I'd never gotten this model, and would never recommend it to anyone, regardless of their needs.

Summary: trouble with palm m 125
Review: My palm m 125 was a birthday present bought from the compuserve store in fairfax va. A few days after my birthday I returned home, Istanbul, Turkey and found that my palm was not working properly. I also discovered that the guys at the compuserve store had managed to sell a charging unit for about 30 dollars for a product that runs on batteries. I found out that my old computer running on windows 95 and having no proper ports had to be extensively modified. An older computer needs another type of cradle which you can buy but they do not stock it Istanbul.(Do they stock it in USA-probably not) After all the modification work was completed on my computer, the touch screen which was giving me trouble refused to work anymore. I contacted Palm England and after pages of e mails I had to sent it to them. They claimed it was fixed but it was not. Finally last March I went back to States and wanted to return the palm, the keyboard, the useless charger to compuserve. I was sick and tired of the whole process and would have been happy to exchange it for a working model. They refused. When my daughter bought the unit she refused to buy insurance to cover such an eventuality so they were able to wash their hands of the whole affair. They also informed me that Palm was a very tough company to deal with when it came to exchanging non functioning units. I went through the whole process of contacting palm usa this time. They preferred phones rather than e mails. I had to send my unit to them, wait for ages before the unit was returned to me, spend quite a few dollars sending packages and I am living with the comstant terror of another malfunction. The first opportunity I get I will switch to another make and probably find that I will have to buy all the accessories again.
when buying a Palm product from compuserve stores please buy the insurance/do not let them talk you into buying useless accessories and do not buy them until you make sure that you find the unit functions in a way that is useful to you. always hot synch otherwise you data will be lost.

Summary: don't bother with this one
Review: My trusty Palm IIIxe finally wore out and I decided to purchase another Palm PDA to replace it because the IIIxe worked so well for me. All I need is a basic PDA and it seemed that the m125 would handle my needs. It has been a real disappointment. The IIIxe fit the docking cradle securely and reliably; for some reason, the m125 is much trickier to fit into the docking cradle. The plastic cover looks and feels flimsy. Compared to the IIIxe it eats batteries. Finally, after a couple of months it just plain stopped working. Although I'm frugal, I decided I didn't need the trouble of an unreliable PDA and went ahead and bought a Toshiba that works beautifully. I would have been happy with another IIIxe, but unfortunately Palm made the decision to replace it with a new but inferior model. No wonder they are losing market share.

Summary: Not bad for a beginner, but has it's flaws.
Review: Purchased Palm m125 over a year ago, use it all the time. Likes: easy to use, expansion card, easy to sync. Dislikes: no battery charger or charging capabilities. Have to keep putting batteries in every month or two (depending on use). Mono screen. Recommended for someone who doesn't need much.

Summary: rechargeable batteries not included
Review: This is a good entry model unit for playing with but a real unit should be able to run on recharchable batteries and come with rechargeable batteries. Unfortunately that means a higher price up front -- but considering the alkaline battery cost you'll save over the life of the product (not to mention saving the environment some battery waste) I think its worth it to step up to say the m130 (that's what I'm going to do :)

BTW: the battery having to be alkaline was not real clear up front, I figured any rechargables would replace them but that doesn't seem to be the case unless I just have the wrong type.

Summary: sudden problem
Review: I bought a palm M125 last year and have enjoyed using it till two weeks ago, when all of a sudden the touchscreen seems to have gone wild. I touch it and it would not do the things I touch on like 'done' it delets a note.
Moreover, when I switch it on, it shows the calendar, but when I touch the 'house symbol' in the left corner, I don't get redirected to the main menu. After a reset the touching on the symbols has the expected effect, but after I syncronized the palm the above desribed problem is back again!
Who has experienced this, too? How did you solve the problem?
Would be grateful to get advice.

Summary: Watch It - Palm 125 will Reset
Review: My boyfriend and I both bought a Palm 125 in March 2003. It is great for keeping appointments, addresses, and to do lists. Just watch out if you need support. Palm will only support the software for 90 days and will charge after that. Both of us have had problems with "hard resets," where all the data is wiped out. This has not happened because the battery died (as Palm suggested) or from physically hitting the reset button. If you buy a 125, be sure and hot sync quite often, you will need to restore at some point.

Summary: Great Beginner!
Review: I love the m125! It isn't that good for Palm enthusiasts, get a Tungsten for that. But beginners will love it. Easy to read screen, best I've seen on grayscale. SD is great-just dump all your ebooks on a SD Card and take your library with you!

Only downside:the battery life, although great, is less than some other grayscale Palm devices (Handspring Visor Deluxe had the best I've ever used)
